The Cricketers Arms is the ideal place to stay whether you’re on business, travelling to the airport, attending a wedding or simply visiting the area. We have 10 beautiful, individually designed bedrooms all with en-suite facilities and lots of homely touches. Some are more modern, with contemporary furnishings and splashes of bold colour; others are more traditional, with antique pieces and soft, muted colours. All have really comfortable king or super kingsize beds, with good linen, luxurious throws and piles of cushions, as well as powerful showers, fluffy white towels and lovely toiletries. One room even has a stunning free-standing bath. There’s also a digital flat screen television, direct dial telephone and free Wi-Fi in every room to use during your stay and you can treat yourself to champagne and chocolates on arrival, too.We have a choice of rooms from doubles, superior doubles and twins to junior suites and family rooms – three have their own staircase up from the restaurant so you can put the children to bed and enjoy a relaxed supper. Eat, and sleep well and have a hearty English breakfast the next day. Enjoy great value too; rooms start at £65 for the night, with a family room costing £135, including breakfast. As well as being ideal for getting to or from Stansted airport, the Cricketers Arms is just a stone’s throw from Parklands in Quendon, so if you’re attending a wedding there and need somewhere to stay, just give us a call. We also have a big car park where you can leave your car for free during your holiday if you travel from Stansted. Stay one night with us and get your trip off to the perfect start, and if you’re back late, have a comfy night with us before heading home. We can book transfers for you.

A really mixee stay. Lots of misinformation on booking confirmation, including 3 different check in deadlines for a Sunday on 1 email. Appreciate this may be booking.coms error, but it read like info provided by the establishment.
At arrival, there were what appeared to be staff members outside drinking as when I tripped down the steps a lady said "I don't want to be having to fill a form in for the accident" obviously joking so brushed this off.
Waiting at the bar to check in, with cases. The guy behind the bar didn't greet us and proceeded to pour a drink. When I worked behind a bar, if I was busy I'd still say "hi, I'll be with you in just 2 minutes" and at least welcome people coming in. When someone joked that it was a really badly poured Guinness he said its fine it's only for me anyway! Great customer service.
He then showed us to our room and told us breakfast started at 8. I said it had said 7.30 on the info and we had a flight to catch and had really been stayed to book the night here as it included breakfast. He wasn't the slightest bit interested in helping when i said is there nothing that cqn be done, thinking even a continental offering would do, and he just said nope definitely 8. It was all a bit strange the service and atmosphere. It felt like mainly staff who had clocked off enjoying a few drinks and not worrying about the service being provided to guests any more.
The room was absolutely sweltering. I turned the radiator off 3 times but it clicks back on. Shower made an unbelievable racket. Whole room just needs a bit of maintenence, but we didn't pay much so weren't expecting anything special and it seemed clean enough.
Stay redeemed by the next morning me thinking I'll just see if we can get breakfast and bumping into what I can only assume is the owner because the quality of service was miles better. He immediately accepted we had been given incorrect information, got us seated with drinks and even said he would get the chef to come early. The chef then made a lovely breakfast and the service we received was great.
I would probably stay again when flying from stansted but I do think the bar staff could do with a bit of a customer service refresher and as I say a bit of maintenence on the rooms.

Response from TCA Management, Other at The Cricketers' Arms
Responded 31 Oct 2024
Dear Alex, Firstly, many thanks for taking the time to review our facilities. Secondly, sincere apologies for the greeting at reception / bar by one of my staff. This is completely unacceptable and I will personally deal with said situation. I recall the following day, indeed it was myself (GM) who arranged said chef and breakfast. Frustratingly, yes we do offer a continental breakfast which is given on the night of your stay. I also note on Boooking.Com that our breakfast is 07.30 onards but yes in fact it's 08:00 hrs onwards, again I'll change this. So pleased to hear you'll stay with us in the future and when you do, please call myself (Andy) who will accomdate your requirements. Regards Andy @ TCA

We arrived at the cricketers arms for a music festival.
On arrival we was told we couldn’t check in to our room until 3pm but was told by friends that they had been allowed to check in earlier than the 3pm time we was told.
Not a major catastrophe.
When we finally checked in we was shown to our room and given our keys.
On entering the room we realised that the ceilings and doors were extremely low due to the fact I hit my head as soon as I entered. Only being 5ft 11 I still had to duck down several inches everytime I walked around the room.
As there was no warning signs or padding over the low beams in the room I think it may have been advisable to be told of the room height before entering.
Bed was comfortable, room was clean and tidy and very spacious.
The fire alarm went off at 2.30am which caused a major PANIC in the rooms close to ours as there was no one around to advise us of the problem we was accounting. Someone put there head out of a door 5 minutes later to inform us that it was all ok and we could go back to our rooms.
When we went down for breakfast we was shown to our table and the young girl came to take our order.
She bought our hot drinks over and informed us that they had ran out of milk jars so it came in a cup.
The food was then bought out and after a couple of minutes we had to ask for the cutlery and condiments as there was none brought to the table with the food.
The next party to arrive at there table was given there hot drink in paper cups again explained by the young girl that they had no more coffee cups.
The food was very nice and well presented. Compliments to the chef.
All in all allowances can be made due to the current situation we are all having to deal with but at £120 a night, would not say a great value for the money.

Very welcoming staff and excellent value for money. Breakfast was included in the price and was delicious. Room was spotlessly clean and there was a range of tea/coffee/water in the rooms which was brilliant. The bed was comfy and it was easy to get a good night’s sleep! The bathroom was also spotless and a great size - far bigger than expected. The only con with the bathroom was that the plumbing was very loud so (which did take a few goes) dripping could be heard, especially after flushing the toilet. However, simply shutting the door helped a lot so it was not a problem for us but it may be for very light sleepers. There was poor wifi connection in the room (which we did expect) but also very minimal phone service so texting/calling rarely worked either. Downstairs in the pub, however, the wifi worked perfectly and there was signal so you were never really stuck!
Overall, a lovely place to stay. My boyfriend and I chose to stay here to visit Audley End and it was the best decision we could have made - it was in the perfect location, with lovely rooms and gorgeous food - would highly recommend.

The cricket pitch is directly in front of the pub which would be a wonderful place to sit on a warm summer's evening. Having said that we were there in May so drank in the bar instead! it is a very nice friendly pub which is obviously used by all the locals.
We found the bar staff very helpful and they booked a taxi for our night out.
Our bedroom was large and the bed comfotable so we had a good night's sleep,
There wasnt a lot of choice for breakfast although i am sure they woud have obliged if there was something you wanted that wasnt there. As it was, we had a cooked breakfast that wass obviously cooked to order and using very good ingredients. We thought it was really good value for money and would deinitely stay again.

We booked The Cricketers’ Arms for two evenings as we were attending a wedding at nearby Parklands at Quendon. The correspondence pre-arrival was very efficient. From arrival to departure we were made to feel very welcome by all of the lovely staff. Andy is a great friendly and warm guy, as are all of the lovely team. The bar area has a nice relaxed and friendly feel. We enjoyed a fabulous meal on the Friday evening. There is a great choice and the food was superb. Our breakfasts also were amazing and I was certainly looked after as a vegan. The beds were comfy. Would definitely recommend and would certainly return!

From the minute we arrived, the staff were friendly and efficient. Check-in was a breeze and the room was cosy and scrupulously clean. We had (non guest) friends join us for breakfast in the morning. The team expertly managed and delivered on 12 cooked breakfasts that all arrived in a reasonable time. The breakfast was delicious, a special mention for the poached eggs which were superb. Only thing to be aware of: this village has a v poor phone signal and the pub's wi-fi was also a bit hit and miss. Would definitely stay here again though.

If you are a fan of a good curry and you live near the Cricketers Arms then you have to pay them a visit. I promise you won't regret it. All the dishes were cooked to perfection. Full of flavour and not oily or greasy in any way.

First time in the pub visiting relatives. Service was really friending and helpful. The hygiene measures very good.
The food really nice, well cooked, lots of flavour, excellent presentation.
It was a little cool, but on a hot day, sitting on the green watching the cricket would be ideal.
Also really close to Stanstead Airport makes it very convenient for travellers
