Located conveniently for access to Newcastle and major roads, The Seaton Lane Inn is often described as charming and welcoming by many travelers, offering a well-furnished and quirky environment. While the service generally receives high marks for friendliness and efficiency, there have been occasional reports of inattentiveness. The amenities, including a friendly bar and good food, are usually appreciated, though not without some criticism regarding breakfast. Rooms are praised for their cleanliness and comfort, yet some guests find them lacking in space and lighting. The inn's value for money receives mixed reviews.

My cousin and I stayed here for 2 nights.
Check in was quick and easy even with all the extra covid rules in place. All staff had ppe and plenty hand sanitizer stations throughout.
Our room was clean, and the beds were so comfortable. Bathroom was fab and the shower was amazing. The complimentary toiletries smelled divine as well.
The cups in the room are a good size too for those that like a brew, and the kettle fits under the tap, not something I've found happens often.
Breakfast was massive and filling, we a both had the full English but the choice was extensive.
The evening meals where just as filling and tasty. We had the steak pie one evening and gammon, it was a huge piece and came with salad and chips. We both wanted sticky toffee pudding but always too full. We called back after checking out after our last sea glad hunting trip, and it was the best sticky toffee ever. One of the foods that you don't want it to end. Try it, you won't be disappointed.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Not one thing to mention that is a negative.
The one thing that struck me throughout is the staff. Friendly, every single one of them that we met. We had a laugh, great banter, and they went above and beyond. Special mention to Bobbie who supplied us with all the brew stuff we needed. Thank you to each and every one of you for making us feel safe, yet as comfortable as we do in our own homes. You are doing a amazing job in such difficult times. Thank you from us both. See you all again soon.

I had booked an accessible room but on arrival in car park all available entrances were stepped with the one level one atThe front displaying a no entry sign due to one way COVID system. On entering staff were very friendly and advised a level entrance was at the far side of the hotel would be helpful if this was sign posted in car park. The room was clean and well enough equipped with a large shower unfortunately pressure was low but passable. Breakfast was adequate in quantity but sausages poor much like supermarket basic service was good. Dinner was a bit hit and miss on quality . Garlic mushrooms were tasteless and pan fried liver was served on a mix of black pudding mash potatoes and veg. It again was totally tasteless and the lumpiest mash I have ever had. The Whitby scampi and gammon steak were however very good. As far as service went staff were excellent and very friendly but might as well not bothered with face masks as they had them up and down so many times when serving. Yes they have one way system, plenty of hand sanitizer and collect contact details but they break their own distancing rules. It was at 1700 hrs on Saturday 8th August when a group of 10 males came in and complained to staff they had booked a table but the tables and screen to provide distancing had a max table for 6. They insisted and staff removed barrier put tables together to accommodate all 10. The males were an older group so not young ones breaking the distancing rules and obviously known to staff so were probably locals. I can understand why pubs could be closed again due to such flagrant rule breaking. Could be a good enough budget hotel if quality of food was more consistent staff try their best and are friendly but let down by poor supervision. Not one to use if you are COVID concerned until they stick to the rules.

Super place.
Easy booking, had to ensure i had a ground floor room as i was travelling with a giant breed dog with me who is not good with stairs.
Easy check in. Lovely room and great dinner in the bar area where the dog could stay with me.
On arrival the dog was brought a bowl of water and a bowl of goodies.

Stayed here for one night as a family of 4. Check in was quick and friendly.
Room was very clean, comfortable and relaxing for the nights stay. The room facilities were all good.

Then we experienced the restaurant. We were stunned by how beautiful its decor is and opted to eat there opposed to trying somewhere else. The service we recieved was very poor. The female waitress looked stressed, this came out in her service to us. She huffed and puffed when we asked for a menu having been sat down for 20 mins. It was the same person who directed us to our seats, surely giving a menu to us them would have been common sense. It took another long while before we had our drinks orders taken, again the wait to have them was also long. The staff member didnt appear to have much logic during service as she would bring one thing to us then leave us sitting without cutlery, leaving mains in the kitchen. When asking what the house red wine was, she sharply replied 'French ' she did not know how to respond further so she then brought me a wine menu, slapping in abruptly onto the table.
The rest of the evening continued much the same. Other tables waited very long periods between courses, everything was just a bit hap hazard.
One thing that I have to mention is the covid measures in place. There was hand sanitsers in the restaurant and staff wore face coverings. However these are only effective when worn correctly. The above waitress continually removed hers down to her chin, crouched down to our table when taking our food orders with her face covering removed. Later we observed her rubbing both hands across her face then slide her face covering back up.

Its such a shame the restaurant staff let this place down. Some good training in customer service, how to greet and interact with customer's wouldn't go a miss.
They said they were short staffed however the basics should be covered.

If looking to visit then we couldn't fault the rooms and would return for that reason only.

Our first night away since the beginning of the pandemic and we were very pleasantly surprised. The Inn was very well prepared with a one way system and screened off booths and was spotlessly clean throughout. All staff members wore masks and explained procedures clearly and cheerfully.

We stayed for one night as a couple with out dog who was welcomed with the same positive enthusiasm as the human guests. Even the cleaning staff made a big fuss of him. There are separate areas of seating which are pet friendly and bowls for animals are readily available.

The room was lovely, very comfy bed, well stocked toiletries and beautiful rainfall shower. Again everything was spotlessly clean and well organised.

We ate at the restaurant in the evening as well as for breakfast and the food arrived in a timely way was really nice and the staff very attentive. One of us eats only gluten free and this was catered for with ease and we noted other guests vegan and vegetarian requests met confidently.

We have not stayed at this group of hotels before but we are already planning to book this particular Inn again within the next month with some of our relatives. We will also be looking at other Inns owned by the same group.

Stayed for one night on Sat 20th Nov in room 1, the room was large, very clean & tastefully decorated, the bed afforded a really good nights sleep, only observation would be, open the window before you go to bed as it gets really warm during the night.

There was a bit of a wait for breakfast as everyone appeared to descend at once, but it was lovely, very filling.

The staff were absolutely lovely, so cheerful which is a rarity at the moment as many people are a bit solemn, an absolute credit.

Two positives, the room was good, good shower and bed and the staff were lovely. Unfortunately we won’t be visiting this or any other pubs in the inn collection again. Issues started when we rang on the way to book a table for that evening, just a central call centre who were not answering. The pub is not as described, a countryside pub with exceptional dining, it’s ok in at best a semi rural location. We had booked to include evening meal. First night I asked for the salad, it was not available. First breakfast, no mushrooms. Second evening, of 12 possible mains 6 were not available. We ordered Camembert started with ciabatta. We no explanation we were served Camembert with a piece of toasted sliced white bread cut into 4 fingers. The manager could not suggest any solution other than crediting our meal back and we went out to eat. The next morning at breakfast my husband wanted the breakfast roll served in a stotie, no rolls left, just sliced white bread. I had the kipper with a poached egg and grilled lemon. Kipper was good, egg was inedible, it would have bounced and no sign of any lemon. The inn markets itself as serving local food freshly prepared, but this can’t be the case if they are running out of food and can’t restock (there are local shops) - the local manager handled this when we left as well as she could, very apologetic and credited the advance paid food plus a small gesture towards drinks (£4) but overall we were left distinctly unimpressed

We booked 2 rooms, our friends were travelling with a large dog who was made to feel welcome by all.
Our stay was a inclusive deal (breakfast and £20 per person per night off an evening meal). The rooms were very good (just refurbished) the food was good and parking was free and on site.
Made our stay very comfortable and welcoming

I have stopped here before and having enjoyed it then decided to stop whilst away on business.

It's a nice place to be, quiet, with well appointed, comfy rooms. The bathroom has high quality fixtures and fittings with the shower being very powerful (no bath if that's your thing).

It was convenient for our first two meeting and both our evening meals and breakfast in the morning were cooked and presented nicely.

We booked the room via Booking.com, however it is cheaper and you get better deals if you book direct with reservations.
Right now, where to start…the Inn is about a 40 minute walk from the town centre, promenade. Too far for me personally to walk but there is ample parking available and we didn’t have to pay.
The room is lovely, spotlessly clean and well decorated. It has a lovely cosy feel to it.
The food is delicious, the menu is varied and caters for everyone….even fussy eaters like me! The portions are large and you definitely wouldn’t go away hungry. I can recommend the steak and ale pie and the sticky toffee pudding. There is plenty of choice at breakfast.
The staff are absolutely delightful. They are kind, helpful and always smiling despite being rushed off their feet during busy times. They can’t do enough to ensure that your stay is a positive experience.
It’s definitely worth a visit.
