This was our first time to the bistro although we have been to the Seafood Restaurant several times.

The COVID arrangements were excellent and clearly explained and we felt very safe.

We chose from the fixed price menu which had beautiful choices and offers fantastic value for money. We were surprised and delighted that the quality was equally as good as the main restaurant.

The meal was delicious, the Hake a la Caralina was cooked superbly and full of flavour. The pavlova was the best dessert I have ever tasted (and I have tasted a few!).

All in all well worth a visit. More relaxed than the main restaurant but equally as high quality and superb value.

Wow, just wow. From the welcome coffees on arrival to the complimentary coffees two hours after we checked out, nothing was too much trouble. The room we had was incredible, a massive bed, beautifully decorated, a roll top bath & lovely selection of tea/coffee plus the mini bar. We also stayed with our dog who had a sumptuous welcome pack, and a friendly dog sitter on the Saturday night. We ate in the bistro on Friday and the seafood restaurant on Saturday, the food was of the highest quality and the all the staff were friendly and attentive, welcoming and informative. Faultless, thanks to you all, a great team.

Dinner for a birthday celebration. Food was amazing and incredibly fresh! When you feel like you're tasting the sea! Scallops were incredible and the sticky toffee pudding! The service However was a step beyond. It's like the attentiveness and care of a Michelin star London restaurant with the friendliness of the country. They went beyond to make it a special and memorable evening and certainly the staff added as much value as the food itself (which was already amazing). Special thanks to our duo who made us feel so welcome and made sure we got home safe after almost getting stranded! Honestly eating in some of London's best restaurants this was beyond comparable! Food delicious and service wonderful! Rick.. give them a raise!

Where to start. After being treated horribly by the front desk lady we got in our table which was in a room that was a sauna (considering it was 16 degrees outside) then we got a warm wine, over cooked beef and salty (well maybe the entire ocean) in our fries. But the best is the waiter that just said don’t you worry all the time.. as if we were apologizing.... never again.

They need to change and be accountable of terrible food and service. Paying for a brand does work at times of online reviews mr Rick Stein - go back there to oversea it.

Family 50th birthday celebration -
Positives, of which there were some, most of the starters were delicious, a very limited menu hence sticking to the starter menus to maintain our appetite for seafood. Prawns were overcooked, fish soup delicious but forgot the croutons. Ribeye steak approved by our 12 year old. Set menu was well executed, but portions were small for our teenage son, however parents ordered 8 starters which accommodated the 17 year olds appetite. Staff were friendly albeit overly apprehensive with the COVID regulations - champagne was not opened or poured . Swapping of deserts from a la carte to Main was not allowed after a spend of £300 plus which was extremely disappointing and when reservation confirmed in person, was told dogs were not allowed, only to find 2 dogs in the main restaurant.

Overall, food was good, but wouldn’t rush back.

We stayed at st petrocs hotel for 2 nights and I would only rate the service as a maximum 3 star. We ate at rick steins sea food restaurant and it was amazing and the service impeccable. However I could not say the same about st petrocs. 20 minute wait for a drink in Ruby’s bar due to only one staff member. Upon arrival no one showed us where to go for breakfast or any of the hotel amenities. At breakfast the next morning we ordered a tea and coffee but only a coffee was served. The breakfast room walls were covered with grease and when the poached eggs arrived they tasted of vinegar and were stone cold. This hotel charges high end rate but unfortunately the service and quality is at best mediocre and I could not recommend it. Rick Stein should pay a visit as his reputation is reliant on the brand. A very disappointing stay which spoilt a special occasion.

We booked this place as we were unable to get a booking at the main Rick Stein restaurant (even two months back). After looking forward to eating some Cornish Lobster, it was disappointing to find it was unavailable. They were also short of Sour dough bread. Bizarre. they were kind enough to pop down to their bakery to get some.
The kids decided to have Steak 10oz and 14oz, which they both enjoyed. My wife and I had the Sea Bass and Hake. We all enjoyed the meal and also the Sticky Toffee Pudding. Apparently their desserts are mass produced in a central
Kitchen somewhere and shipped to their restaurants, which is disappointing for the price you are paying at a bistro.
The table service was nice, but here are the some negative points. Toilets were disgusting and the gentleman manager seemed disinterested in the feedback and seemed to be just killing time at the front desk.
Mr Rick Stein -Your my favourite chef, but you need to shake up your management there as its going to give you a bad name.

Yours a bit disappointed.

We had originally booked a 2 night hotel, breakfast and dinner package staying at The Seafood Restaurant. We then decided to change to 3 nights, but only the St Petroc's was available - so we took that, with dinner at their restaurant one night. Although we thoroughly enjoyed some aspects of our stay, they were overshadowed by one extreme issue.
We booked the Comfy room, but there was no mention of any issues for the room, which faced the inner courtyard/garden. We were happy with this room, even though it was very small, until we went to bed the first night. That is when we realised this room is directly above the kitchen and it's extract fan. It was like having a jet engine outside your room until approx 23:30. We also heard almost every word the kitchen staff said - it was like they were having a party. We were then wide awake from approx 06:30 when the kitchen noises returned. What should have been a luxurious restful stay was completely destroyed. We asked if they could change rooms the next morning but unfortunately they were totally full. We had to endure this noise for all 3 nights of the stay.
However, the breakfasts were awesome, as was the dinner we had one night. The staff were as nice as they possibly could be, knowing our room and sleep situation.
So, if you are staying at St Petroc's, make certain you are not in this room - I think it's called the St Issey.

We have stayed here a couple of times before and this time we stayed for two nights in October. Everything was fine and as expected but what on earth has happened in the bistro ? Breakfasts were always of high quality and a great way to start the day; not now. The staff were disinterested and the service was slow. The delivery of food and beverages was disjointed and the quality of the ingredients was sub standard; think cheap supermarket value range. A real disappointment. I’m sure we will stay again and I’m confident that brand Stein will sort this out. The Seafood Restaurant was excellent as always.

I have eaten at Rick Steins seafood restaurant in Padstow which is beautiful so thought after lockdown we would visit St Petrocs outside courtyard area for a family meal. I booked in advance and let them
Know so was gluten free with a celery allergy.
The service was less than average. The member of staff who served me did not know what I could eat, only about a third of the menu?
After 10 minutes the waitress offered to cook the Hake without the sauce which was average, my daughters risotto was good but not amazing. The Lobster was delicious. The Chocolate Pave was also delicious but the cheese and biscuits lacking. There is only one patio heater so two of us were warm and two were cold and we were wrapped up with coats on.
They also auto add a 12.5% service charge which if you want removed you have to ask. The service I received was not worth the additional £25 they were charging.
Overpriced average food in an average location. Disappointing. If I was Rick Stein I would sort this as it is not a great advertisement for his brand.
