What a lovely little hotel. Situated just outside Padstow in Little Petherick, this gorgeous place is family- run and it is evident that this is a labour of love. You really feel like the staff care about you. The family cannot do enough for you. Fully COVID compliant but not making a song and dance about it. The rooms are all different and although our room wasn’t the most modern the room was priced accordingly. Some of the other rooms were larger and had nicer decor but it was the staff and the family that made our stay so lovely. The rooms are very clean and have everything you could need although they may not provide towels to adhere to guidelines so it might be worth checking as things do change. The gardens and stream and the mill makes this a charming location. There are hanging chairs and plenty of outside seating. The gardens are so pretty and relaxing and with the sound of the river it is a lovely place to sit for an early evening drink. The Old Mill is located on quite a busy road but that makes it easy to find and it is relatively quiet at night. There is ample parking across the road which is free and the owners have a donation pot where you can put a couple of pounds for parking which goes to a charity. They ask that you fill in your breakfast order the night before and the breakfast included fresh fruit, yoghurt and cereal followed by a lovely range of hot breakfast options including full English, omelettes etc. Again, nothing was too much trouble and the staff were happy to chat and offer advice about places to visit on our days out. We visited the restaurant for dinner and the food was utterly delicious. We were given complementary bread baked by the chef which was the most delicious bread I have ever eaten. I will do a separate review for the restaurant but suffice to say the food was beautifully cooked and the chef came out to see us which was just so nice. A lovely, lovely place in a great location to explore this beautiful area.
PS I have no idea what the negative reviews were all about. We had a lovely experience here.

Before I wrote this review I thought “this will take a while” but then I realised that it will only take 50% than a full review as there are absolutely no negatives only positives.
Firstly, when we arrived, as advised the parking is simple, directly opposite and how quaint there is a post box in the car park.
Check in was courteous, quick and seamless, our bags were taken upstairs for us as I have a disability.
This beautiful building in its idyllic location by a tidal tributary of the River Camel is a tranquil Cornish secret. The river is so clean and pure we spotted eels feeding.
If your into goldfinches, grey wagtails, pipits and otters, foxes and bats at night then this is the place for you.
Let’s get to the nitty gritty, The Old Mill House is owned and operated by the family Unit of Ashley, Adam and Debbie who run the business like a 5* B&B/Bistro. Note the Bistro is closed on Sunday & Monday - like many other establishments.
Inside the building is spotless and the attention to detail in the guest bedrooms is second to none. I’m old and travel a lot so when I take the time to post a review I mean it.
Now the food bit: I have never been treated to superb gastronomic delights on this level before. Almost every ingredient is sourced locally within Cornwall.
Team Ashley/Adam& Debbie enhance the eating experience with their calm and pleasant demeanour, absolutely superb. Even breakfast is a delight, try Ashley’s Omelette’s for breakfast and I guarantee that you will be spoilt forever.
We were lucky and had good weather so made use of the gorgeous landscaped gardens which run the length of the river, very pretty and peaceful.
In a nutshell don’t miss out, put The Old Mill House on your personal bucket list.
You will not be disappointed.

Making the most of being able to still travel in the UK we booked into here for 4 nights in mid-October to enjoy a few days cycling, walking and driving around this beautiful part of the country. The hotel was almost perfect and we would recommend it to anyone. The owners were super welcoming and helpful, gladly accommodating outside storage for our bikes. After a pleasant welcome we were showed to our room and they explained the Covid rules that they diligently applied throughout. Room was spacious and the bed comfortable. Breakfast was a treat and the honesty bar (very well stocked) a welcome feature when going out remained so difficult at that particular time. The only thing we would have liked was a slightly better shower as electric ones are seldom the best, but for a short stay that is a minor quibble. Thank you for your hospitality and good luck, you deserve it!

My husband and I have just returned from a three night stay at the Old Mill House, we just wished we’d booked for longer instead of going East. A beautiful location for exploring Cornwall.

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome; Debbie and Ashley are amazing hosts and the precautions, cleanliness and guidance in place to comply with the current situations made us feel relaxed and comfortable. A wonderful stay and we can’t wait to return.

If you book into the bistro for dinner at the time of reservation, you will not be disappointed. The food is amazing, fresh produce from local suppliers cooked by a very talented chef.

Thank you all for a wonderful mini break

We stayed for 3 nights at the end of November and are moved to write a report to let others know how nice this B&B is. On arrival we were greeted warmly by Debbie who was putting up (very tasteful) Christmas decorations. We were shown to Flour room which was attractively decorated and had a tv and tea/coffee etc and biscuits. There were big white fluffy towels and the shower room was spotless. The bed was very comfortable and we both slept well. The breakfasts, which you order the evening before, were amazing! Each morning there was an attractively arranged bowl of fruit salad with yogurts to go with it if desired. My husband had something different each day for his cooked breakfast: full Cornish (veggie version), Eggs Royale and Eggs Florentine. I requested croissants. There was a good selection of cereals on the dresser and plenty of toast with jam, marmalade and honey. We requested oat milk which was readily supplied. Debbie's son runs the Bistro in the evenings and we had one of our meals there. Again we would highly recommend it. All the family were very friendly and happy to advise on the area etc. Just across the road in front of the building is the start of a 2 mile walk into Padstow along the Camel estuary. We did this one day and got the bus back and were dropped just outside the Old Mill. Buses run hourly.
We will definitely return!

My partner and I stayed for three nights over the weekend as a small getaway for my partner's birthday and we were both thoroughly impressed! The property and gardens are incredibly beautiful and peaceful, the bedrooms and all the property interior/decor have a lovely rustic feel totally in keeping with the property and its age.

The location is just a couple miles from Padstow which you can walk to, easily drive to, or even catch the bus right outside the property which we did as we wanted to have a few drinks so this was really convenient.

We stayed in The Wheel Room and we were very happy with it, lovely big comfy bed, clean room and bathroom, and all the complimentary items you would expect to be there were there.

Breakfast was delicious each morning, we didn't have a chance to eat in the Bistro in the evening but I'm sure we'll be back in the future to try it!

We chatted with the owners a fair bit and they are both lovely people, down to earth and super friendly. They couldn't have been more accommodating!

All in all I'm sure we'll be back at some point, hopefully next time we'll aim for some better weather to enjoy the gardens more and sit next to the creek which runs next to it! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to anyone!

Such a warm welcome nothing seemed to much of a bother. Of course Covid has not helped, although the house was spotless and all hygiene facilities were in place. We were shown to a super room overlooking the river again with every thing you would hope for, comfortable clean bed, tea and TV. Late afternoon a glass of wine by the river in a garden full of pleasant surprises. Evening meal second to none and I have been around a long time I think the menu must surely have been pick just for me. Presented beautifully and tasted out of this world. All the staff were so attentive you would think that my wife and I were the only ones there. Nothing but nothing was to much trouble. Trust me this place is worth a visit. As a foot note I must say I don't write reviews broke the rule this time as we had such a fantastic time and welcome.

A superb stay at this gorgeous hotel in the pretty village of Little Petherick just outside Padstow. The hosts are professional but lend such a relaxed and friendly atmosphere to the place. The breakfasts were the best we've had anywhere and can highly recommend the porridge made by the lady owner (with Scottish ancestry). The room was nicely furnished and the shower was lovely and hot. The evening meal we had in the Bistro was excellent and rivalled a Rick Stein venue at almost half the price. The garden overlooking the river was a lovely space to sit out in with a gin and tonic or beer. Can highly recommend for a relaxing stay in a location so convenient for all North Cornwall has to offer.

We booked 5 nights at this B&B as a getaway after lock down and we had a fantastic stay. The owners have made the place covid safe and all precautions are taken. We had a king-size room which had all the expected facilities and was really comfortable. The old mill is in a great location to visit all the well known tourist spots.. Padstow, port Isaac, Newquay etc. We booked a table in the on site bistro for our last night and wished we had eaten there on previous nights! The food was amazing.... Really fresh and good value. The owners were so friendly and welcoming, we will definitely be back

A really lovely place to stay as everyone was so very friendly and welcoming. Our room was really well appointed (The Flour Store) and we had everything we needed, especially a comfy bed!

Our evening meal at the Bistro was delicious and beautifully cooked, fresh seafood including Mackerel, Monkfish, Hake and Sea Bass and a lovely Sauvignon Blanc wine!

We took a bus into Padstow one morning for a whole day and later returned to the bistro by taxi in the evening for a night cap! Breakfast was a lovely selection and very enjoyable.

The staff made our time there so relaxing and enjoyable, thank you!
