Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Ushuaia sits up quite a steep hill and this Hosteria is up. The benefit is a view and, apart from the dreadful pavements, a comfortable walk in and out of town. The proprietor was very friendly and helpful largely in Spanish. The room was basic but comfortable and in a quiet neighbourhood meaning a good night sleep. Breakfast was simple continental and fine. A bonus was a Nespresso machine and water dispenser in reception. Value is relative and Ushuaia is very expensive so everyone needs to make their own judgement.

Travelling the world for work and pleasure I never had such a request anywhere in the world. On arrival the owner wanted full details of a second credit card to charge any damages we might do to his otherwise Spartan room furniture, old bathrooms and lived-down living room. He wanted to be able to charge us if he found anything after we left. As if he could not check and settle that upon departure if ever these 2 sixty+ couples would break down his place! At a simple breakfast (yesterday's?) thermos coffee was cold but no problem "I will put your cup in the micro-wave" ...rather than brewing fresh coffee. Later on I also noticed he overcharged us by using by far the worst exchange rate during our five week road trip. Overall, one of our worst experiences in Argentina.

We have never been treated so rudely or with such lack of hospitality in our lives. We booked this hostel using Expedia.com and had our confirmation email ready when we arrived. The person managing reception spent a couple minutes reading through our email before calling someone else twice to ask about our reservation. She then proceeded to tell us brusquely that they haven't worked with Expedia for two years and that there was no reservation for us and that they were fully booked. When we asked if we could at least use their WiFi briefly to try to figure out where we could stay for the night, she told us quite rudely no, that their WiFi was only for guests and then essentially pushed us out the door. I could not believe how horrible of hospitality they showed, and given how they treated us, I can't imagine how staying here could be a good experience. I RECOMMEND YOU STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!

The Sloggert in Ushuaia is basic accomodations. Clean, functional and friedly. The beds were basic but comfortable. Linens and towels were clean and fresh. it is up on the hill. So it has a terrific view of the town, the town dock, the Beagle channel and the mountains. But Note to self: this owner requires cash, US dollars. My reservation never said anything about that. So that was a surprise. But no problem, good thing I brought extra US dollars with me. Speaking of the owner. He is well traveled all across the United States. Fun to talk too, in spanish of course. He has seen more of the U.S. than most Americans ever do. One last note the breakfast was nothing like in the photos, Instead it was justbcoffee and tea, powdered coffee creamer, toasted white bread and basic sweet crossiants, no milk or jucies or Deli meats like in the pictures. So beaware of that. Overall it was a pleseant stay. In basic accommodations. The view is to die for.

Arrived before 3pm arrival time and only speaking English was a challenge for owner Very clean...narrow single beds but comfortable...quite warm...excellent views from rooms. Tea/coffee available in lounge all day which is nice. Breakfast minimal..croissant and toast only...powdered milk...throw away plates, cutlery and cups not very nice. This place could be better rated with real cutlery and crockery, and more breakfast options. The price is not cheap. Walk up and down hill certainly keeps you fit!!

The place is very clean, spotless!! But there is no hospitality, you almost feel you are an inconvenience! We staid there 2 nights: we couldn't have any breakfast the first morning, everything was gone! The second morning we managed to have some leftovers. Anyway the place is spotless.

Located on top of a hill, which makes it hard to come back from a party but when you see the view from dining room - it's amazing. Staff is nice. Check out - 10 AM is too early! Traditional Argentinian breakfast is OK. It's a bit overpriced, like everything in Ushuaia.

Sloggett was our hotel before our trip with the m/v Plancius to the Antarctic Peninsula, a wonderfull trip. Unfortunally Sloggett in nothing except the view looked like our trip. The hotel is like a castle with electronic locks, making lots of noises. The bathrooms were terribly small and with a bad in which you can only sit being a 6 year old. The breakfast in nothing looked like the foto's but was close to OK. I wouldn't recommend you to stay in this hosteria, sorry because i think it once was a nice hosteria.

Stayed here as part of an organised tour. Rooms were small, terrible TV reception. Heater stuck on high heat, had to open windows to have a comfortable temperature. A long way uphill from the main part of town. Wouldn't recommend.
