Told 6 times by 3 different staff members we can’t use wood burner in our van. We were already aware of this from website. Pitched on muddy pitch right in front of waste disposal (see photo). Complained to be told no others available (plenty of empty grass pitches seen throughout stay). I underestimated van by 70cm, not sure why this would change pitch when website says pitches are very spacious. Showers have very low pressure and look tired, need a tidy up. Neighbour let dogs poo on our pitch and staff reluctant to help. Staff member threw dog waste in bush by our pitch (unsure why when we all had to put in bin when this is what staff do) and walked away with no word of apology. So many rules and children made to feel an inconvenience, there is no play area! Felt very judged as our van is older. Will definitely not stay again. …

Albeit a nice location and good layout of pitches and facilities it did not make up for the rudeness of a couple of members of staff. We were aware that check out was at 10.30am and at 10.34am with just the rolling of the tent to do we had a watch tapping member of staff who could have chosen a number of ways to politely ensure we were nearly on our way but he chose to be confrontational. A real Shame. Another camper came over to us and also commented that the way he spoke was out of order and unnecessary. I’m afraid the other reviews about rules are correct - you’ve been warned so you can make an informed choice before staying here. This review has been written by people who hardly ever complain or write reviews.

Having read some reviews about rude owners and over the top rules, we arrived unsure what welcome we'd receive. Ignore the negative reviews! They don't reflect the experience we had at all. Everyone we encountered was friendly and polite, from the lady in reception, the man who took us to our pitch and the cleaners. We were politely asked to try to keep within our pitch and to keep noise down late at night...both sensible requests for good reason. Pitches were generous and toilet/shower blocks were regularly cleaned. The site is fairly quiet in the peaceful village of Uplyme, a short drive from Lyme Regis. The wood fired pizza truck on the Saturday night was a nice option. We'd stay here again if we return to the area.

Just returned from our 5th visit to Hook Farm, it’s a beautiful campsite with stunning views. Peaceful and clean site, toilets and showers very clean, washing machine and tumble dryer handy. Very friendly staff with lovely little shop selling fresh pastries and bread. The pitches are a good size and secluded from neighbours. Stunning walk down to Lyme, would recommend getting bus back as it’s quite a trek back up. We will be back next year 😊

Just back from a few days at Hook Farm. A very well organised site with helpful staff. Location is great for exploring the Jurassic Coast. Shop on site with fresh bread and pastries and other essentials. Short walk to Lyme Regis and local pub 5 minutes away. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay - Thank you

My wife and I stayed 4 nights with our VW Campervan and Vango enclosed awning. We were greeted on arrival by the very friendly and helpful owner and then shown to pitch 37. This was a lovely sited, large, all grass pitch. Sadly, because of all the rain this year, where we had to park the van (because of the wire laid under the grass for vehicle standing) there was a sea of mud right where the entrance to the van's living accommodation connected, via the driveaway link, to the awning. Our small groundsheet laid over most of the mud but didn't cover it all. Clearly the wet weather can not be blamed on the site but I think a useful addition that could be provided by the site's owners to cope with the atrocious mud on this pitch (and maybe some others?) would be large duckboards to position over the mud. The whole site is very well laid out with the pitches at different levels, different angles and different heights giving very good levels of privacy. The two WC and shower blocks were both fairly modern. The showers worked by putting a 20p coin in the slot and this gives you 4 minutes of lovely hot water. We found that the block at the top of the site was always extremely clean whereas the block at the lower end of the site was less frequently cleaned. Our pitch was nearer the lower one but we felt more comfortable using the block at the top of the site having found the lower block fairly dirty on occasions. The 30 minute or so walk along the river into Lyme Regis is wonderful. So, all in all, Hook Farm is a lovely, peaceful campsite in a great location. It is well laid out with very friendly staff looking after it but maybe needs just a little more attention to the regular cleaning of the lower WC and shower block.…

Well what a lovely site, a little basic and tired but kept clean and tidy and well run. Only one washing machine and drier so queues inevitable, showers coin operated but hot and strong and a little tired but kept clean and tidy. Staff shop well stocked and staff friendly and polite. Site close to local pub the Talbot Arms great for food but booking advised, local buses to Lyme Regis and beyond , a great place would definitely go again 😊😊😊

Camped with my husband & dog for 9 nights at the beginning of July and would recommend to anyone. Lovely friendly staff, although a lady did call prior to arrival to tell me off for extending my initial stay online, when I should have phoned to do this ...... sorry. Good facilities, toilets kept clean and freezers available for cool bag blocks. We were on pitch 12, which was a large level, electric pitch; backing on to a small wood and stream. The site is only for camping and vans; mobile homes would struggle with access, both getting to Hook Farm and getting around. The website clearly stays vans no longer than 6.35m. If you have a large family tent speak to them ....... the pitch I had would certainly take a large tent.

Tried both Electric and non electric camping. Both experiences very good. Showers cost 20p and the water was lovely and warm and lasts 4 mins. Shower/toilets at lower camp very clean with dish washing location outside of them. Lovely walk along the river to Lyme Regis with only a small section incline on the way back as you get to the site. Staff very friendly Perfect location.
