Never having visited Burgh Island I thought a road trip and overnight stay might be fun. I chose The George Inn after seeing good reviews elsewhere, and was not disappointed. The room was smart and spotless with interesting decor and the shower room very adequate. The pub itself was traditional with a range of good local beers and my evening meal and the following morning's cooked breakfast both delicious. The pub is listed as being in Totnes, but in reality it is in a charming small village deep in the countryside. Good value and nothing to criticise really - recommended.

We have eaten here twice in the last week whilst holidaying in Dartmouth. My expectations were low when we trundled round the single track Devon lanes to approach the pub. I was blown away on arrival. Super food, staff knowledgable and friendly and the views from the beer garden are stunning. I would without hesitation recommend this pub to friends and family.

A rare GEM of a place that gets all the essential elements spot on: location: a little off the beaten track; staff: actually gave a sh*t; thanks all. Food: carefully curated, freshly prepared and even fondant potatoes on the menu (rare). REALLY GOOD scallops, properly done etc Great ambience borne of quirky, cool decor with a Hackney twist. All in all, everything you would want from a country pub.

My husband and I booked in for 2 nights here so we could visit our friends that were staying in their caravan a mile away. We had a warm welcome and was shown to our room. Was very comfortable and had everything that we needed. We booked a table in the restaurant with our 3 friends joining us for a meal. The service and food was excellent. We went for breakfast which was very nice. The second morning we went for breakfast, my husband had another fried breakfast but I couldn't make my mine up so the lovely lady recommended smashed avocado with poached egg on toast. It was excellent. We would highly recommend stay here. Thankyou to all the staff for our lovely stay.
