A rustic campsite located on a working farm in the heart of East Sussex. Why not take some time out from the rat race to get back to nature and come camping. Relax with friends over a camp fire with a glass of wine and melting marshmallows. Walk the dog to the pub for a pint of local beer. Take the kids for a cycle ride to the coast on the nearby Cuckoo Trail. Or just observe the Sussex countryside at its best and see barn owls and hares and listen to the nightingale on a summer's evening. We offer a simple campsite on our farm, with drinking water, waste disposal and toilet and hot shower facilities. Camp fires are allowed in fire pits, and logs can be provided on request. We welcome well behaved dogs, and children, but guests must be aware that this is still a working farm, with tractors, machinery and livestock in adjacent fields.

We stayed for 3 nights here last week. It was a wonderful location, with great walks and just countryside to gaze at. Ideal for children and families, especially with the livestock in adjacent field. The compostable toilets and showers were great, and we made use of the firepits and wood which were very good value.
Basically, you can pitch anywhere, which is great, and lots of space for the children to run around.
Lizzie who runs the campsite is lovely too, and very helpful. I can't recommend enough!

Just returned from the most wonderful weekend at Heronsdale Manor Campsite with our family of five. A rustic site but with the advantage of hot showers (the compostable toilets were a real highlight!). Small, quiet, picturesque site surrounded by rolling countryside. We only left the site for a walk across the fields to one of the local pubs. Otherwise spent our time enjoying the site. We rented a fire pit and brought fresh eggs from the farm chickens. Would most definitely recommend and will be returning.

We arrived & stayed for a week. The facilities were basic but really excellent. The owners were lovely too. My only area I would recommend that could be improved is that over the weekend, a large group arrived who were very disrespectful towards other campers & the campsite too (throwing plastic litter down the compost toilets). I would strongly encourage the owners to put some firm campsite rules in place just so that everyone feels that both the campsite & fellow campers are all being respectful. It’s probably also worth letting campers know ahead of there are large groups arriving.
I would 100% recommended this campsite & am looking forward to going back again. Thanks!

My husband and I (and our 13 year old border terrier) have just spent a great few days at the campsite.
Although the facilities are basic, which we knew in advance and preferred, we never had to wait for toilets or showers.
We enjoyed walks in the local countryside, some great meals in the nearby pub and a fire-pit and stars in the evening.
The owners are lovely and we look forward to returning in the future.

Lovely back to basics campsite with really friendly owner. Beautifully quiet and not over booked with space for the children to run and play. Great fire pits to hire and wood for sale for marshmallow toasting.

This campsite is a complete gem with far reaching views across the pretty countryside. We have stayed here twice in the weekdays on our own and sat around the campfire watching the stars. We have a huge motorhome which is 9.1 meters long and we easily got in. The toilets and showers are so clean. Lizzy the owner is so friendly and cannot do enough to make sure you have a fantastic stay. Fresh eggs for sale as well.

We spent a really lovely night at this beautiful venue last weekend.

The campsite is a field with a hollow in the middle, which is the site of the communal campfire area. At the very far end of the perimeter of the field from the entrance are the amenities - two showers, two toilets (one chemical and one eco) and a tap for drinking water. There are coppices of trees near the hollow and on the perimeter and in many of them can be found rope swings left by previous campers.

There don't seem to be particular plots. We pitched our tents where we wanted and cooked on portable barbeques brought with us. We kept the campfire going for most of the time we were there using wood we found on the site - ie. which had fallen from the trees. It felt very safe and our kids could run around and enjoy the swings, play hide and seek and all sorts of other games. After dark it got very dark as there are very few man-made light sources in the area, so we were able to enjoy the stars and put the world to rights while gazing at them.

We weren't there for long enough for much exploring, but we noticed really pretty villages and some lovely pubs.

Wow what a perfect camp site grounds are excellent with an abundance of space for the kids to roam free and short walk through a wood to the closest pub which is very welcoming highly recommended the farm manager is a lovely approachable woman and daily delivers of wood for the large fire area every day
local down the road is a Tesco super store if you forget any of the essentials.
On site the added bonus of a compost toilet is a touch of originality and helps when you have young children
All round me and my family will place this site as one of the top 3 that we will visit on a regular basis

If you like ordered pitches, clinical facilities, electric hookups and hate campfires, read no further. Set in an idyllic secluded location, this site has basic facilities suitable for a dozen or two tents to occupy with plenty of play-space. Partially wooded, this is great for free-range kids to explore, but is safe and secure for parents peace of mind. The owners kept a low key presence and were most helpful with additional firewood when needed. Just loved it!
