For years I had been wanting to spend the night in a French castle but had never gotten around to it. French history has always been one of my favorite subjects and after having visited many chateaux in the Loire Valley, I couldn’t resist the opportunity to stay in the East Wing of the Chateau de Craon. With the description... More

We were staying near here and decided to visit for a Sunday afternoon picnic. There is a small charge to get in, after which you have free roaming in the grounds. It was a good place for a family walk, with an English tour map (returnable) to assist us and plenty to see en route. The grounds were deserted, and... More

Yes Helen, a large familly live in the chateau we have 6 children, five married and 14 grand children. They come back to the familly nest quite often ! The best is to rent a gite or a room and stay few days. Best regards. Looïk More

This late 18th Century Chateau operates both as a hotel and as an historic site to tour. Not having stayed at the hotel, I can only review it as an historic site. The grounds look wonderful, but you should know that the grounds as well as the chateau are closed on Saturdays. Sunday through Friday you can tour the grounds... More

We enjoyed our overnight stay at Chateau de Craon with great views from our room. We were given tea in a lovely drawing room on arrival and later explored the extensive grounds. Breakfast was served in an elegant dining room. Our hosts the Comte and Comtesse were very welcoming. It is very much a mini Versailles!

Very elegant Chateau in a very quiet area. The property is quite amazing, and Loik was a great host, and was very helpful with any questions we had. He provided a map of his property, which made for nice afternoon walks/picnics. Loik also provided a traditional French breakfast each morning consisting of breads and pastries with juice, coffee/teas. Only downside... More

We enjoyed our stay at Château de Craon. Helene and Loik make you feel like house guests. All the rooms are vintage, but up to date. The grounds are are breathtaking. We were invited to a wedding here. I thought we were in a movie.

For peace and quiet, and great character, Chateau de Craon is hard to beat. The reviews say it all. We are just bringing it up to date having been there for a couple of nights in the Blue Room (the one in which our host Loik was born, so he told us) in mid-September 2015. It continues to be just... For those who search for a real french country life with elegance and style. This chateau is the place. The host received us with great hospitality. The rooms are tastefully decorated with lots of charm. Best thing is the gite equipped with kitchen, 5-6 beds, three toilets/bathrooms, desk, television.
