Clearly a lovely local pub in the winter. Just what we had hoped for. A good meal and quiet early night on a winters night. It rather backfired with a band playing beneath our room until closing and the fire alarm going off at 2pm. The latter was unlucky but an email warning us about the band would have been polite and easy given November is far from the high season. Other nights we would have enjoyed it. But after a really busy stressful week, a long drive and 6 hours walking on the moor - we were far from refreshed after a few hours disturbed sleep! This is not to take away from the friendly staff and perfectly adequate room and food. Just warn us next time 😊

Had a lovely weekend on Dartmoor in Kestor Inn. The room had a view to die for, a HUGE bed, warm and comfortable. Great breakfast, plenty of it, Perfectly cooked evening meal. The restaurant/bar area was so clean and lovely. All the staff we met were so friendly and helpful, taking time for a chat. Perfect stay, would definately stay there again.

Lovely pub, nice atmosphere with a very friendly landlord. The food was very good and was well presented. We had a burger and a fish finger sandwich with profiteroles for dessert. Not over priced at all. Will definitely be back!!

what a little gem. From the second we parked the car from the moment we left after breakfast I can honestly say that we had the best time ever. The owners and staff were very friendly and could not do enough for us. We were made so welcome we didn’t want to leave. The room was excellent,en suite shower and toilet was the epitome of cleanliness-bed was so comfortable we didn’t want to get up. Evening food was delicious and the breakfast great!! Situated perfectly for all things Dartmoor as well as being not too far from Torbay and the seaside. I must admit this has been one of the best 4day breaks I’ve experienced and would definitely recommend to anyone who will listen. We will return-and that’s a promise!!!

WOW !! I’ve lived in Devon all my life and spent some happy years in Bovey Tracey right on the edge of Dartmoor. Over the years, I’ve visited many of the pubs and Inns across Dartmoor. Some were good, a lot were just average. Strangely, one place not visited was the Kestor Inn. Manaton. That was corrected last Sunday. My wife and I received a lovely welcome from the owners - quite rare these days! Parking was easy and the whole Inn ambiance was just wonderful. We were intending to just stay for a drink but the carvery looked so inviting that we stopped for lunch. It was so good! This Inn has a lot of support from locals confirmed by a partner who said there were only two people in the busy and almost full restaurant area he didn’t know. Will we be visiting again ...…..you bet !!!

We had a lovely couple of nights staying at the Kestor Inn. The room (room 2) was very comfortable with a great view of the moors. The bed was very comfortable and extra pillows provided on request. The ensuite was clean and shower was good. Only very minor comments, the TV is a bit old and could do with an update to a smart TV and the floor boards by the bed creaked loudly when stepped on during the night. The ensuite could do with a night light so that when used during the night the light doesn't shine brightly into the bedroom. The pub is very nice with wood beams and has obviously been well looked after. A great choice of ale and other drinks. The food is outstanding and we ate there both evenings, having coffee in the lounge area afterwards. Breakfast was also outstanding and they are happy to substitute items. Great decaff coffee! The staff are very nice and obliging and the landlord, James is good for a laugh. It looks like a great deal of thought has been put into the presentation of pub side of the business and the actual bedrooms, but if I was to be very picky, it is a bit untidy in the corridor to the rooms...instead of a table with some flowers on the landing there's a hoover. Spare pillows etc are stored behind a curtain. I also didn't much like having to walk through the kitchen and past the bins to exit the pub when the front door was locked. These are minor things and overall we very much enjoyed our stay and plan to return in the future.

This place is everything you want a pub on Dartmoor to be! The staff were pleasant and approachable, the drinks were great (local ale from the town down the road) and the gardens were beautifully kept. It was striking just how clean the toilets were - they were immaculate, which was honestly very impressive! We had a salad from their specials menu and a pie, both of which were astonishing - presentation was world class, very tasty, and surprisingly affordable considering the portion size and obvious quality. These people clearly work very hard to get everything right, and it shows! Well done everyone at the Kestor Inn, you’re doing a wonderful job👍🏻

A lovely weekend at the Kestor Inn. We were attending a wedding at the nearby Neadon Barn (incidentally, a wonderful wedding venue) and stayed a couple of nights at the Kestor. The breakfasts were excellent and the one night we ate there we were very happy with the food. The place was immaculately clean and with everything expected of a hotel room. Manaton is in the middle of nowhere, just beautiful countryside with lots of peace and quiet. Love the area and this is a perfect place for a short break. Highly recommended by me.

We stopped over on our way to Penzance. Room 5 is a spacious room and the only dog friendly room. We thoroughly enjoyed our one night. Landlord was friendly and looked after us well. Lots of food choice. Would definitely return. Easy to park and immediate access to beautiful Dartmoor.
