As I know the area (and the hotel when it was called the Ostan na Rossan) very well I was sure what to expect

The rooms were spotless and the breakfast (whilst being a buffet) was perfectly acceptable and plentiful.

Best thing is the location and the fact that you can fully open the windows and enjoy the sea air.

For a corporate hotel very good value indeed

My family and I really enjoyed two days here in August. This welcoming hotel is in the dungloe cove and has stunning views. The rooms feel fresh having been recently renovated. The food is excellent. A made to order breakfast is provided which is delicious and the evening meals are scrumptious and good value. All the staff go out of their way to make your stay welcoming and enjoyable. One of the staff organised a boat trip for us at a discount which was very helpful. The only improvement we would suggest is the quality of the wireless connection. All staff were all wearing masks as required in these times. We all really enjoyed our stay and hope to come back again soon.

We stayed here for 3 nights recently. The hotel is beautiful, bright, modern and clean. Staff were working very hard at sanitising and ensuring guests felt safe Until on Thursday night hotel had a special meal offer. Donegal was just about to go into lockdown and the bar was crowded...many locals were availing of the special offer and a last night out before lockdown. To add to our discomfort the lady manager (wearing visor ok) went around from table to table talking to guests. Totally inappropriate behaviour as I was so worried about the lack of social distancing already in the bar. We felt so uncomfortable about this we took our tea to our room to get out of bar as Covid cases in Donegal were climbing rapidly.
Dungloe and it’s surrounds are well worth a visit in safer times and this hotel is really good. Staff in general are super.

Dear Aine, Many thanks for choosing to stay at the 4 Star Waterfront Hotel for 3 nights and to review the Hotel. Thank you for the compliments in relation to our hotel being beautiful, bright, clean with staff working and recommending the Dungloe and surrounding areas for a visit. We can only apologise that the Thursday night, being the night before another lockdown was busier than the other two nights and your comments regarding table service. We take Covid very serious in the hotel and will raise this matter. As you had two days with no issues, we hope you can accept our apology and we look forward to welcoming you back again. Kindest Regards F. Elliott

My sister and I went to use the Ballroom toilets, as there was works being carried out in the main reception toilets, we followed the directional signage as displayed by staff. When we got to the toilets we were met by a member of staff who was smoking a cigarette in the corridor. This member of staff questioned what we were doing there, we said we have been directed to these toilets and proceeded to use them. We went to the breakfast room, only to be met by said member of staff who was handling food and stinking of stale tobacco. I find this astounding, as stated on your welcome pack there is €150.00 fine if guests are found to be smoking within the building or outside balconies.
This is the second time I have visited this establishment only to be met by rude staff.

Dear Guest, Many thanks for taking the time to visit and review the Waterfront Hotel. Our reception toilets underwent a refurbishment at the time of your visit and guests were directed to use the ballroom toilets. We are disappointed to learn that a staff member was using the corridor by the exit door to smoke. This has been brought to management level. We hope that we can make it up to you and welcome you back in the future. Kindest regards, F. Elliott

A once great hotel has taken a deep dive into poor service. We stayed here for one night as part of our week long staycation. The standard of service is poor, slow and unattentive. The quality of the food has slipped considerably compared to our last visit 2 years ago. The residents lounge is a joke this is the function room where you are banished to if you want to have a drink as you are not allowed to drink in the bar without food.
There is an additional building being constructed onsite so beware of noise and disruption not to mention being almost hit by a work van as we were leaving the hotel the following morning, workmen speeding through the carpark almost hit our car side on, this was the final experience to an already terrible stay.

I'm disappointed that I have to leave a bad review, however my experience of this establishment has left a bitter taste in my mouth. During an 8day family holiday in Dungloe in late july, we decided to dine in the Waterfront each night. At this stage, I should mention that we also invited my elderly parents to join us by booking them into the hotel for a period during our stay in Dungloe. We befriended the bar manager, who informed us that they weren't taking bookings for "walk ins "., however if we were up before 6pm everynight he would be able to accommodate our family of 5. On average we spent €120/night on food and never held our table to inconvenience anyone else looking for a table.
Unfortunately, not all the staff were as accommodating and we were refused entry on the final night of our holiday at approximately 6.02pm. I understand that we are all very aware of the covid restrictions and we all obeyed these restrictions by displaying our vaccine certs when required, however I feel very disappointed that after taking our custom for 7 nights at a total expense of €800 that we were not permitted to dine in the facility one more time because they had taken bookings that were not allowed every other night.

On a separate issue, I should also inform you that the disabled room that I purchased for my elderly parents contained an en suite that to use the song lyrics "stank like hell". On informing reception of this, my mother was told that the next time she books she should ask for the manger. I presume that this was to avail of some sort of discount.

To conclude, very disappointed that our own industry would treat our own natives this way. Typical example of the industry showing no regard for loyalty our return custom.

Rant over. It's still a very scenic location, but their customer care could do with a little refresher.

I attended a conference at the hotel last weekend and we stayed for two nights. The location of the hotel is absolutely stunning and the hotel itself is lovely. The staff were so kind and even made the effort to remember my name, which was really nice. The breakfast and lunch menu had plenty of options and the portions were of a good size. The rooms themselves were very comfortable.
I felt very safe staying at the hotel as they provided plenty of hand sanitizer and there was also a digital thermometer in the reception. I will definitely be returning!!!!!

We spent two nights in the Waterfront Hotel, Dungloe for a short midweek break It was a last minute decision and as we had never stayed in this part of Donegal and never been to this hotel we thought we would give it a try. On arrival we were greeted by the friendly receptionist who made the checkin procedure easy and were given a lovely bedroom with patio, (really requested a seaview room but none available) we soon realised that the patio rooms were a better option as the weather was sunny and we were able to enjoy the patio in the evening sunshine. Breakfast was excellent with the usual choices expected of a 4 Star hotel, cereals a plenty, porridge could be requested and was lovely, not a great choice of cold meats/cheese but the cooked breakfast had everything, fried or scrambled egg, black/white pudding, bacon, sausages, hash browns, beans, mushrooms, tomatoes, potato bread, toast and as much tea or coffee as you would want, very tasty. On our evening meal selection we had a problem with a steak not cooked as requested and came with skinny chips instead of chunky chips as per menu however the restaurant manager was very understanding and remedied the situation to our satisfaction, she was very apologetic although it was not her fault. We found ALL the staff from all the receptionists, the restaurant staff, the cleaners to the bar staff very pleasant, smiling and all gave the impression that they enjoyed their work which all added to a great experience for the residents.
Again, even the checkout was painless and departure was sad in that we would have liked to spend more days/nights in this hotel.
The Owners and Management of this hotel can be very proud of their staff as they made our visit a very pleasant experience.

I was pleasantly surprised by the Waterfront. The hotel have made a huge effort to make sure everyone is socially distanced. I felt very safe and relaxed during my stay. The room was bright and clean. More impressively breakfast was brilliant, we were full for the rest of the day. We really enjoyed breakfast, the food was very tasty and there was plenty provided. I would highly recommend this hotel, a hidden gem!
