I know that this is one of the Macdonald flag ship hotels in the country, and so my expectations were high. They did however, manage to surpass these expectations. All the touches that make a difference were there. On arrival, there is fresh, iced, lemon water to quench your thirst, or, if you prefer, you can have a malt whisky...

From arrival to departure the staff were all extremely polite and helpful. Our room on the second floor overlooked the golf courses and out to sea - a relaxing outlook. The room itself was well appointed and comfortable with an excellent en-suite - it had been recently upgraded. Afternoon tea taken in the comfortable lounge was pleasant, sitting on high...

We paid £150 for an itison voucher as a birthday treat and initial impressions were really good, the reception staff were busy but helpful and the hotel is stunning, we had a lovely big room overlooking the beach and golf course, Part of the deal was afternoon tea and scone which was nice. The spa and pool area is lovely...

Another fantastic stay at one of our favourite hotels. A warm welcome from the lovely reception staff and then an upgrade to the lovely room 224. What a treat! Would recommend this room if you have a special occasion coming up or just as a treat to yourselves. Wish we had been staying longer. Look forward to our next visit.

Just wanted tea and a scone - you'd have thought we were asking for something exotic. Expressionless waiter silently took our order. Returned some considerable time later with tea, milk, sugar, scones cups etc. but no hot water. We asked for a pot of hot water. Acorn Antiques style, he returned after another long pause with a milk jug full...

Enjoyed a 2 night stay over the weekend with friends. Always a pleasure and the views are simply stunning. Great cocktails, tasty food and good service. Staff are friendly and helpful. Timeless elegance. Only disappointment this time was that there was no smoked haddock available for breakfast.

Was really disappointed visit did not live up to expectations. Had been told by others it was beautiful. It was grubby, full of much older clientele which meant a group of girls didn't want to make too much noise and we had to be very reserved. The hotel is in a state of disrepair, flaky paint, handles missing off wardrobe...

Arrived here at 2.30 pm check-in not permitted till 3pm.Told at 3.10pm room not ready. It was 4.15 pm before we were given key. Staff said we were being given a newly refurbished room.Turned out they meant literally. The room stunk of emulsion and we both had trouble sleeping and we're unable to open window. Room was very nice. We...

I review lots of hotels on trip advisor and am rarely disappointed with the hotels I've booked, taking into account the star rating and price of each hotel. My husband and I booked this hotel for a little Minimoon after our wonderful wedding due to its proximity to Glasgow, it having a spa and it's 4 star rating. We booked...

We , my mum , sister , daughter (age 12) and niece ( age 8) stayed here for one night as a celebration for my sisters 40th and nieces birthday. The hotel is situated in a beautiful location facing a golf course overlooking the sea. The interior is luxurious and very pleasant to be in. Our room which was the...
