Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed for three nights, the hotel is excellent, the rooms very comfortable and the location suited our needs perfectly. Great service, food and drink from the staff too. I would highly recommend booking if you are considering a stay.

It’s an odd place, looks lovely from the outside and equally good on the inside but there are some oddities. There is no one receiving guests but you have to find a member of staff to be seated you can’t just find yourself a seat. Menus are brought to the table but you order and pay at a single till at the bar. We ordered two main courses and a couple of drinks after the three people in front of us were processed. We were asked to pay immediately. The food arrived quickly and was ok. I had a caesar salad with optional chicken and it was palatable but put together with little care. The chicken breast was pre-cooked and then had been put back into a pan to warm so was hard on one side, the bacon was a single rasher that had been cooked whole and then sliced roughly, single anchovy and no parmesan or black pepper. Tasted OK but missing key ingredients and thrown together quickly.

The location of this hotel is fantastic. It’s right on the high street, has its own car park and just behind the train station which is perfect for commuting to London. The food is also really good in here; over the past few months I have dined in here about 15 times for dinner/lunch and 1 breakfast and would recommend. It’s just a shame there doesn’t seem to be a bough staff- even when the restaurant is full at lunch time there are only about 2 staff members on shift and they also have to cover reception so service can be slow. I wouldn’t recommend staying here overnight. On the surface the rooms look clean, however there is a lot of dirt in them and they need a big spring clean. For example the carpets needed hoovering, there was dust everywhere, there was mould which hadn’t been kept on top of in the bathroom and it looked like the bathroom door hadn’t been mopped in ages due to dirt. It is a shame some of the room windows don’t open.

The Manager has got our Ramsbury Gold sorted out and we are very grateful . We meet every Friday for a few pints and at last someone who understands Real Ale has worked their magic and it is back to its creamy best. Thank you from the Friday Drinkers 🍺🍺

Nice old world, comfy pub for Sunday Roast. I got the 'trio' so I didn't have to choose. Meal and ale were good - Yorkshire pudding and carrots especially. The parsnip needed a bit more cooking and 2 of the 2 meats were a tad tough, but fine. Easy walk up High street from the train station and just up around the corner (front door not quite obvious).

I was on a business trip however this was a lovely visit. The bed was comfortable, the room had character and it was quiet. Lovely pub downstairs which had lots of character without being too cramped. Both dinner and breakfast was lovely too.

We visited this hotel for their wonderful cream tea and a lunch last year and loved it so much we decided to stay for a few days in May this year. Booked through booking.com on a reserve now pay 2 days before arrival basis. However, the hotel took the money straight away and have left me overdrawn. I rang the hotel who said if I cancelled they would refund me. The refund could take 7 days. So now I have no confirmed booking and have to cover an overdraft. Not impressed. Still hoping to stay in Hungerford but will probably have to find alternative accommodation. This is a very bad policy.

Stayed here Friday night and had dinner and breakfast. Great hotel all round with good service and great food. Highly recommended and was good value for money. Station car park is free for hotel residents which was a bonus too. Superior room was comfortable.

Lovely Hotel, great staff, great food, loved the room and Ellie on reception was a breath of fresh air! The hotel is in the centre of Hungerford making it an ideal location for the visit. The parking was easy and only a short walk away, would definitely stay again.
