Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We love this place. Perfect place for a getaway for the night - lovely rooms and delicious dinner. The service was second to none and the food is always brilliant. We love the restaurant and the wine selection. The location makes for a very relaxing stay

Our second visit to this delightful hotel. We again stayed in the lovely Chanterelle room with a balcony overlooking the gardens. It is a very quiet and restful hotel with attentive and helpful staff. The evening meal was wonderful and the Cote de Boeuf to die for. We felt well rested. Guy REALF

We came here on our way home as it was my husband’s 70th birthday , we had been with family and our small dog in an Airbnb and this was just for us to enjoy on our route home … we were in the small cottage next to where the building work was taking place. Although our dog was kindly provided with biscuit treats and his own towel he was not allowed even into the hotel bar. It’s my error for not asking before booking , we wanted a drink before dinner and so had to go off and find a dog friendly pub. My only negative it’s a beautiful location but if we return we wouldn’t bring our dog .

We stayed here the day I proposed to my fiancé. It was fine, the cottage we were in was comfortable and nicely furnished. Some of the staff members were lovely and very accommodating. Others were not. The food was a big let down though (and one of the reasons I chose The Mead), we ordered a £70 steak which came way over cooked. When we said this to the staff they said ‘what do you want me to do about it?’. We said it to a few members of staff but no one tried to resolve the issue or offer anything other than a shrug and a sorry. The rest of the dishes were fine, nothing to write home about. Overall a good stay given what we were celebrating, but wouldn’t rush back given the quality of the food and price.

We went for afternoon tea which was lovely, we were sat in the lounge next to the fire so it was very cosy. The food was very good, fresh, tasty and we took a couple of cakes home as there was plenty and we couldn't finish it all. We have booked to go again! We have also stayed here for a wedding a couple of years ago and it's just such a romantic place. Definitely recommend, the staff are friendly and very helpful too.

We stayed in the Hawthorn Suite which nice but lacked a few features that you would expect in a deluxe suite (No Bath, Very small toilet 3ftx3ft I mean very small, Windows faced other customers that could straight into the Shower room, to use the toilet in the night you have to put the light on in the whole room, No staff on the main bar which closed at 11.15pm then you had to move into the lounge with no toilet facility, After the evening meal the coffee machine had been cleaned down so you could not have a coffee, The food in the hotel was very good and were the staff. Unfortunately that would put us off staying at the Hotel in the Future such a shame Neil Brand

We had our wedding here a couple of weeks back and everything went perfectly. Everything was just as we wanted, we'd had a few meetings with their events team and they were so accommodating through the whole process from start to finish. All the staff throughout all of our visits and particularly on the day were amazing! They were all so kind and excited for us and made the whole day stress free. We decided to decorate the venue ourselves and the staff were more than happy to help us with this too. I couldn't recommend this venue enough, it's in a beautiful walled garden area so you don't feel like the other hotel guests are around, the garden is also so lovely that it feels like you don't need as many decorations as the ceremony room looks out over it. And the food was amazing, all of our guests loved it and there was so much choice to choose from too. It was hard to narrow it down. We had an afternoon tea for our wedding breakfast and it was lovely. Along with canapes both at cocktail hour and in the evening. It's also very well and competitively priced for both the venue and their catering. Definitely one of the most affordable venues around and for the level of care the team puts in, the amazing food and the lovely venue itself it's well worth every penny and much more!

A pretty hotel, artistically decorated, in attractive grounds running down to the river, this hotel totally met our expectations. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and the whole ambience relaxing and attractive. My husband and I were there 4 nights, and our daughter stayed one night separately; both rooms were upgraded, our daughter from a smallish attic room to a large double (which we liked so much we have booked it for later in the year), and we were upgraded from a small double to a separate cottage, which was spacious and well-equipped, although slightly lacked the elegance of the Georgian rooms in the main house. Breakfast was plentiful, delicious and with an extensive range of options, and we also had a treatment each in the hotel - very pleasant. We ate in one evening and the food was very good.

Norfolk Mead Hotel is one of my favourites. I have chosen Norfolk Mead Hotel to celebrate my last few birthdays, including my 50th last May (2023) for tea and scones with my Mum and Dad.. I have taken beautiful photos in the grounds that are even more special as we lost dear Dad at the end of 2023. Today , I attended to use my 50th birthday present vouchers for beauty treatments. A lovely gold facial and superb hot herbal massage. Thankyou to Hannah and Isabel. I highly recommend the treatments . Norfolk Mead is a smart, quiet country hotel. It feels so homely with the big plush sofas and cushions. Staff are attentive and friendly and always make you feel special. Can't wait until the new spa opens. Norfolk Mead will remain a special place for me.

What a lovely hotel, our room was beautiful and overlooked the garden. It had a lovely seating area and terrace although the terrible weather meant we didn't get full use of it. The staff are wonderful and look after you so well. Breakfast was lovely and the two evening meals we had were amazing, what a great chef they have.
