Hotel Los Yamanas is located in the southernmost city in the world. In reviewing the hotel, one must keep the surrounding environment in mind. The city of Ushuaia is located on the the Beagle Channel on the island Tierra del Fuego, to which materials must be shipped or flown. The city's houses and buildings are constructed with durable materials (corrugated metal, bricks) which allow residents to weather the wind and cold.

With this in mind, Hotel Los Yamanas is remarkably well-maintained. The rooms are clean, comfortable, warm, and well-equipped. TV and Wifi are received by dish. They are slow but who cares in this breathtaking environment? Speeds were sufficient to send email, upload pictures, and to watch futbol (soccer). Large view windows were a plus. The location directly adjacent to the Beagle Channel and the unobstructed views of snow-topped mountains are the primary reason to book here. Surrounding grounds include native (Yaghan) relics and mounds.

The staff did their best to cover the needs of the hotel guests. The kitchen opened and the chef was called to the dining room if people requested meals. It did not seem to be a ready operation, and some people waited quite a while. The alternative was to call a taxi and head to town for a meal. The distance can be walked, but it's rather dusty, muddy, and cold. If you think you will require a meal, give them advance notice. Otherwise, there are several seafood restaurants in town. The hotel is located five to ten minutes (by car) west of the city of Ushuaia.

While outside of Ushuaia, it is a great facility. The rooms are large. The scenery is incredible. The staff is great. It is a very short ride into Ushuaia, which is a very small town with some shops and a range of restaurants. The weather is usually bad so make sure you have rain gear.

WOW!

This hotel is set on the lake with such amazing views it is incredible. The staff are very nice and with our little bit of Spanish and thier little bit of English, we managed quite well.

The rooms are comfortable, but there is NO sound-proofing. We could actually hear the guy above us snoring and the people next to us using the toilet. The screaming children were enough to make me go crazy, but I mentioned it and the kids shut right up. They start early with the grounds maintenence and that is lound with gas powered toold and loud talking gardeners...but with a view like this, and so much to do, why sleep in?

There is a nice "game" loft with pool table and card table, but we found it to be a bit smokey, as smoking is allowed everywhere in the hotel - except for certain rooms and the resturaunt. so we took our cards back into our very nice room.

The included breakfast is really quite good. Eat at the resturaunt once for lunch or dinner. It is expensive, the wine selection is not that good, and the food tries too hard and is not all that good, either. For example: the Calafate ice cream was obviously pre-made and put back in the freezer with massive amounts of freezer burn. The pasta was also chewy and tasted "old". The service in the resturaunt is also s-l-o-w. And whatever you do, do NOT order drinks from the bar. It literally took 40 minutes to receive an orange juice, vodka & tonic and a glass of red wine - there was nobody else there! Either wait for it at the resturaunt or get it from the mini bar in your room.

The internet service is shotty at best, but you are at the end of the world, and sometimes the service to the whole town gets cut off. The computer NEVER worked during our three day stay, and the WiFi was in and out.

The massage was quite good. Exercize facilities are only the basics - but they are obviously trying with a sauna and jacuzzi.

There is a relaxation room that seems out of place, as kind of a movie-type room with flat screen TV and surround sound...but everything was locked up and there was nobody to help us get the movies out.

All in all, though, it is obviously one of the better places to stay in Ushuaia without staying at a group hostel, cold clammy makeshift B&B hotel or the very expensive place up on the side of the mountain. It is far enough out of the center of town and the dock that you don't want to walk, but they have complimentary transport to and from the dock to the hotel. Make sure you book the trip to see the Penguins and Seals and if you are able to, get off of the boat to take the tour of the Harberton Estancia with the van ride back - it is amazing.

I would recommend anyone to stay here, all in all, and hope to return someday.

First, the hotel did not have any full bed, once me and my husband had reserved a full bed. We had to sleep in twin beds the entire trip.
Second, my shampoo, cream, perfum were missing the second night when we enter the room. The hotel employee did not help not even a little bit. Very disppointing ! They found next day but did not explained what happened and not even an "I´m sorry".

Staff was very friendly but after that . . . Hotel is overheated. It was really hard to come in from the cold and deal with with a hotel room and restaurant that were uncomfortably warm. I kept the heat off in my room and the window wide open. Internet was impossible. It's slow and keeps timing out—very frustrating. Skip the restaurant. Food was pretty disappointing. Breakfast buffet is standard. Eggs are on a hot plate but not hot. I could hear the television and voices in the room next to mine. If you don't have a car, the center of Ushuaia isn't walkable and one way in a taxi is ~300 pesos. On the positive side, my room was comfortable enough and spotlessly clean. Great pool!

Hotel Los Yamanas occupies a splendid setting at the foot of the Andes overlooking the Beagle Channel. The simple yet comfortable 41-room hotel offers a restaurant, bar and lounge, game room, fitness center, spa with sauna and Jacuzzi, massage treatments, internet access, gift shop, and laundry service. Rustic style guest rooms all have Channel views and private bath, Wi-Fi internet access, in-room safe, TV, and phone. Hotel is outside of town (taxi), but very quiet. The distance can be walked, but it's rather dusty, muddy, and cold. PS it is cool/cold down there wild strong winds

Nice rooms, simple but comfortable; great view of the channel. Dining/breakfast room offers same great view of the channel while you eat. Good food. Nice people. Takes about an hour to walk into town, but taxi is not expensive. We were there in their autumn. Bring your rain gear for that season and your boots--not everything is paved. Everyone should visit El Fin Del Mundo some time in their life.

Los Yamanas Hotel in Ushuaia is a small, charming hotel, with a lovely view of the bay. There are two floors of rooms and the restaurant is located on the third floor. The rooms are large, the owners are friendly, and the hotel offers free WiFi although it doesn't always work well in the rooms. Both floors have lobbies that overlook the water. The seats are comfortable and several of them are covered by sheep's skin. There is a small work out room but it is more fun to walk along the beach next to the hotel.

We arrived for two days from Mendoza. I just have a trip advisor review as reference. I highly recommend this hotel. Best in value. Really good costumer service
I have to mention the kindness of Lorena, Santiago, Agustin, Gustavo and Lilen.
The rooms are great all with Beagle Chanel view.

So we were booked into Los Yamanas for one night prior to our cruise on Crystal Endeavor, Los Yamanas was one of three hotels recommended by Crystal, on January 14 Crystal went into bankruptcy and our cruise was canceled. I notified Los Yamanas the next day. They already would have been aware of this as the Covid testing was supposed to happen at Los Yamanas. Because we opted for arrangements for flights and hotels we had to book direct. The two other hotels Arakur Ushuaia and Fuegino Hotel Pategonico either canceled the reservations outfight without charge or refunded funds without penalties. I contacted Los Yamanas several times without success, I eventually heard from the hotel on Feb 12 telling me they had no choice but to charge full room rate. They also has Had a terse one line response verbatim hence the poor English “I do apologize beacouse the Crystal Cruise ceasing operations. Its not our foult, Claims the refund to the Crystal Company”

Everyone with canceled crystal cruises are in contact with Trustee handling and flights / hotels are not recoverable.

So be aware if you book at Los Yamanas and you end up not able to travel. You will be charged 100%
