I have been to several dude ranches and Circle Z Ranch is the best I have experienced. The staff, the lodging the food, the horses and the trails were all spectacular. And that's not to mention the incredible scenery. I have already booked another stay at the ranch.

My husband and I spent a fabulous week at Circle Z. Here are the many reasons we loved it and will return next year: 1. Excellent ownership and management who treat their staff very well (from what we could see) and a sense of professionalism and enthusiasm by everyone who works there. 2. Great food - the Valentines dinner was such a beautiful treat and surprise. Mango, the cook, obviously takes great pride in planning, preparing and serving up his meals. Wholesome, delicious and satisfying. 3. Well trained, sound and well behaved horses who are well treated by the wranglers, and deliver a good, safe riding experience of about 50 miles of trails in 6 days. 4. The head wrangler, Mico, makes sure that each guest is matched up with a horse commensurate with the guest’s riding ability and confidence. He has good judgment and is primarily concerned with the safety of both rider and horse. All the guests were between the ages of 60 and 73, but we all had a fun, challenging and safe riding experience (well, as safe as riding on trails can be). 5. The trails are beautiful and diverse - everyday is a different experience. The scenery is stunning and spectacular, from grassy stretches to creeks, ravines to rocky outcrops, semi-desert with cactus to groves of sycamores and oak. We also rode into Patagonia for lunch one day and had lunch at the tavern. 6. The ranch puts on a variety of optional experiences - a morning walk along Sonoita Creek led by a qualified naturalist, an evening of star gazing through a telescope with a man knowledgeable in astronomy, and a poet cowboy who sang for us after dinner one evening. Very enjoyable. 7. The owner, Diana, and managers, George and Jenny, are wonderful hosts. Each evening they host a happy hour before dinner, helping to foster a convivial and friendly atmosphere among guests. We feel that we made new friends this week. 8. Clean, comfortable and charming accommodation, with extra conveniences such as free laundry facilities and the free use of cowboy hats and boots, if needed. 9. My husband did not ride, but on three of the days he hiked to the location where the riders picnicked. There are great opportunities for hiking, bird watching, etc, and at no time was he bored. Thanks you, Circle Z, for a really great holiday in SE Arizona. We hope to see you next year.

This was an incredible horse riding experience. Miko chose a calm, sure footed horse, Hawk, for me. Each ride was over different terrain, each magnificent. Each evening guests met in the cantina for conversation. Everyone was warm and friendly, and there was entertainment several of the evenings. The staff was exceptionally welcoming. The staff functioned as a family unit, each person had a roll to play and they did so with much joy. The wranglers were flexible and able to work with a variety of skill levels. The dining program was varied and plentiful. When I chose to omit meat one night, there were enough vegetable options so that I didn’t feel cheated. Most of the other guests were repeats and accomplished riders. After experiencing Circle Z hospitality I fully intend to be a repeat visitor. I have been to several ranches and this was by far the best. Well cared for horses, clean and comfortable rooms, and a happy staff make for an ideal vacation. Be aware... for me 4 days was not long enough; next year it’ll be 7 days.
