Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We booked a 3 night break at the last minute and we were very lucky in that, although it rained in a way that Noah would have recognised on our journey down to Suffolk, we had perfect weather. However, even if the weather had done it’s worst, we would have enjoyed our stay. We stayed in Melford cottage which is a tiny, beautifully laid out cottage for 2 with its own hot tub. I imagine that in the summer it would be lovely to sit outside on the patio, it wasn’t quite warm enough for that! The swimming pool is a few steps away and we swam in it twice a day; it didn’t affect us, as most of the time we were the only people in, but there is only one shower in the changing room and that might be a pain if it were busy. The swimming pool is lovely and the water is just at the right temperature. We didn’t have time to really walk around the farm area or feed the chickens etc. but would if we were there for longer. There’s so much to do in the area, NT properties, beaches etc etc. The only problem we found, coming from much further north, was the volume of traffic on the Sunday! I’d certainly return here and can’t recommend it highly enough.

It was our first holiday since our second daughter was born (aged just 6 months) and it was absolutely amazing being able to go somewhere without having to bring a changing mat, bath and all the paraphernalia that comes with young children. Our children adored the hot tub, the animals and the cottage was beautiful - with so many thoughtful touches such as a loaf of fresh bread, milk, jam and coffee capsules/machine on arrival. Lots of local activities for children too. We hope to stay again and would recommend to all families with young children!

Wow! This was by far one of our favourite places to stay, so many great things such as; generous welcome pack, eco toilet rolls, kitchen supplies, views everywhere- a fishing lake where you can easily catch fish! (Equipment provided) The house - Chelsworth- extremely spacious with en-suite to all bedrooms, large kitchen & dining table so no one was left without a seat! Hot tub in the garden which was fenced in so very safe for children & dog! Many evenings spent from living room & garden watching sunset in one direction & views over Stour Valley in the other! Wi-Fi, helpful information pack & Amazon fire tv plus free view on all 5 tv’s - not that we got to watch tv - we were far too busy feeding the pigs, horses & collecting chicken eggs! Facilities on the farm were plentiful- we were worried we wouldn’t be able to do them all but we did! Most times we had the indoor pool to ourselves & there is so much outside space that we rarely saw anyone else on our walks. Really appreciate the farms eco credentials & impressed with the solar panels that move with the sun! I could keep in writing but would suggest a thorough explore of the website which gives all the info we need! We have already booked our family holiday next year but we will def be back for May 2025 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ One last mention for the honesty shop - well stocked - we enjoyed a couple of relatively locally sourced wine 🍷

We had a lovely 3 night stay at Gladwins farm. We stayed in the Lavenham cottage, and had a great weekend. The staff were friendly and helpful, our 2 year old toddler loved feeding the animals, playing in the playground and exploring on the woodland walk. The scenery was beautiful, and we even got lucky with having the indoor pool to ourselves both mornings. We enjoyed the hot-tub both nights and slept comfortably. Would 100% recommend, and would be keen to return in summer to enjoy the bbq!

We really enjoyed our stay at Gladwins. The cottage was very well equipped with plenty of towels and cleaning products. The farm is very peaceful. Our 4 year old enjoyed feeding the animals and swimming in the very warm swimming pool. We enjoyed the hot tub in the evenings. We really appreciated the little gestures such as biscuits and fresh bread on our arrival. Lots to do in the surrounding area. A great place for a family to relax and unwind. Would designedly book again!

Firstly this place pays lip service to ‘good service’ and ‘dog friendly’ Dogs are not permitted on furniture or in the rooms. They are not to be left alone even for 30 minutes. We were accused of our dogs urinating on the deck, which is composite not wood, and it smelling one day after we arrived. This was not the case and found the grate for the drainage split and a foul sewage smell coming from it. It was also coming into our lodge, where we were offered no cleaning up afterwards. Two days in and it made us feel like we were unable to relax and it spoilt our two week £3k trip. When we asked whether everything was left in good working order when we left, we received a really snotty email back saying ‘we really didn’t have a problem with the dogs being there’. But the email sent stated otherwise. We really wanted this to be somewhere where we would have returned time and again, but unfortunately this was not going to be the case after making us feel like lepers. We are respectable hard working people that own our own rental properties and therefore would never damage others’. Also, sofas were uncomfortable and the bed is not king size. No wardrobes and nowhere to put make up on sat down (ie a dressing table). Rooms were incredibly hot and couldn’t turn down the heating. Internet wasn’t working at all until partner found the switch to turn on the modem! My sister in law described their ‘rule book’ as mein kampf. Additionally, they ask the house is spotless before you leave including beds stripped and old bedding put in the baths etc. A shame the owner has a discourteous way of dealing with customers when you’re there as it is a lovely location. I did not pay over £3k to be spoken to like she did on email and it made for an unpleasant stay.

Response from Susie Bradshaw, Owner at Gladwins Farm
Responded 28 Feb 2023
Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback about your stay in one of our new lodges at Gladwins. We value all the comments we receive and are always looking to improve on the service and facilities we provide. We were sorry to read that you had an 'unpleasant stay' via TripAdvisor three months after your stay as your final email to us on 16 October 2022 thanked us for your stay and for the full return of your deposit. With regards to our dog policy, as you know, we allow a maximum of two dogs per property and ask that they are kept off the furniture - this is to protect the furniture for your comfort and also for future guests too. We also ask that they are not left alone at our properties, again to minimise any damage that might occur, or prevent any noise disturbance for our other guests. We were happy to accommodate your five dogs, after a misunderstanding about the number of pets staying, and waived the additional pet fees normally incurred. We also apologised for the misunderstanding relating to your dogs and the patio - both during your stay and afterwards; our communication was in no way meant to be interpreted as snotty - we're sorry to hear that is how it was received. Our new lodges use a sustainable septic tank and at the time of your stay we were having a few issues which resulted in a smell. We did offer to relocate you to alternative accommodation in light of this during your stay, which you declined to do. The heating system to the new lodges is thermostatically controlled within each room with the ability to completely turn off the system if guests choose to. The lodges are Tourist Board rated 5 star gold so they have to have storage and hanging space for clothes, king size beds, a chair and mirror in the rooms to achieve this rating. Our welcome book provides 'dos and don'ts' whilst staying at Gladwins - this is to provide the best experience for all guests, both for those currently staying and those booked to stay in the future. We hope this reply sheds light on the issues that you have raised, should you want to discuss your stay any further, please do get in touch with us directly.

My family and I stayed from 21st to 28th December in the Oak and Willow lodge. And Gainsborough cottage. It was just wonderful, magical in every. It provided the accommodation for the best Christmas ever. It is so well equipped in every way for a family of 16. Crockery cutlery, kitchen utensils were of the highest calibre. The bedrooms were so nice with high end bedding and comfy beds. The lovely touches provided by the host on arrival of Christmas decorations, chocolates, mulled wine were greatly appreciated. The hot tubs were so clean and the swimming pool proved a great hit.. the walks around the estate were envigerating and the local pubs so friendly… we all absolutely could not fault Gladwins farm and will definitely be returning. Thankyou susie for everything.

The complex is very good and well laid out with good facilities. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, however some reinvestment is required into the accommodation to reflect the price charged. The mattresses, pillows and duvets are reminiscent of a cheap hotel, uncomfortable and with stains, they are all overdue a replacement.

We rented three cottages for our first stay at Gladwins and although we had some family issues which meant we had to change some of our plans we had a lovely time. Despite some problems that were not anyone's fault these were handled quickly and extremely fairly by Catherine and Susie and it didn't stop our grandchildren and us having a lovely time. It is such a safe and fun location for children and it's such a joy to see them running around enjoying themselves without the adults feeling worried. The facilities are great and the children loved the animals. We've already booked again for next summer.
