Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

We came here on our first family holiday with children and my mum.
Nerja is 45 mins by transfer from Malaga airport and we had an excellent transfer arranged with fantastic coach service.

Weather was hot, between 27 and 30 degrees with one day overcast.

We stayed in Capuchino apartments a short walk from the Kanema bar and the The Pool Bar where access to the pool was.
There were 13 of us and we had three apartments. One was fairly updated and modern, one rustic and very nice and the third one was dated and poor, I say poor as the beds were awful.
There was a fold out bed for an 11 year old that was not fit for purpose and two other single beds also awful.
Air conditioning was dated and needs review.
All beds in the rest were average with toppers over the mattress which were basic.
The apartments were clean, with all mod cons and great views.
Unfortunately we did not read reviews before booking and they were quite high up with only stairs for access which was not good if you had reduced mobility or any breathing difficulties like my mum.

Believe it or not the altitude and the steps are not an ideal situation for those with reduced lung capacity, asthma or any mobility issues.

This is something to be very mindful, especially with older people or small kids and buggies.

A couple of trips up and down in a day was heavy going.

Nerja is hilly and everywhere is uphill it seems altho so beautiful and people were kind and friendly.

Bus service goes every hour to Nerja centro for one euro per person, leaving at 20 past the hour opposite Kanema bar Or the supermarket.

Small supermarket here with lovely staff and basic requirements which was fine but it was easier to eat out everyday we had breakfast and lunch the The Pool bar and it was fresh, tasty and lovely staff always kind and so helpful.

Taxis are reasonable at about 8e per trip into the centre, the weekend is impossible to get one. Get the bus or be prepared to wait an hour or more.

Burriana beach is close by and Nerja caves also to arrange a trip there.

Or one hour from Malaga also

I will attach photos to give you an idea of steps etc and hills but despite all that I would come back and stay closer to the centre unfortunately if with kids and my mum.

It's a lovely place where alot of Spanish holiday themselves and restaurants and bars are busy but really nice and good prices.

A very relaxed vibe, beautiful authentic buildings and friendly people.

Lovely villas. In a very convenient area and grants close access to shops. Rooms were quite cold on the first night, however once we had opened up the apartment, it was a warm, cosy place.
The cave restaurant was nearby and was lovely if you just wanted a relaxing night with traditional english food.
These villas were located near the beach, around a 15 minute scenic walk away. The beach had lovely cocktails, ice creams and restaurants.
The reason these villas did not revive 5 stars is because we did have to go and buy cleaning materials, for example cloths. The bathroom drains also occasionally gave off an odour but i’m sure this will be an easy fix.
For me, i liked the accessibility to the athletics track and the opportunity to run whenever i wanted.
Will be visiting again!

Encantadoras villas.
Volveré a visitar!

Had a lovely stay at el capistrano villiage. Great having my own private garden and balcony. Apartment is in need of an upgrade new bathrooms and kitchen is required but it was spotlessly clean and I would stay here again. It was very reasonably priced. So wasnt expecting the ritz 🙂 Great location very quiet it's a 20min or so walk into town which had great restaurants, it is a bit of an uphill climb on way back. Which wasnt a problem Two good supermarkets within walking distance. Fab would not hesitate to return

Nice complex but the accommodation was bad. No air conditioning - it was mid 30s !! No wi fi : no change of towels or maid service. Very tired apartment needs overhaul.
Reception were useless on our complaints and told us to take it up with booking.com. Have you ever tried to contact them??? Useless so may move over to Hotels.com. If I don’t get any response. Have sent two messages but no reply!!!
Curtains were ripped, cracks in ceiling and walls, shower heads loose to fixings and could not use.
Worse of all large pylon outside!!!

Nerja is a quaint place, certainly not for the faint hearted. Very hilly especially at the top end. El Capistrano is a beautiful complex but not pushchair or wheelchair friendly. We stayed 15 days and only seen cleaner once. We only had one towel and bedding change. Disgraceful. Reception closed at 2pm everyday, safe facilities are only at reception so useless. Another family were mistakenly given keys to our apartment whilst we were out. Got an awful fright on our return to see people in our apartment. Especially as we had nowhere adequate to leave valuables. Had to vacate property at 10am and as reception closed at 2pm we had nowhere to leave our cases until or pick up. Very disappointed, wouldn’t come back or recommend. 😟

We had a 3 bedroom ground floor apartment for myself, my husband and 2 teenagers. Very large apartment with excellent facilities. The only negative about our apartment was that it smelt very strongly of stale smoke and like it needed airing. Maybe not been used for long time due to pandemic. Very comfortable beds in one room but not in the other 2 where the mattresses were poor quality.

Place was very nice, great views, top level patio. Nerja had a great NYE celebration which was fun to attend to at Plaza Europa. You'll need a car to get around. We had problems finding EV charging stations but the map we used may have been out of date.

Spent a month here and was really impressed with the development. Very well maintained and a pleasure to stay in. Cosy little bar , the Cave Bar, with a great barman ( Paco ) and lovely home cooked food. Great 'happy hour' too. First time in Nerja and will definitely return.

The contents of each vary, but they should provide one! You should ask directly to who you booked with. Our last apartment there was very sparse

There is a bar and a restaurant not sure if they had entertainment as such but possibly the odd night of something going on.

We arrived beyond midnight and they posted a telephone number under the glass on the notice board that we had to call. It was about 10 minutes or so after that the lady came with the key to let us in the property. I would email then direct though just to confirm this arrangement.
