Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Excellent personal service despite language barrier. Rooms were clean and sheets smelled extremely fresh. Towels were soft, bathrooms were amazing. Dinner and breakfast were fantastic. Delighted with how hardworking and kind the very small staff was. Cats roamed in and out of the quaint hotel but were never a bother. Highly recommend.

The décor is a delight. How pleasing to see a Hotel oozing humanity, instead of the usual sterile and forgettable. The food was sublime. Possibly the best meal I've had in Provence in years! Thanks to the lovely family who run it.

We got a room in a back alley. Felt like they were renting out an old apartment to make some extra money. When we opened the windows, we could see nothing but ivy. So expensive, and not even breakfast included. We checked out as soon as possible.

Family run and spotlessly clean, the rooms are delightfully decorated and the bathrooms huge! Food is excellent and Demi pension can’t be beaten in my opinion! We have stayed here as a couple and returned with friends. Everyone has loved it. No a/c but plenty of fans and since it’s cooler here at night in summer I find it fine without. (Maybe Not suitable for those allergic to animals as the cats and dogs of the family are as hospitable as the proprietors. ) Swimming almost in front of the hotel and within easy reach of the lavendar fields I almost don’t want to recommend this place in case there’s no room for me next time!!

We, and many of my family before us, have stayed here many times over the decades - and it continues please. The rooms are comfortable (and a front room overlooking the lake is worth the extra), the food is regional and varied and the staff all friendly and helpful. There used to be a wonderful aroma of beeswax and lavender polish, now less in evidence than in earlier years and now only two dogs and perhaps a dozen cats (all rescued by the older Madame, who still appears from time to time) roam the hotel.

We booked into the Auberge for 3 nights (Friday - Monday in July). The Hotel is traditional and had a beautiful situation overlooking the "crystal" lake. Our room faced the Lake and was furnished with lovely French antiques. Our room was spotlessly clean, had plenty of towels, crisp linen and tea and coffee facilities. The Owners obviously love animals (as we do to) and the Hotel is also a home for their cats and dogs, all very well behaved. We loved this Hotel and it was the highlight of our week. The Breakfasts were just what we wanted, fresh figs on the table, large jugs of yummy coffee and hot milk (what a joy) and of course a plentiful supply of Croissants and warm bread rolls, with a choice of jams and honey. We spent our days exploring the lake by foot which is the best way finding secret coves and swimming in the warm waters. Thank you Auberge du Lac. As an option you can have breakfast in your room, which was a lovely idea.

Such a quaint and charming hotel which is made by it's kind, welcoming and incredibly hospitable owners as well as the characterful and all very friendly pets that live here too! The breakfast was delicieux, the room was warm, tastefully decorated and designed with much care and attention. The views from room 14 were amazing and an absolute pleasure to wake up to in the mornings. Don't look anywhere else is our advice!! Thank you so much for your hospitality and we'll see you again soon :-)

This picturesque hotel with its friendly staff was a relaxing stop during our trip through Le Var. It was a bit of an adventure to get to the room via the service corridor, passing the kitchen and stock room, trying to remember which way we went so not to get lost. But I enjoyed the contact opportunity this offered by passing the staff and greeting them like we have known each other for years. But let this small fact not stop you from trying out this wonderful and friendly place, where the staff tries its best to make your stay as pleasant as possible. We also discovered during one of our many discussions that the hotel offers shelter to dogs and cats who have lost their owner. Something I can always appreciate and which shows the good nature of these people. We stayed in a 3 person bedroom with terrasse and view on the lake. The room itself was very spacious and offered all comfort a person requires: comfortable beds, wide clothing closet, serviceable bathroom (toilet, bath & sink. We didn't use the bidet :) but if you are into those tools it's present), small coffee table with chairs and of course a terrasse offering a chance to rest and enjoy the view from the privacy of your room. The rooms are cleaned each day. The hotel offers dinner options "à la carte" or if you chose the half-pension option, a 3-course terroire menu from which you can choose to your liking. Their wines are excellent and at a reasonable price. At the entrance of the hotel, there is a bar where you can have a refreshing drink after a long walk or a day at the Lake or just to enjoy the view onto the lake. Do note that on Tuesdays this one isn't open. In my opinion Auberge du Lac has well deserved its 2 stars as Logis de France (although it warrants 3 stars if you ask me) and is ideal for families in pass-by or for people who just love the old days and can enjoy the retro decorations. Their prices are fair and give price-value quality.

Situated in a typical Provençal village at the Lac de St-Croix. Ideal base to visit the Gorges du Verdon. The room we had was roomy/airy and had a terrace with a view at the lake, very recommended. Despite the heat outside, the room stayed cool enough to sleep despite the lack of A/C. But when it's cool enough you don't need it anyway. Breakfast is typically French with excellent honey. We enjoyed demi-pension that consists of a choice menu of 4 courses that should suit everyone who is at the very least a bit interested in French local cuisine. The wine selection is local and French. As in every region in France, it is recommended to pick local wines. Not only do they go best with local cuisine, they also benefit from a better price/value comparison. Wines are not cheap, but they are selected with care however. Although the entire staff is very good, I would like to thank "Jean" in particular. If he reads this review, he'll know who wrote it ;).
