Amazing stay and we can’t wait to return. I would recommend this site to everyone I could.

Firstly the location is perfect. Situated down the road from wadebridge which has a Tesco superstore, Aldi and a B and M which always comes in useful. There is also a family friendly pub here which serves very nice food if needed. This site is also very close to Padstow and other well known places. We visited wadebridge, Padstow, Bude, Bodmin and found some lovely little villages along the way.
We spent a lot of our time at Constantine bay on the beach and crabbing in the rock pools. I would really recommend this if visiting.

Secondly the facilities on this site are second to none. The pitches are really well laid out, nicely sized and really well kept. The toilet and shower block is well maintained and we never had a problem with it being too busy in there despite the site being full. There is a washing up area, a place to wash wet suits and even a washing line to dry your clothes once washed on the onsite machine! All of the facilities are kept clean and to a high standard. Even the Elsan point was clean! There is a play park hidden away on the site. It has a really good climbing frame, swings and also a large trampoline. The park is maintained to a high standard keeping children that visit safe.

Lastly the hosts couldn’t do more to make our stay memorable! They are helpful and welcoming and we can’t thank them enough. Always around to help when needed and nothing is ever too much trouble. Thank you Sarah and Jo we really appreciate the hard work you clearly put into the site day in and day out.

If you are looking for a great location, facilities and want to be made to feel welcome then this is definitely the site to visit! We can’t wait to come back!

Stayed at The Laurels for our family holiday this year and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

The campsite and on-site facilities are impeccably clean, especially the showers and toilets.

The pitch was a decent size - allowing us to put up a decent size tent, a gazebo and park our large car, leaving a little room still for our little girl to ride her bike.

I was concerned when we arrived that our pitch was right next to the toilet block and dog walking area and worried about noise but everyone was very quiet and respectful.

We only saw the owners once or twice but they were very friendly.

The planting around the pitches allows more privacy than other sites we’ve stayed on which we really appreciated.

The park was well looked after and was great for our 5 year old.

The site is in a great spot too, right between Padstow, Polzeath and other lovely areas of Cornwall. Would highly recommend Camel Creek for a fun family day out (under 7’s I would say), Polzeath Beach (get a pizza from the on beach takeaway) and Strong Adolfo’s for breakfast (£££ but beautiful food).

I would absolutely stay again, thank you so much The Laurels for making our holiday so fab (despite the weather!)

What a perfect little site! We were on our first touring trip in a new camper van and originally booked for one night but on arrival immediately booked a second (thankfully there was availability). Ideal if you’re looking for a nice quiet site in a great location to explore some of Cornwall and Devon from. The site is kept immaculate and all the hedging and plants separating the pitches give a great homely feel and make it very picturesque. The facilities were always clean and well kept with enough for the size of the site. Communication was always prompt, very polite and helpful. Unfortunately we didn’t get to meet Jo or Rachel to thank them in person but look forward to staying again and hopefully meeting them then.

The Laurels is a small campsite between Wadebridge and Padstow in Cornwall, adjacent to the A39, so bring some ear plugs for the road noise. It has approx. 30 pitches, 50/50 grass / gravel. The pitches are smaller than most campsites, but separated by mature hedges, which give an element of privacy. We didn't put up our awning, as in doing so we would have needed to place our ropes onto adjacent pitches.
There is a small toilet/shower block, with 2 showers, 3 toilets and 3 basins for male / female guests. The showers are similar to most campsites, with a button for 5 seconds of water at an indetermined temperature; these seem to spray in all directions except onto yourself, and cover everything in water. There are 2 very small hooks in the showers, so I suggest you bring a bag to place your clothes and towel in to stop it getting wet. In the gents there is a small useless step, which I couldn't understand its purpose.
There is a very small dog exercise area, which unfortunately isn't very well constructed as my 10 month old puppy escaped under the fence. So too small for big dogs, and not suited to small / medium dogs. Very few lights, so bring a torch.
Good communication via email and text, in fact we didn't see any wardens / owners during our stay?
My biggest complaint was the response to a request to change our booking to 1 day later. The admin fee for this was as much as booking an additional night (?), and it was suggested I should book direct rather than via a third party. None of this made sense to me, and in the end we just stayed a night less rather than pay the fee.
There are lots of campsites in this area, and we will probably go elsewhere than return.

Wayne, Wayne, Wayne...its you again! This is the 3rd copied and pasted review from this guest (tripadvisor handle very apt)! Guest did not pay for a dog to stay and the dog area is not designed for exercise just a dedicated place for people to take their dogs to do their business rather than all over the campsite. Most dogs get spoilt rotten from going to one or all 12 of the fantastic dog friendly beaches we have within 10 miles of our site. Guest booked via Pitchup and was agitated over the £25 charge to change dates of his holiday. This is a standard charge written on the booking page and in the terms and conditions for ANY date changes for holidays booked on 3rd party websites as they take a 15% commission on all bookings which is huge for a small family business such as ourselves. Always book direct as we give a 7 day grace period for date changes no charge. Unfortunately nothing was going to change this guests annoyance.

We visited this site for the first time for the royal conrwall show. What a gem! A 15 minute walk to the show through the stunning countryside, the site was pristine, well manicured pitches, great facilities, friendly staff and simple and easy to access. We took a caravan, the pitch was easy to get into, all hook ups worked perfectly, there is onside freezers, washing and laundry facilities. We will definitely be back!

I had the most marvelous family holiday here. The facilities are super clean, and the hedges between the pitches give a lovely sense of privacy. My father particularly enjoyed the glamping bell tent. The location is a short drive to the local beaches too. The staff were personable, knowledgeable about the local area and polite, always quick with assistance and a smile. We barbecued on the fire pit that we hired at an inexpensive price from the site, and watched the beautiful Cornish sunset together around the fire as a family, which I shan't forget for a long time. I would recommend, and we would certainly stay again. Thanks so much to Jo and the team.

Had a fantastic week based here at The Laurels. The site is beautifully kept, the pitches are a great size ( we have a long twin axle caravan) plenty of room for our canopy or an awning. Jo and Sarah are really helpful, they made us feel so welcome and nothing was too much trouble. The showers and facilities are kept very clean and we always had plenty of hot water. There are play areas for kids and even an enclosed area for furry friends to stretch their legs offlead. Great base to travel from as it's near the main arterial roads A30 and A39. Thoroughly recommended if you're looking to pitch up with a tent, caravan or a camper van/motor home x thanks Jo and Sarah, we will certainly be back x

This was my second visit to The Laurels and what a great place it is to stay at 😊 The site is kept so clean and tidy by Jo and Sarah, there are really clean and lovely showers with good water pressure and the perfect temperature of water as well as a washing up station and a place to dunk wet suits and if like me you don't take a washing line with you one is provided along with pegs 👍 The dog exercise area is secure and and well maintained where dogs can run about while their owners can sit and have a chat or read or just watch the antics! The layout of the site is great with lovely hedges, some of which have a fabulous perfume, between the pitches. There is no delay on arrival as your name and the number of your pitch is written up on the arrivals board so it's a case of just driving straight to the pitch and getting set up. Jo and Sarah are very helpful, nothing is too much trouble. I've already booked my next visit and can't wait to go back. Thank you girls

The staff are really friendly and the facility’s are really good, the grounds are kept really neat and tidy but there are some bad points

The dog walking field is tiny
Camping is cramped (2 tents in a small space
Site is next to a busy main road
The showers were warm enough

Finally a personal bug bare of mine, A sign in the shower asking me to Squeegee and mop the floor after I’ve finished is a bit of a joke, this site is on the pricy side about £30 with no electric for one night and now you want me to help clean up, I’m on holiday I don’t need a job thanks 🙄

Hi Lee, Firstly thank you for your good points - staff, facilities and neat and tidy grounds. Let me address the other issues - 1. Absolutely nowhere online or otherwise do we advertise as having a dog walking field - it is advertised as a small area on the site to let your dog off lead to do their business. 2.We only allow one unit (tent/caravan/campervan/motorhome per pitch so if you brought 2 tents then yes it would be cramped. 3.Yes we are located on a main road - not a fact we can hide and mentioned in most reviews even amazing ones. 4. The main showers are set to 39 degrees which is very comfortable for most people but we do have an electric shower which you can control the temperature to be as hot or cold as you like 5. Absolutely ridiculous complaint - I am sure you appreciated walking into a clean shower - we do not ask guests to clean the showers merely to leave them as they would like to find them by using the squeegee or mop to flush any dirt down the drain. This is as a courtesy to the next guest. You not being prepared to do this highlights that you are not the right sort of guest for our clean site. You might be better suited to an all inclusive hotel in Benidorm. Best Wishes

This is by far the cleanest and friendliest campsite I have ever stayed on. Nothing was too much trouble for the lovely Jo and Sarah and they never seemed to stop working, whether it was cleaning the ablutions, cutting the grass, advice on some great local running routes for my wife, or locking up the play area at bang on 9 every evening.
Our furry little friend also took advantage of the purposely provided exercise area which was fenced off from the rest of the park meaning that some lead free time could also be had by him onsite too.
The location of this little gem is also very impressive with some amazing local “dog-friendly” beaches just a few short miles away.
To put this all into perspective, just 24hrs after our 12hr nightmare journey home, we have booked it again for next year as it was soooooo worth it.

Sorry for delay in answering. There isn't a shop on site. The Quarryman Pub is about 20-30 min walk. Nearest shop is Tesco's which is on the road to Wadebridge.

Is the Camel trail accessable from the site by foot
Answer from Susan L
Dorset, United Kingdom18 contributions6 helpful votes
Yes you could walk to the Quarryman pub, then carry on down a very big hill, at the bottom you will meet the trail just below an old brick bridge. You can either walk to Padstow, or Wadebridge, but its quite a distance & you may want to catch the bus back. We had Electric bikes, but save the energy for coming back up the very long steep hill!!
