Very simple guesthouse.... As the zone does not offer a big variety of restaurants there it is GUESTHOUSE STÖNG is perfect to eat and for this reason you can stay. My husband had a wonderful roasted lamb i ate - probably - the best trout ever. No bones and just perfectly done. All the food comes from the farm and it is really a great choice to eat in STÖNG Breakfast was delicious in all ways because of the quality and the variety.

We had the best icelandic dinner here and an excellent breakfast with tasty homemade bred , jam and waffels. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. Nice hot tub and friendly staff. At reasonable price. We will be back !

We stayed at this guest house out in the country and really enjoyed it. It was nice to see the sheep and baby lambs around as they were so cute. We stayed in the “rooms” outside of the main guest house. The room was spacious and very well equipped with a very good view The the breakfast was in the main lodge that was very nice. The owners were very friendly and happy to explain about the farm. We really enjoyed that. We would definitely recommend discuss house.

Our family of 4 we’re traveling the Ring Road, and we stayed here 1 night, and loved it! We stayed in Room 18 (No number on the outside of the cottage but literally in the parking area). Room was spacious (no bunk beds), had linen, a water cooker in room with coffee, tea, creamer & a bathroom with shower & towels. Breakfast was included, but not for guests in the cottages because they have kitchens; our room did not have a kitchen. Breakfast was delightful. Kids made their own waffles, the jellies were homemade from the area, as well as the breakfast items. The cook made fresh breads, and the lamb patte was delicious. Sweaters can be bought at the guesthouse, and the scenery is perfect for families. In our room was only one single stair, and the road in was gravel/dirt, so take your time. We recommend Stong Guesthouse to families, who are traveling the ring road & visiting Myvatn. Hverir, Cave, and Nature Baths (Blue Lagoon look-alike) are so close. We booked directly through the guesthouse, our family stay, because other sites wrote they were sold out. Enjoy!…

This is a charming guesthouse on a working farm, out in the country but just a short drive from the Myvatn attractions. The owners were amazing working with our group, and the food was terrific! Absolutely loved this place.

We rented two cabins, cabin 4 (bigger space and couch) and cabin 5 for 8 people. Five people stayed in cabin 4. The cabins were spacious, clean, and well-constructed; we wished we could've stayed for longer. Beds were comfortable. Outlets were limited but enough for our group. Fridge was functional.

Your feelings on this location will likely depend on where you are used to staying. If you are doing a hostel trip then you will likely think this is more than fine. If you’re staying in even basic hotels, this will be a bit of an adjustment. Think step below B & B if you’re a Western traveller. Clean but dated rooms with single beds and a sink. Room was quite overheated. Ours was at the top of a bizarre and very steep set of stairs. I have mobility issues, my husband does not and even he found it hard to navigate. Do not come here if you need any kind of accessibility; the hallways are narrow and there are plenty of short steps taking you to and fro through the building. There did not seem to be any rules for the shared bathrooms - other guests were hanging their swimsuits and clothing in it to dry and brushing teeth with doors open. The space and stay felt awkward - like we were staying at a friends’ grandparents ‘ old house in their kids’ old bedroom. Beds were hard. Linens and pillow scratchy. Breakfast was basic. Some people may be completely fine with all of it and find it charming; we just did not. Not what we expected when booking. I will note it was all that was available in the area. So if booking, you will now have a fairly honest idea of what to expect and perhaps you won’t be as disappointed as we were with not knowing.…

This guest house was one of the many we stopped at along the ring road. The accommodations were below par. Our floor shared a bathroom with 4 other rooms, way too many people for one bathroom . The bathroom was in bad shape, the floor got wet when showering and there was no bath mat or rug. The floor was also buckled in places The restaurant was average, make your own waffles, etc. we had dinner there one night and the fish dish was very good, I found the food better than the lodging, also it’s about 3 miles off the main road.

Standard rooms are ok although the beds are narrow and there is no tv. However, wifi is excellent and this is important. Unfortunately, the price for a room incl private bathroom is on the high side (actually you pay as much for this standard room as you do for a high class room in some 4 star hotels). Food is really good and the price is ok. You have 3 choices for main courses and that works fine for a 3 day stay. The place is very clean and Covid is taken seriously. Hospitality is great and you really fell welcome. Location is optimal for Myvatn.
