Detailed Reviews
Upon arriving at the laurels, we were greeted straight away by a member of staff who was friendly and welcoming. When we found our pitch we loved it! Made it feel like you were in your private area, whilst still feeling spacious. The pitches are well kept and look lovely. A further staff member came and again was friendly and welcoming. The play area for kids was great- especially the trampoline. The toilet area had a great system for Covid and it felt very well organised. It was a shame that people often did not follow the traffic light system but that’s not the campsites fault. Nice little area for the dogs to walk around , however it’s not large and you do need to drive to walk a sufficient walk!!
Only issue that we faced was with the road. It is very noisy and cars seem to drive along it continuously. It did keep us up on the first night however as other reviews said you do honestly get used to it! And this slight issue doesn’t impact on the lovely stay that we had. We were all very happy and felt like we were at home whilst staying at the laurels.
Thank you for a lovely stay. We hope to come back soon. p.s... the fire pits are amazing!! We were glad to have one on the last two nights! Definitely get one if you have the chance.

It was a pleasure to have you and your family stay with us! We are so pleased you found us friendly and welcoming and enjoyed the privacy the hedges gave around your pitch. We would love to pick the site up and move it back a few fields but we are where we are - glad it didnt disturb you too much. Thankyou for hiring the fire pit - definately saves the hassle of squeezing something else into the car and adds to the camping ambiance! We look forward to welcoming you back! Best Wishes Sarah, Jo, Kev and Anita

This campsite was really nice, the pitches are small and it is near a busy road but that did not affect us at all, the access to the site was really easy from the main road without any narrow lanes, which many campsites in this area have issues with. The only slightly confusing thing on arrival was the automated email said we were on pitch 2 and to drive into the cottages car park, when we arrived the board said we were on a different pitch which was no issue at all but the staff might want to amend the automated email. The warden was really helpful as were the rest of the staff, the showers are really powerful and the toilet block was immaculate. There is a really handy bus stop at the entrance of the campsite to take you to Padstow or Wadebridge, download the 'Bus Checker' app to easily track the busses. The Padstow stop is the trimmed edge of grass opposite the entrance to the site. I would definitely recommend this site, we had a really relaxed stay and there is a great play area for kids. We will be back!!!

Thankyou so much! We are really pleased you enjoyed your stay and found getting out and about on the buses easy and convenient. Great to hear that you appreciated the cleanliness of the toilet block. The pre arrival email sent to everyone detailed "if on arrival you are allocated pitch 26" that access is via the cottage car park. We do not allocate pitch numbers until the day when you pull on site and see your name and number on the arrival board. We have removed this now due to confusion as it wasn't just yourselves that mis read this! Hope to welcome you back again! Best Wishes Sarah and Jo

The Laurels is a small campsite between Wadebridge and Padstow in Cornwall, adjacent to the A39, so bring some ear plugs for the road noise. It has approx. 30 pitches, 50/50 grass / gravel. The pitches are smaller than most campsites, but separated by mature hedges, which give an element of privacy. We didn't put up our awning, as in doing so we would have needed to place our ropes onto adjacent pitches.
There is a small toilet/shower block, with 2 showers, 3 toilets and 3 basins for male / female guests. The showers are similar to most campsites, with a button for 5 seconds of water at an indetermined temperature; these seem to spray in all directions except onto yourself, and cover everything in water. There are 2 very small hooks in the showers, so I suggest you bring a bag to place your clothes and towel in to stop it getting wet. In the gents there is a small useless step, which I couldn't understand its purpose.
There is a very small dog exercise area, which unfortunately isn't very well constructed as my 10 month old puppy escaped under the fence. So too small for big dogs, and not suited to small / medium dogs. Very few lights, so bring a torch.
Good communication via email and text, in fact we didn't see any wardens / owners during our stay?
My biggest complaint was the response to a request to change our booking to 1 day later. The admin fee for this was as much as booking an additional night (?), and it was suggested I should book direct rather than via a third party. None of this made sense to me, and in the end we just stayed a night less rather than pay the fee.
There are lots of campsites in this area, and we will probably go elsewhere than return.

Wayne, Wayne, Wayne...its you again! This is the 3rd copied and pasted review from this guest (tripadvisor handle very apt)! Guest did not pay for a dog to stay and the dog area is not designed for exercise just a dedicated place for people to take their dogs to do their business rather than all over the campsite. Most dogs get spoilt rotten from going to one or all 12 of the fantastic dog friendly beaches we have within 10 miles of our site. Guest booked via Pitchup and was agitated over the £25 charge to change dates of his holiday. This is a standard charge written on the booking page and in the terms and conditions for ANY date changes for holidays booked on 3rd party websites as they take a 15% commission on all bookings which is huge for a small family business such as ourselves. Always book direct as we give a 7 day grace period for date changes no charge. Unfortunately nothing was going to change this guests annoyance.

My husband and I have just returned from another visit to The Laurels in our motorhome and enjoyed every minute of it again. Before our visit I was in quite regular contact with Jo who couldn't have been more helpful and we were given the pitch I had requested. We arrived as the park opened and were warmly greeted by staff. The park looked absolutely beautiful, it was obvious everyone had worked really hard whilst closed to get everything looking in tip top condition. Well done, it is much appreciated. We didn't use the facilities as we had our own and were happy to leave the showers and toilets for those who needed them. I did notice that there were restrictions of course and everyone seemed to be doing their best to adhere to them. Wouldn't hesitate to visit The Laurels again and recommend the park, owners and staff quite happily.

We stayed at The Laurels a week after government restrictions enabled us to. It was a last minute booking when the restrictions were lifted. The staff dealt with the new procedures extremely well with a very high cleaning routine. Unfortunately not all site members abided to these rules, eg number of people allowed in the toilet block at one time.
We used the campsite as our base as we wanted to explore the local areas. This was perfect location for Wadebridge, Padstow, Port Issac, Rock and Polzeath, plus many more.
This was a huge pro about the site.
I do have to mention the cons which is completely a personal opinion. The site allows fire pits, which is great for a large open space. The Laurels having close and intimate pitches, for those who do not wish to stink and choke on fire smoke sadly do not have the choice.
We still enjoyed our time!

We had a great weeks camping at Laurels just South of Wadebridge.
We arrived on Saturday after 13:00 as requested to make sure the pitch was clear and ready. The campsite is small and friendly with all the facilities you would expect for tents, caravans and motor homes.
The staff were always on hand making sure we were well looked after and that the site rules were adhered to without being over baring.
It was a great stay and thoroughly enjoyable.

This is my second stay at The Laurels and had great experience both times. Jo and Sarah are so friendly and so accommodating. The pitches are great sizes! We have a T6 Campervan and a drive away awning and had no problem with room, we had a grass pitch and had no problems with the ground being wet or muddy. The shower and toilet facilities are great and kept really clean, and are checked daily, the 3 pot washing facitiles are helpful as there was no queue to clean up and the sinks were clean and always tidy.
The location is easy accessible and the traffic noise is non-existent after 7pm, even throughout the day its just white noise in the background.
Our last year stay we had the kids play park behind us, but was non obtrusive, the kids were normally in bed for 8/9pm but it was great to hear them having a lovely holiday and playing with new friends. This year we were on the opposite side of the site, but still enjoyed it! Already booked to return next year!

Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou Olivia! We are so pleased you enjoyed your 2nd stay just as much as the first time and have had the experience of being in 2 different areas of the site to give some personal feedback regarding road noise and pitch size. We are so glad you found all the facilities very clean and our location great for easy access and exploring much of the area. We look forward to welcoming you both back for a 3rd time! I can only say good things about the Laurels, well-spaced out pitches, both sides having privacy hedging, lots of space. Just the right size dog exercising area for early mornings and late nights. So clean and welcoming. Just the right location for driving to some beautiful cornish towns and beaches, however, there is a bus stop near if you prefer. I always have a great nights sleep while at the Laurels. Owners are great, so friendly and eager to help. We will return as often as we can.

We spent a week at the Laurels near Wadebridge last week, lots of rain but we were happy with the site it was very neat and tidy and the showers and toilets were spotless.
They could do with a few more lights along the gravel paths as it is difficult to see your way to the toilet block at night without a torch, there are a few lights but 2 of them were out of action.
The only downside to the site was the traffic noise form the adjacent road into Wadebridge it is busy all day and doesn't ease of much at night.

This is a superb site with all the facilities you could want while there. The grounds and pitches are really well kept but the best part was the beautifully clipped hedges strategically placed around each pitch allowing visibility yet privacy. A really good experience and will be going back for sure. Friendly staff and really well thought out covid secure.

Sorry for delay in answering. There isn't a shop on site. The Quarryman Pub is about 20-30 min walk.
Nearest shop is Tesco's which is on the road to Wadebridge.
Yes you could walk to the Quarryman pub, then carry on down a very big hill, at the bottom you will meet the trail just below an old brick bridge. You can either walk to Padstow, or Wadebridge, but its quite a distance & you may want to catch the bus back. We had Electric bikes, but save the energy for coming back up the very long steep hill!!
