Amazing views, great location near Dominical, clean large rooms, great pool area, friendly and helpful staff. View of the coast was the best I have ever seen. The only potential negative is the drive up to the hotel is very steep- so make sure you have a 4 wheel drive car! The location is quiet and safe, and you can easily get into town where there are cafes, restaurants, surfing, etc...Could not have asked for a better stay.

Took my girlfriend here and ended up being the spot I chose to propose to my beautiful girl. Nothing beat the view from the villas and the amazing staff! I can't recommend this place enough. Its located on a more quiet calm side of the touristy side of costa, so you have all of the beauty without all of the rush. Super close markets and amenities all shopped by locals so you know the price is fair. This place has everything nearby to support the most beautiful peice of land in the area.

My partner and I stayed here for two nights and we were absolutely blown away. The service, the food, the drinks, and most importantly the people were so friendly and helpful. Particularly Gustavo and Aaron that work at the villa were so kind and helful. Our villa had the most amazing view, and was very clean. The pool and bar are right there so you don't even have to leave the place if you don't want to. We didn't exactly know what to expect when we booked because pictures didn't show it's true beauty. They also provide all you need for the beach (towels, umbrella, boogie board etc) which was a huge bonus since we travel light. We were very surprised when we arrived to see how amazing it was at this villa. We can't wait to come back! Cheers from Canada! -Dan and Laurie

We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel. It is attractive and well maintained. The villas are situated in a lovely setting on a hill overlooking the ocean with wonderful views. A 4x4 car is necessary. We stayed in Villa 2, a two bedroom villa which was well appointed, clean and spacious and very convenient to the pool and main reception area.(no stairs). It had fabulous views in two directions. Only minor drawback was an occasional lack of privacy due to proximity to pool and dining area, particularly when there were tours arriving to visit the animal sanctuary. Other villas are more private but also have more stairs. During our stay, staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was good, particularly breakfast. It is a very good hotel choice and we will certainly return.. The animal sanctuary associated with the hotel is well worth a visit.

Visited for the weekend and was blown away by the property. The views were fantastic and the staff was outstanding. They took really good care of us. While the food at the restaurant was a little pricey compared to restaurants offsite, the food was really good. Room had everything we needed and was really comfortable. Only complaint was the water pressure in the shower, several times it was reduced to a trickle. Overall, I would still highly recommend Villas Alturas for the staff, the view and the overall quality of the place.

This is a lovely hotel with comfortable rooms and beautiful views. We stayed in a one bedroom. It had a living room, kitchen, spacious bathroom, awesome porch with a pair of rockers, hammock, and a table with 4 chairs. The couch was a futon so you could actually have three adults or to adults and two small children. Our view was spectacular. There were trees so we could view the local wildlife and a clearing to see a good deal of ocean. Bring your binoculars. We spotted humpback whales one morning and watched them right from the porch. The restaurant was amazing and delicious. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They made us feel very ‘at home’ while we visited. The pool is very nice too and it overlooks the ocean. There’s plenty to do in the area. There is a wildlife sanctuary connected to the hotel which was very interesting and informative about the local wildlife. Whale watching tours, ATV tours, hiking, surfing, shopping and restaurants. Some of these can be booked right at the hotel if you wish. As some have mentioned, a 4x4 vehicle is a must to get up the steep road that leads to the hotel. I highly recommend this place. It was an awesome week.

We visited Uvita’s area for 4 days.
This is our first stay at this gorgeous place. The views are stunning!!! The place is spotless clean. The service was wonderful, especially Nicky and Ariel who were so helpful and pleasant.

Atmosphere is just chill. The pool is not too big but overlooking the Marino Ballena national park and coast. Open all day! The common areas are very inviting and thoughtfully designed.

Rooms are basic. Our room was very spacious and had beautiful views of the ocean and sunset! Each room has a different location. There is a full kitchen, and a dining table indoor and outside on a huge balcony with hammock and chairs. We had two bedrooms which was wonderful for a family.

The restaurant was OK with limited menu.
Breakfast is basic but good quality and healthy, but limited in choice, and yet different fresh fruit juice every day. Night drinks are very nice.

Definitely will come again!
Mucho gracias

My wife and I were in Costa Rica on a house hunting mission. We chose to stay at this property upon the recommendation of our realtor. He was spot on.

The views from our villa were simply spectacular. The staff was unbelievably friendly (special shout outs to Errol, Nikki and Deivi). Each made us feel special in their own way. We appreciated the way they treated us like family.

We had the opportunity to sample all three meals during our stay, and the food was top notch. You could stay on property your entire visit and not miss a thing.

We will be back!

After three years we came back to this gem place and it always delivers.

Alturas is a small and intimate hotel with only 7 private villas. Each has a balcony with a sitting area, hammock and astonishing views.

The stuff will know you by name and we had the privilege of knowing Casey and Jorge who really helped us with everything we needed, starting with amazing pina colada and phone calls to book activities.

Our room of 4 people was with the best view of the ocean. Not all rooms have the same view. However the pool area is the place to spend your afternoon and watch Tuscans and Marino Ballena national park from above.

The food was delicious and the presentation was very attractive with attention to the esthetics.

Will definitely come back for the 3rd time

Stunning 180 degree ocean views! Its amazing to sit at the pool and look down at the Whales Tail in the distance. Our suite was huge and very nice. The food at the restaurant is amazing and actually a great value considering the quality of the food and the wonderful location. Our stay here was one of the highlights of our trip. The only down side is its quite a steep drive up a long gravel road to get there, so be sure you have a 4 wheel drive. Water was good to drink. We saw monkeys right from the parking lot. Be sure to book at tour of the adjacent animal shelter while you are there. Another nice bonus is a welcome drink, plus local microbrews on tap at the bar (only hotel we stayed at which had this).

Yes to both. Upon check-in, they take your credit card info and you run a “tab” during your stay and they charge your card once upon checkout. (Which helps with internationally usage fees the card charges)

There is no bird feeders. They have a restaurant with a great menu. It is expensive but the food is amazing. I can’t answer your question about the trail. There is a wildlife sanctuary on the property that we took pictures at. Not the same as the wild but good to see the work they do to save injured animals. I can’t say enough good things about the place. The view is stunning and people are great. I think every week about going back for more vacation time. Rent a vehicle its a must.
