Fabulous overnight with dinner at Ghan House. Beautiful old house, gorgeous rooms and bathrooms, spotlessly clean. Sustainable heating system. Lovely comfortable drawing room and bar - open fires. Delicious food, locally sourced produce, reasonably priced drinks, extensive and excellent value wine list. Wonderful welcoming staff and impeccable service. Excellent location a short walk to all of the amenities in Carlingford, yet private and quiet at night. Highly recommended and we will definitely go back.

Everything from the welcome to the comfortable room, exquisite food and fab wine not to mention the setting. A gem. Food and service second to none, a credit to the team and the welcome notes were witty and on point with everything covered as well as giving you a smile. Loved it, can't believe I didnt go to this fabulous place before. In your own private space yet 2 minute walk from the village where great music & craic awaits. Thank you Paul & team.

Dinner here. Chef's treat to start, a lovely soft and sauce filled fish cake in a great pastry tart. Then venison cooked to perfection, then the best desserts we've had in a long time, a banana tart, and a chocolate mousse with orange ice cream. All served in elegant surroundings with style and competence. We'll recommend this place.

My husband and I spent our last night in Ireland in this beautiful inn. We couldn’t be happier to have chosen to stay here. The room is so lovely and the location is perfect for a stroll into town. Our dinner was simply awesome! The setting is romantic and lovely and the selections were just delicious! Fine dining at its best. We enjoyed an after dinner with Paul at the bar. Terrific spot and perfect ending to our trip. Thank you!

Obviously saving the best till last! We're just a 1 hour drive from either Dublin & Belfast airports - so you're wise - staying in a lovely, comfortable Inn - with 4* bedrooms and 2AA Rosette restaurant, log fires & Medieval Carlingford is just a tree length away - far more convivial than a nondescript airport hotel! There's so much to see near & where we are; - UNESCO ancient burial chambers, mountain & sea walks, standing stones - Titanic museum ....even the UNESCO World Heritage site of The Giants' Causeway is just over a 2 hour drive - many guests start or end their journey in Ireland here in Medieval Carlingford. ....and wisely, like you, stay for more than one night to help recharge the batteries before they go home or appreciate all there is to see here and enter their Ireland trip with a restful couple nights' sleep and 2 or more very interesting days exploring! Thank you for choosing, enjoying and really getting what we have here & around us! Paul & all of us at Ghan House

I just celebrated my wedding at the Ghan house. To say it was a fantastic experience is an understatement from speaking with Orla and Claire initially to make arrangements. They were beyond helpful and responsive to meeting Paul the owner, who made every second relaxed and everyone feel at home. The service was outstanding, and the food was delicious, for every guest had rave reviews on the service, the hospitality and warmth from all the members of Ghan house! From me and all our guests, we want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who made this possible. It was such a pleasure speaking with Paul who told us the story of the Ghan. His passion shone through, and all his hard work and dedication, along with his team has made the Ghan house a true gem!

What a great start - a virgin contributor to Tripadvisor - you made the effort to register & write about us, we do what we do, you said I do I do I do on the day and together we all had a great time! Thank you for appreciating all that we do - it's the small things that add up to make your day the best it can be that we love doing - such as our tablecloths always come into us ironed - however, we still take the time to iron them again once on the table - small effect, big difference. We all love it here and glad you got to share it with us. Thank you for trusting us with the most important day of your adult life! Paul & all of us at Ghan House.

We just returned from a fabulous two day break to Ghan House. The house is very close to Carlingford and yet is set in lovely tranquil grounds. Lots of garden furniture around for guests to enjoy a quiet moment listening to the rustle of the trees & birdsong. The lady whom we met on arrival was very welcoming , friendly, highly professional and showed us to our room. I think her name is Hannah. We stayed in one of the garden rooms beside the main house. The room was both very comfortable, clean , had an old world vibe to it and had everything that you would require. There was Tea / coffee facilities in the room with a couple of small homemade cookies was a nice touch. The only very minor blip was the need for a few extra tea bags. There was also a nice range of irish made toiletries from the Hand made Soap company. The wet room with power shower was an adequate sized & suitable for those with mobility issues. While we were visiting a new walkway between the house & annex was being created to assist guests who use either wheelchairs or rollators . There are two electric charging points for cars available. We enjoyed both breakfasts each morning with an excellent selection of cold buffet & made to order hot breakfasts. The homemade brown bread was excellent I would highly recommend it. The lady serving breakfast was very friendly & helpful. Nothing was too much for her. On one of the evenings we enjoyed a sumptuous tasting dinner with matching wines from the Maison Sichel winery near Bordeaux. We were given an informative background to each wine by a member of the Sichel family. There was a relaxed ambience in the elegant dining room with lovely views of Carlingford harbour. The food was amazing and full complements to the chef. Service was delivered very professionally by both Paul and his excellent team. A truly outstanding event and would highly recommend any future events at Ghan House. Well done to all. We look forward to a return visit soon.

A discerning, well travelled guest - who likes to enjoy themselves! Thank you for appreciating all the effort we put in to make our guests enjoy their stay and noticing the little details we add. We're already planning the next wine grower visit to Ghan House - later this autumn we hope - to showcase their wines along with a tasting dinner - keep an eye on our website - we didn't need to advertise the last one and we had to put on an extra night to satisfy demand! Yes, thank you for noticing - our wheel friendly path will be completed this week! Thank you for taking the time out to write about us. See you for our next Special Event!

Our wedding was wonderful at Ghan House from start to finish. From first contact, Paul and the team were so easy to deal with, all the details were perfect - the room, the meal (the best wedding meal EVER by all accounts!) the laid back but attentive atmosphere. All brilliant. The bridal suite and all the rooms were absolutely top class standard. The building has been thoughtfully and tastefully restored. We plan to come back and stay every anniversary to bring back the memories. Great job team.

Always great to be appreciated for all that we do - thank you! ...and you're correct - we don't do 'wedding food' that the bigger hotel venues do - our chefs put the same amount of effort & care into your wedding day dinner that they do every day in maintaining their 2AA Rosettes for the restaurant! So glad you enjoyed it. The lockdowns during Covid gave us an opportunity to get all our bedrooms over & above the 4* spec they were already accredited with - the spec is what we would want when we go away - roll top baths, separate power showers & much more. Great job to you too - for giving us a great day that we enjoyed also - on your wedding day - and you write a pretty good review too! Thank you. Paul & all the team here at Ghan House

What a wonderful experience, it was so relaxing. Our host Hannah couldn't have been better, nothing was too much bother, Ghan House are lucky to have her. The dining room was lovely and our meal was second to none, everyone in our party of four enjoyed it immensely. We will definitely return as soon as possible, hopefully we'll be able to stay on the premises next time, booking early is the key I think. All in all first class, the staff are excellent.

Thank you David Hannah is indeed a great person to work with - we seem to attract like minded, very pleasant, hard working & respectful individuals who enjoy their work here - the others who aren't - tend to go their own way for which we're very grateful for that too! Glad you enjoyed the evening - and yes - stay next time - you'll appreciate us even more! As you say - book early to appreciate all that we do and us all that deliver!

We had a 2 night break in Ghan House last week. Beautifully restored old house located in centre of Carlingford. Our room in the main house was huge (a family room) with old style furniture. Very clean and comfortable. Spacious bathroom had Handmade Soap Co. products - a bonus! We had dinner in the restaurant on the Sunday evening. Great menu and food was well presented and delicious. We had monkfish and lamb for mains - cooked perfectly and very tasty. We enjoyed the cooked to order breakfasts too. Restaurant is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays so we took advantage of the sunny weather and had take- away fish and chips from nearby Feeleys while sitting in the beautiful Ghan House gardens. All the hotel staff we encountered were professional, pleasant and most helpful. EV charger available. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend for a relaxing break.

Thank you for your review - as you say - we're here to help you recharge - whether it's your car or your body, we've everything here to help you relax. As you noted - we're just a tree length away from Medieval Carlingford - so easy to walk to from within our secluded walled gardens. Glad you enjoyed your dinner and looking forward to seeing you again.
