Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

You know you have arrived at a good place when your horse is given a stable after a long day riding. Heidi & Hugh reserved us a friendly welcome in their beautifully appointed Hill Farm. From the refined decoration of the bedroom, the comfortable bed, the delicious breakfast to the best quality fodder for my horse, Hill Farm has it all. Bonus for me was to be able to see my horse across the courtyard! Thank you.

Positives: Peaceful and quite, lovely views. Nice welcome card outside door on arrival. Negatives: Breakfast choice extremely poor. No breakfast menu, it’s a case of you get what you’re given. We have never experienced this anywhere. Day one, despite asking for a vegetarian breakfast was only provided with scrambled eggs on toast which I didn’t ask for or want. Day two, again provided with fried eggs on toast that were rubbery in texture and overdone so inedible. Two adults only provided with one slice of white toast and one of brown cut in half and no option to ask for more given it was room service only. Each morning breakfast came with a quarter glass of orange juice, a quarter glass of muesli, yogurt and fruit with way too much honey making it all overly sweet. Asked for a pot of tea for two which came with 4 tea bags in the pot making this extremely strong despite the amount of milk added and so unable to drink. We really struggle to understand why majority of the population can not make tea, it’s not coffee it’s tea! A minimum of 1-2 tea bags is all that is required. We stayed in the Hare room which was lovely but we were kept awake by the people in the adjoining room so if you book either and someone is in the other room chances are you will hear each time they go to the bathroom or in and out of their room which is not what you want. No toothbrush holder in bathroom so had to rest toothbrushes on surface by the sink. Toilet flush was very weak and had to be flushed up to 3 times, very frustrating. Overall disappointed,

Room Tip: All local pub menus are very similar and so a limited choice in what you can eat.

Thank you Heidi and Hugh for a marvellous stay at hill farm. Our whole experience from start to finish was 5 star, thank you also for welcoming out little dog Tilly. The breakfast was lovely and to sit in our lovely room eating your delicious honey was amazing. All in all it was one of the best stays we have had in a long while and cannot highly recommend it enough. Ideal place to stay for visiting the amazing scenery on the north Norfolk coast . What a gem, luxurious accommodation in the most stunning of settings. Warm friendly welcome from Heidi, sumptuous bedroom and the most delicious of breakfasts enjoyed in the great outdoors. 5 star establishment with the added bonus of bees (fresh honey for breakfast), inquisitive and friendly deer, flower gardens, tennis court; the list goes on. Would highly recommend, plus the local pub is within walking distance and Great Massingham itself is a delight to explore.

What an amazing place Hillary Farm is , our 5 night B&B stay in the Stables could not have been more appreciated, from taking breakfast in the perfect setting that is the wall garden , to walking the grounds and meeting the animals and wildlife. Huge & Heidi are the PERFECT hosts, nothing is too much trouble and you are made to feel very welcome. Hill Farm is perfectly situated for days out visiting the beautiful Norfolk Coast and Heritage Sites, and we are all ready considering the luxurious barns for our annual family get together .

We only stayed one night in this beautiful place, we wish it had been longer! The room was 5 * accommodation with very comfortable beds, spacious, excellent shower and lovely extra welcoming touches. Delicious flap jacks and tea and coffee on arrival. The grounds of the property are amazing with deer roaming in the field opposite and hens wandering around. We also met their adorable new puppy! The hosts are extremely welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was served in a lovely walled garden, we felt like we were in Tuscany! Well worth a visit . Thank you Hugh and Heidi.

What a warm welcome we received when stayed with Heidi and Hugh. We had such a lovely time, excellent location for visiting the sights of north Norfolk and as for their place, you can’t beat the surroundings and the hospitality. We absolutely recommend it!

We stayed with Heidi and Hugh when I was riding the Peddars Way and my husband walking it. This place is fantastic. The accomadation for human and horse is first class. The best place we stayed. But not only is it lovely, the people are great as well. Nothing too much trouble, made us feel so welcome, nothing I can say is high enough praise. Really worth a visit.
