Plato’s is set in the heart of Kirkby Lonsdale - once discovered never forgotten. On the edge of the Lake District, are the Dales and The Forest of Bowland. A pretty little market town set in the Lune Valley with wonderful walking, stunning views, and really good shopping. As a boutique hotel, we understand that one of the joys of going away is to have a touch more luxury than you do at home. So that is why in our higgledy-piggledy old building, we have made sure that every room is unique. The only thing that is standard is comfort - the ultra-luxury Vi-Spring beds, the crisp cotton linen, the stacks of fluffy white towels, the state-of-the-art flatscreen TVs, the luxurious en suite bathrooms some with baths and others with rainfall showers, gorgeous local Bath House toiletries. All prices are per room per night and include our sumptuous breakfast which is served until 10 am so you really can have a lazy lie-in (and check out on the day of departure is 11 am). We are so excited to launch our new menus and be the first wine bar in Kirkby Lonsdale to embrace the vibe of social dining. Whilst sitting in a relaxed atmosphere, Plato’s will be offering sharing boards and smaller plates, featuring the absolute best in locally sourced charcuterie, cheese, breads, vegetarian options, and desserts to die for! These will be served alongside fine wines, our famous cocktail menu, local draught, and craft beers, and an excellent selection of quality spirits.

Just back from a 4 night stay here & can’t wait to return.
The staff were simply amazing, with special thanks to Ronnie for going above & beyond.. we were always welcomed each time we came back to the hotel, a lovely touch, it was like coming back home. The room was spotless & the beams made it so cosy, so many little touches the room was just perfect. The bed was so comfortable, great shower, large soft towels. The view from our velux windows was amazing.
The breakfast was delicious with a good choice, all freshly cooked, we had 2 evening meals which again were lovely, no complaints at all. I would definitely recommend this to family & friends who were staying in the area.

Stayed for just 2 nights, the room was compact, well set out and clean, the bed was comfortable with plenty of pillows.
The breakfast menu was varied the service first class, the food it's self was superb and beautifully presented.
Evening meal was again superb great choice of dishes served and presented by great staff, it was nice that the kitchen was open plan and we were able to interact with the chef's, really relaxed and making for a very pleasant evening.
The bar was comfortable with plenty of choice of beers, quite a few locals in that created a nice atmosphere.
Overall we had a relaxing stay thanks to a great team. The parking permit is also a bonus on what is a quiet expensive car park.

Hotel is located in the centre of Kirkby Lonsdale and both the look and feel of the hotel oozed class on entry.
We were welcomed immediately and in our room in a matter of minutes.
The staff were excellent and the bar had a great buzz about it and mostly populated with friendly locals.
Room facilities were better than expected for the price and the bed was very comfortable giving us a great nights sleep.
Breakfast was perfect regards quality and quantity as we picked the not quite so full English breakfast both mornings.
Would definitely recommend Platos to my friends and family and looking forward to our next stay.

First floor room above entrance to courtyard. Clean and lovely and bright during the day. Boutique dimmed lighting at night. Little noisy due to location but not a problem as ear plugs provided. Difficult to open single glazed original sash windows and room was a little warm (no heating on.) Guessing either due to the sun or ventilation/fridges from the kitchen or bar below. Would be a fabulous room in winter though!
Despite loving dogs, I am extremely allergic and this room was a pet free room and I never sneezed or needed my inhaler once. The hotel common areas were also extremely clean and fresh with no hint of pet odour/hairs - unlike the Royal Hotel. If you’re allergic to animals, look no further than Plato’s.

We stayed here for two nights and everything was fantastic. The staff were very welcoming as soon as you step in the door and we were shown to a very clean, comfortable, modern, spacious room with all the amenities you need.

The bar and restaurant were modern and warm and staff were attentive to your every need. The food was delicious in the evening and the breakfast delicious and cooked to order so very fresh.

The location was excellent and a great bonus not to have to pay for parking.

Thank you to everyone at Plato's, we will definitely be returning.

We had booked a standard double room at Platos. Although small, it was sufficient. The room had lovely funishings, a very comfortable bed, lovely linens and the walk in shower was supplied with locally sourced shower gels and lotions. I would like to mention though that we had to squeeze between the bed and wall to get to the other side of the bed and we are very slim people! The staff was very helpful and friendly. In particular Lauren who looked after us at breakfast time. Platos is in the old part of Kirby Lonsdale. There is no parking but you are provided with a permit for the local car park, a 5 min walk away. We enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to book a room at Platos again.

This was my 2nd time staying at Plato's, this time with my daughter, and it was every bit as good as when i came with my husband. Lovely room with comfy beds, excellent food and very friendly and helpful staff. Complimentary coffee is great although the coffee from the bar was too weak for us, but when we mentioned this our coffees were made in the kitchen each time and were good and strong. We didn't ask for this, it was just done, and we were so grateful. The lounge and bar areas are so nice and there is courtyard seating too. Platos is in the centre of the village in a brilliant location and although there is no parking at Platos, guests are provided with a parking permit for one of the village car parks. We had a perfect weekend here.

Thank you for our lovely overnight stay. We both really enjoyed our meals and were thrilled to have so much choice on the mains menu with both being gluten sensitive/intolerant. However, bearing in mind I let you know of our dietary requirements when I booked (which someone thanked me for saying it was helpful) we were really disappointed to discover only one desert out of maybe 6 was gluten free, and that was ice cream or sorbet, when I'd psyched myself up for something more cakey. Then for breakfast we were let down again for there to have been no gluten free alternatives provided (it's not difficult to find good quality, reasonably priced gluten free sausages). We also couldn't have the black pudding. To be fair, extra bacon was offered instead of a sausage, and I asked for extra mushrooms for us both so we certainly didn't leave hungry, but we find all too often that people who are gluten sensitive just aren't catered for on the whole. The quality of the food largely outshone the negatives but my advice would be, if someone lets you know of a dietary requirement, especially one like ours which we follow on a daily basis to avoid feeling unwell, please act upon it. I guarantee it will make that guest feel so welcome, and they, of course, will tell their friends!
We did have an issue with our room (number 7) too which was a very thin wall with our neighbours meaning we could hear their voices very clearly. They probably didn't hear us as we used our 'inside a hotel room' voices! It's fab that you supply ear plugs, I use the very same ones for when my husband has the audacity to breathe in his sleep (!) but it's not ideal. Not sure what the answer is but I do know that 2 sheets of soundblock plasterboard won't work (been there, done that!).
The decor throughout is stunning, the courtyard is beautiful and we loved the fire. All staff were fantastic, so helpful and friendly. We had some lovely chats with the owner.
I know it's a very moany email but hopefully it'll help future guests.

Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. We are glad you enjoyed your stay with us overall. Thank you for your suggestions for our Gluten-free guests and we welcome the feedback so we can work on improving our service for future customers. We are constantly striving to keep the hotel up to date with renovations and décor and apologize if you had noisy neighbours that you could hear from the room! It is an old building so the insulation between rooms probably isn’t as soundproof as desired. Wishing you all the best and hoping you will come back for another stay with us in the future. Warmest regards Rob

Stayed here for one night plus dog. The room was very spacious with the facilities needed. Even had room for the dog crate. We stopped in room 7 which also had a lovely view of the main street. Dog also loved this to stare out at other dogs. The only downside of the rooms is it was an very hot room with a thick duvet. Struggled to get to sleep even with the windows all opened. Just ended up sleeping onto of the covers in the end. I was in two minds to bring my fan but I didnt wish I did in the end. We also noticed the room walls were very thin i am an extremely light sleeper so another person snoring was also keeping me up at night. The location could not be any more perfect ideal for devils Bridge and ruskins view and other plenty of walks.
Breakfast was very delicious! However it did quote on the menu granola and yoghurt whilst we wait for our main to come this never came. However the dog got a sausage instead which then didn't matter to us the main meal was delicious.
Overall we have had a lovely stay here. Couple of negatives but we still would recommend and stop here again if we ever got the chance.
Covid protocols were also very good. Noticed cleaning being done even when staff were very busy and hand sanitisers were placed every where.
