5 Star accommodation in the peace and tranquility of the Blackdown Hills, and a fantastic view to boot! Hosts always so friendly and helpful but leave you to enjoy the peace that this beautiful bolt hole offers. I have booked Honeysuckle Cottage again for October.

We have just returned from Odle Farm, near Honiton. We stayed 6 nights in Willow Cottage with our 15 month old puppy. Willow Cottage did not disappoint and was everything we expected. On arrival we were met by the owners… who were friendly and very welcoming. The cottage was very clean and very well maintained. The kitchen was equipped with a small dish washer and washing machine. There was washing up kit available to use, if you needed to. We had brought our own. It had all the necessary utensils and crockery you would need. I didn’t think if anything it didn’t have. The lounge was comfortable with a small dining area. Perfect for dining in. A lovely touch was a vase of flowers and some local biscuits, the usual tea, coffee and sugar; and milk in the fridge. Hand soap in both bathrooms. There was a downstairs loo which was a pleasant surprise. The bedroom was small but adequate for sleeping in. The bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in. Really amazing. It was so lovely. Due to expected heat wave, I had brought a top sheet to use instead of having the duvet… which was very much needed as it was so hot… and the bed linen was lovely and crisp and perfectly ironed! Well impressed! 😀 Great bathroom with shower over the bath. Again a pleasant surprise to have a bath tub too. There are bathrobes to use if you need to. Beautiful fluffy towels. There was a perfect little storage room for hanging clothes in and storing suitcases/bags etc and side drawers in the bedroom for other clothing items. Then the hot tub… and the views. Just a lovely extra to sit in with a G&T/glass of wine and watch the world go by… with the occasional neighing horse in the distance. Just a perfect find and location to explore Devon. I note others have mentioned the remoteness… it was a bit of a drive to get to the beach in Lyme Regis but not that far… 12.5 miles, I think. The road to the cottage is narrow but only once did we meet a tractor coming the other way. With some negotiation he moved up onto the side of the road… no drama! On other country roads we never met anyone else coming the other way… and we were out about a lot. I loved the Devon people who were so friendly… and very dog friendly. We could take our puppy into every shop… no problem at all. I am certain if you book any of the cottages at Odle Farm it will be in for a treat. Enjoy.

We have stayed a number of times over the last few years and it never disappoints! Nothing like sitting in a hot tub looking out over The Otter Valley. Just beautiful. Stayed in Willow, which is excellent. Everything you need in a holiday cottage. The hosts are warm and friendly and there to help if needed. Thank you Karen and Jeanette for another lovely break in Devon.

Absolutely wonderful weekend at Olde Farm with the family. Wisteria cottage was just what we were looking for our time away. The cottage was spotlessly clean, the beds were comfy and we had everything we needed. We had beautiful weather whilst there, so enjoyed sitting out on the patio for breakfast every morning. The hot tub being across the courtyard wasn't a problem, because it has a shower, changing facilities and robes available. It also feels very private and has a great view. The games room was so much fun and a great addition, we had many table tennis and air hockey challenges! The pool table has a charge, so sadly we couldn't use it as none of us had any change. The views are amazing and we enjoyed a 40 minute walk to the Somerset Arms for lunch, which I would also recommend. Other family members of ours have already booked and are going shortly because of the brilliant time we had. Karen was brilliant and so helpful too.

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at Odle Farm, it is really appreciated. I am so glad you enjoyed your family weekend and made the most of the facilities here. It's a shame that you didn't get to use the pool table, we could have given you some change if we had known....next time x Thank you for recommending us to other members of your family, I hope they enjoy staying here as much as you did. Thanks again and hopefully we'll see you again sometime. Karen x

Odle Farm is a charming holiday retreat set in the Blackdown Hills in East Devon. We've just come back from our forth visit in the last eighteen months it has been our covid retreat. It comprises of four holiday lettings of which we have stayed in two Honeysuckle and Willow cottages. If you need a chilled out no stress holiday this is the place to come. Panoramic views from your accommodation, delightful walks long and short, Netflix to binge your boxsets, hottub to stargaze at night and a fully equipped games room. The accommodation is superb everything catered for thanks to Karen, her mum and the rest of her lovely family. The highly recommended Sidmouth Arms is about a twenty five minute walk away and the old fashioned Honiton high street a ten minute drive. We have certainly fallen in love with this place so highly recommended you won't be disappointed. Many Thanks Karen

Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences at Odle Farm, it is always lovely to see guests enjoying the local area and really relaxing during their stay. The past two years of Covid have made us appreciate even more where we live, and it is so lovely to be able to share that with others and know that it has given you your retreat too. Many thanks for your review and we look forward to seeing you again. Best wishes, Karen and family.

This was a great holiday cottage, the views over the otter valley were awesome. The cottage was perfect for the two of us, everything was catered for. The bedroom was v comfortable, the bed was the same. The bathroom wasn't huge, I am 6 ft and just fit in the shower. Good shower though. Kitchen had everything we needed and we cooked a few times. Description said there was a BBQ but none was present. Hot tub was fun. Only one word of warning the last mile stretch of the approach road is extremely narrow, it needs to be taken carefully. Not much traffic though so we had no problems.

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at Odle Farm. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay and glad that you found the bed comfortable as we have only just replaced the mattress so it's nice to get feedback. I'm sorry you missed the BBQ, we keep them in the garage to avoid them rusting so if you had only mentioned it we could have provided you with one. Our lane is very narrow but luckily as it isn't a through road to anywhere it isn't busy, thank you for letting others know and putting their minds at rest. It also means we are nice and quite, with no traffic passing as we are at the end of the lane. 😍

As it’s the pandemic, places are booked up and hard to come by, but wisteria cottage with a hot tub in July in Devon was available, we thought our luck was in! It turned out to be a good base, and was clean and comfortable. BUT, it’s not necessarily a place I’d recommend while it does have a fair few things going for it. - location. It’s a good base to get to the seaside and some attractions but it’s tucked away and a little awkward to drive to. While situated in a pretty countryside location which is good for walkers, and is peaceful it isn’t very near local amenities. -parking. Worth noting you can’t park outside the cottage, although parking isn’t far away. - hot tub. Doesn’t come with very clear instructions on how to use, and is an inconvenient location when booked with wisteria cottage as it’s through the courtyard and games room which put us off using it. It was a shame. - games room. Far amount of games to play with for different ages, but it’s tired decor doesn’t make it the most pleasant space. The pool table only accepts 50ps but everything else was free to use. - honesty shop (small table and fridge with items on display). Would have liked to see local produce but the usual brand staples (Colgate, dolmio etc) were on show. We didn’t use it, but might have to support and try local artisanal producers. - wisteria cottage. Only the main tv is smart, the other tv is in the main bedroom. The lounge is dark and dingy. The whole cottage is basic dated decor, but all was clean, quiet and comfortable. We’d booked for two couples and 2 kids but it wasn’t really designed for this. Space was tricky and the only space for the travel cot was in the main bedroom, so don’t book if you need this in another room. It has a large master double, a small twin room (where beds had been pushed together for a couple) and a small single room) The kitchen is fairly equipped, enough plates and cutlery, but it only offers just enough and for keen/ accomplished cooks this might not offer what you need. No kids crockery supplied. We were only provided one key, we didn’t ask for another but would have been useful. Hoped for more info in the cottage to welcome you and provide info about the local area but nothing was really provided. We hardly saw or spoke to the owners. The back paved seating area is shared with the next door cottage. The two bathrooms upstairs are fine and more modern, the cloak room loo is super tiny. - the farm - no info about where the animals are or how to get to see them, but we stumbled across the crazy old turkey bird, quite a sight! And I did fulfil a lifelong ambition to pet a sheep, they’re very tame and seemed to love a little back rub.

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at Odle Farm. As you say in your review you visited during the Covid pandemic, this also meant that we had had to take a lot of extras out of the cottages as specified by government guidelines, one being the welcome folder with a lot of the information in that would have answered your queries. The Welcome Folder had, however, all been but online in our "Stay Planner" which you would have been sent login details to access. I have checked back and you didn't go into the planner which is a shame as all the information about the animals and what time you could join us on our morning animal rounds was in there, as was a lot of information on places to eat and visit nearby. There are also leaflets on local attractions in the games room, admittedly not as many as usual as again a lot of attractions hadn't had any new ones printed due to the pandemic. Government guidelines also stated that everything in the kitchens has to go through the dishwasher between guests, obviously with the changeover times being tight and not having time to get through too many loads, we did remove some of the kitchen itinery but it was also mentioned in the stay planner that if you needed anything extra to please ask as we had it available. We ask that guests keep the courtyard free of cars unless unloading or loading their cars as the car park is only a short distance from the courtyard. This keeps children safe when going from their cottages to the games room. I have double-checked and it is clearly stated on our website and in the stay planner that the hot tub for Wisteria cottage is across the courtyard so I am sorry that you were disappointed. Decor - The whole cottage had been repainted before we reopened in April and all the details and photos of the cottage and the games room are on the website? We have replaced the kitchen in Wisteria cottage during March 2022 though......new photos to be uploaded to the website soon. Our Honesty shop was started as requested by previous guests with essentials that were often forgotten or to rustle up a quick meal to avoid a trip into town. We would love to stock more local produce but with only 4 cottages and a maximum of 12 people staying at any one time it doesn't have a great turnover. We encourage our guests to support local producers and are currently in the process of arranging a welcome hamper which will contain a discount card to use locally to support local businesses........fingers crossed this will be ready by May 2022. We would happily have provided another key if asked aswell as answered some of the queries in this review, and definitely recommended signing in to the stay planner. Covid has meant we have had to introduce self check-in which has meant we don't meet and greet our guests as we used to (we miss this) but we are always available to help/answer any queries be it by a phone call or a knock on the door, whichever guests are more comfortable with. I'm pleased you fulfilled your ambition to pet a sheep, and thank you again for the detailed feedback.

Our second stay to Odle farm was as relaxing as the first time in 2020. The first time we stayed in Jasmine Cottage and this time in Wisteria. Both are lovely with great size kitchens and living rooms. Wisteria is bigger with a good double room downstairs. The cottages are always extremely clean, very well equipped and well looked after. The grounds are well kept and provide both beautiful walks and lovely views. There is a communal games room with proper air hockey and pool tables. As well as a space dedicated to table tennis. Wisteria cottage came with access to a spa hot tub which was also very well maintained and was used most evenings to unwind. The family that run the site are extremely helpful and always a pleasure when they saw us coming and going. Odle farm is in a great location to take advantage of an area that has so much to visit but at the end of the day, is a quiet and idyllic place to return to.

Excellent cottage well equipped with plentiful and good quality saucepans, knives etc plus a dishwasher washing machine and microwave. Nice to have dishwasher tablets and washing up liquid supplied as well as bathrobes for the hot tub. Location is beautiful with stunning views across the valley (we were exceptionally lucky with the weather too). We had some lovely days out close by in Lyme Regis and Seatown and a bit further afield at Burgh Island and Lynton My daughters fell in love with the lambs on the farm and the wild goats at the Valley of the Rocks near Lynton. Happy to recommend Odle Farm
