Stayed here while motorcycle touring, excellent hotel in an old fort in the centre of Chaves. Good parking for bikes and cars alike. Lovely "rich" feeling hotel in an old historic building with all the mod cons. Staff very helpful and hard working they never stop. Rooms great, air conditioning and wifi, our bathroom a little dated. Superb pool area... More

A pleasant stopover in an old historic building with a modern flair. Rooms are bright and airy. Pillows were large and inflexible, good shower. They offer Internet but it is very hit and miss. Breakfast adequate. There is a swimming pool with a nice feel to it with bar close by. English is not really spoken by staff.

Their website does not do this hotel justice. Situated in an old fort which is a National Monument, the hotel overlooks the small town of Chaves but is only a five minute walk to the centre and the river. Bedrooms are comfortably furnished, breakfast is good quality and plentiful, and the whole ambiance of the place is tranquil. Loved it!... More

This hotel in a fort is worth a visit. The rooms are spacious but lack any work space (desk). The outdoor pool is great. The restaurant is big and formal so somewhat boring. The town just now has a new museum that is worth visiting.

Stayed for just one night. Standard room quite small, but fine for an overnight. Comfortable bed. Decent breakfast. Very interesting building. Didn't use swimming pool, but it is large and looked well maintained. Friendly staff.

Stayed here for 3 nights in June. Hotel is a cut above the rest, staff are polite and helpful, rooms range from large doubles to luxurious 4 poster beds. Setting on top of hill, ample car parking, even has its own chapel. Swimming pool with bar and entertainments from snooker to board games. Breakfast is plentiful with plenty of choices.... More

A wonderfull place, hotel is situated in the old fortress. There is a chapel, nice swimming pool, pool biljards, nice lobby both in the hotel as well as in the opposite buildings. However, mistakes are made on some crucial points for us. The Good: - Spacious rooms, nicely decorated - Large beds, enough pillows - Nice views, good atmosphere -... More

The hotel is the recovery of an old military fortress located almost in the city center. Fortunately the buildings’ exterior was not much changed and their interiors were completely rebuilt thought for the guests comfort. If you like to sleep in this kind of monuments/hotels you should not miss the opportunity – you’ll be treated as a high military rank.... More

I have stayed at this centrally located historic hotel several times. And I always enjoyed. It is close to the High School. and the Rua de Santo Antonio and the gardens and within walking distance of the many places to visit including the roman bridge. It is an historic property, first used as a monastery (the chapel has been restored... More
