I have stayed in quite a few French Chateaus and they all share the same thing, pretentiousness . We were met on arrival by Madame who showed us our 3 rooms and left us to choose who went where, the rooms were okay and obviously full of their own nick knacks because the Chateau is also their home. We stayed...

Thank you for the comments which are very personal,i hope you had a restful stay as the helicopter was here only one day without mooving, just landing and leaving after 11 am. In many pleaces parking is away from the castles even when you go and visit castles. All our family items are part of our welcome in private châteaux,...

Why is this Chateau not rated 5?. It is the most unbelievable experience we have had in 40 years of travelling. Yes, there are fabulous ritzy hotels. Ho hum! When you come here it is an experience not just a place to stay. The owners are proud of what they offer and there is nothing more you can want. They...

When we came to la flocelliere i thougt that we will find a boring ramada style hotel. But we succeed to reach chateau de la flocelliere. It's located in the middle of a excellent nature. We'd been welcomed by owner's of the castle. They were friendly, just a little bit nervous. Rooms were clean and comfortable. We were here for...

What an amazing experience. We were met by Derek (apologies if the spelling is wrong) and his beautiful wife, Derek explained his parents were away and he showed us to our beautiful room. We hadn't booked dinner as we were travelling from Avignon and didn't know what time we would arrive but Derek rang the local restaurant and booked us...

We stayed here for a week, culminating in our son's wedding on the grounds. Rented the Keep, the Louis XIII wing, and a couple of the rooms in the castle for our group, and enjoyed having space, quiet, and access to the lovely grounds. The 103 stone steps to the top of the keep to our room were a challenge,...

Let me sum this up for you. If you get the chance, go. Just go. If you were ever little and wondered what it would be like to live in a castle, and not just look at one behind velvet ropes, go. The castle is a romantic dream of a place, but what makes it truly special are the owners,...

I've toured around Europe for 18 years and stayed in a lot of chateau and fancy hotels. This one is the real deal. I can't recommend it enough, book a room if you're in the area or going to Puy du Fou. Chateau is 900 years old, read all the history on the internet. What's striking is the quality of...

We had read the wonderful article about the Chateau in the NY Times and the experience met and exceeded our expectations. The setting is idyllic, the chateau has been lovingly and beautifully restored and our dinner with the Viscomte and Viscomtess was delicious, interesting and full of historical, political and cultural information. They were both very welcoming and the Viscomte...

After seeing an article in the NY Times we changed our travel plans to incorporate the chateau, it was well worth the detour (the directions provided by the chateau were very good). As we drove through the gates we were met by the Vicomte who took our luggage in his golf cart. The adventure started when we got to the...
