We stayed at The Three Swans at Market Harborough for their New Year’s Eve Dinner Dance with 3 other couples. We have spent New Year’s Eve here 3 times before in the past, the last time being Dec/Jan 2012/2013. We had a good time on all previous occasions and thought we would come again. They did not disappoint and we had an enjoyable stay again this time. I would certainly come here for their New Year’s Eve event again in the future.
We arrived between 3 and 4 pm. Parking is normally chargeable in their car park but we were given a ticket to put in the front windscreen that gave us free parking until check out the following day. Had a pleasant welcome at reception and checked into our rooms in the Banqueting Room block. Our room was 104 on the third floor. The room was large and comfortable with a lounge area and a desk, ample wardrobe space, full length mirrors and a Juliette balcony. The room had good lighting (which I find is often not the case these days). There was tea/coffee making facilities, complimentary biscuits, bar of chocolate and bottles mineral water. There was also a room safe and iron and ironing board.
Bathroom was a bit tired but clean and warm with a heated towel rail to keep the thick bath towels warm. There was a shower over the bath. There was a nice selection of complimentary toiletries, bath robes and complimentary slippers.
The evening function was very enjoyable with a nice crowd of guests. A lot of them had made an effort to dress in cocktail or evening dresses for the ladies and dinner suits and bow ties for the men. The room was tastefully decorated for the event. On arrival there were canapes and a celebration drink. The 3-course meal was good and nicely presented and the service was very good. I noticed that the staff ensured that the ladies were served their plate before the gentlemen. Something you don’t often see these days. This was followed by coffee and a chocolate. There was a ladies singing live during the meal and a DJ took over for the rest of the evening. He was good and the dancefloor was full all evening. The evening finished at 1am when we all went to our rooms for a good night’s sleep. In the morning breakfast was on offer until 11 am. There was a good selection of cold and hot buffet on offer. Again, the staff were friendly, courteous and helpful. Check our was supposed to have been at 11 am but we were probably a good 15 minutes late checking out of our room but it did not seem to be a problem.

I stayed here with my family for a mid-week stay. We were a bit nervous due to Covid but couldn't have been more reassured. The hotel has clear signage and rules displayed as well as electronic dispensers of hand sanitizer dotted around the hotel at entry and exit points. All the staff were mindful of social distancing and did their best to seat us away from other tables as one of our party was particularly vulnerable. A clear list of all the changes that they have made in line with Covid regs was available in the room.

The hotel was lovely, nicer than I expected. It has lovely period features and is very comfortable. We were impressed with the touches in the rooms, dressing gowns, Divine chocolates, bottled water and slippers. The beds were really comfortable as well. It is a Coaching Inn in the middle of the town centre so well situated.

We had breakfast each day and ate a meal one evening in the restaurant. The breakfasts and evening meal were excellent. Service-wise, we were attended by Mark, Josh, Billie-May and KarriAnn along with others. They were all extremely helpful and we were impressed by how attentive and professional they were, especially as some family members have allergies and intolerances so our orders were sometimes complex. They were very patient with the children in the party as well.

Overall we had a really nice comfortable stay.

We stayed here overnight as a wedding anniversary treat. After everything that’s gone on this year with COVID-19 we were a little apprehensive about booking a night in a hotel but we needn’t have been. Everything was spotless and you could see all the extra measures put in place to protect both staff and guests alike.
Our room had been upgraded which was an lovely surprise! We sat and enjoyed a few drinks in the sunshine in the beautiful courtyard where the atmosphere was lovely and the food that was being served looked incredibly delicious!! Unfortunately we’d pre booked an evening meal elsewhere but wish we’d stayed and dined at the hotel! A great excuse to re visit!
We did stay to enjoy breakfast the following morning which was really good.
All staff very professional and attentive at all times. Lovely warm friendly welcome from the lady on reception. Will definitely be back. Thank you Tom and your wonderful team! The break was just what we needed.

Only one good thing, the bed was very comfortable. Everything else was beyond bad.The room was very corporate, and never have I stayed in such a dirty room. There is to much to list ,some things in the room and bathroom have never been cleaned in months, and the vent in bathroom not been cleaned ever,so dirty it was blocked with dust.Stains on wall,no top sheet on bed,the remote for the tv had bits of god knows what between buttons and the phone in the room was beyond dirty.shower curtain was all stained at the bottom and the shower leaked all over floor, which is why the door was peeling at the bottom.Breakfast was a buffet style and all was cold including the plates which were in a plate warmer that was not turned on.When I asked the server who was wearing a dirty pair of Jean's and dirty trainers do you have coffee,he said " yes in the kitchen".If you are going to charge £105 per night you have to have a way better attention to detail,to be be honest it's very basic to do the basic. We told our conserns to the reception, and a rebate was given ,but really no apology and really did not want to know our concerns. To sum up,stay somewhere else and like us sometimes you only have one chance to go away for a night and it should be what you pay for.

We stayed here for a family wedding - and it was an awful experience from start to finish.

However lets get the plus out of the way first. The food in the restaurant and café bit during the day was really good. The service in there was also great. Breakfast was great as was the breakfast service. The beds were clean and comfy. Also big shout out to Tim the assistant manager for being a beacon of politeness and warmth in what was an oasis of dour faces and poor service.

Everything else was awful and we went through three different rooms due to the fact that the superior double room we booked had a fixed shower head. Fixed at about chin height on anyone over 6ft like us.

We tried room 112, then room 62 which was even worse and stank and was opposite an MOT testing station. We then had room 106. In the end we took room 106 because it didn't smell even though it had a fixed shower head.

The rooms were all very shabby and nothing like the photographs of the Superior Double on the website - when we asked about this we were told they were reserved for "families". Whilst the beds and bedding was clean and comfy everything else in the rooms was tired and worn out - it must have been a really nice hotel once when it was refurbished 30 years ago.

So after that hassle we were more than ready for a night on the beer in the public bar of the The Three Swans public house and hotel. Except we told it the pub bit was closed and we could only get a drink if we eat in the restaurant, closed due to staff shortages (which seems to be a theme in all of the reviews I've read of the place). I mean who accepts 60 plus bookings for rooms the night before a wedding and then closes the bar leaving all the wedding guest high and dry. So we decamped to the Sugar Loaf pub next door and promptly drank the place dry and had a fantastic night....thank you Wetherspoons and the beer was about 30% cheaper.

The day and night of the wedding the service was delivered slowly and by staff who looked flustered and unhappy and like they didn't want to be there. Unlike the food in the restaurant that reception food was average to say the least. The two mains were Lamb and Chicken and were both badly done, the lamb cutlet being rare and very tough whilst the chicken was dry and tough to cut up. However the pate was fine as was the two deserts.

In the evening the bar for the disco had two staff on for over 150 guests and this meant long long queues for drink

Didnt like the staff and bedroom. Got to the hotel 30 mins early and unlike some hotels, I was told I wasnt allowed to check in early even though the room was ready. Not a problem so I asked in the meantime if I could have my free parking permit and leave the car parked until it was time to check in and was made to feel like a nuisance by Hayley as her words were “you should be fine for 30 minutes without it” which means nothing to the car park management if I was to get a ticket. Once checked in I found the room a disgrace. Bed was not made properly & I couldn’t tell if it was slept in before we got there, cob webs hanging from the ceiling, broken window handle, brown stains all over the wardrobe, hand prints over the window all whilst overlooking a building site when I asked for a room with “decent view”. Bathroom light is sensored and goes off mid shower until you get out. Furniture in the room was very dated and to be honest I have seen better stuff outside British Heart Foundation. Also heard the tv in the room above which is unheard of in a hotel. I’m just glad I didn’t pay extra for a superior room as that would have been more mess to look at. Admittingly I should have complained there & then however after 3hrs travelling to get there and if they couldn’t offer me 30 mins early check in I dont think I stood a chance to get a better room.

We stayed for 1 night here, but it was perfect the room was very comfortable with amazing shower and body lotions, not in little sachet, but big bottles. the food we had was excellent and served by very friendly staff, they also have a free car park, which is a big thumbs up. The breakfast was just right a good selection served in a stunning room, the manager was walking around keeping an eye on things, which is great to see. we really enjoyed our stay, the only regret is we should have stayed the night on our return journey and not were we ended up.Keep up the good work

I will not be recommending this hotel. The car park is a pay and display, it is only when you book in to Reception that you are handed a parking ticket but by then it is too late. Then there was no hot water in the bathroom, the problem seems to be that if another room turns on a tap the water for room 108 goes cold immediately. I didn't think that anybody could spoil fish & chips but the three swans at Market Harborough produced under cooked ships, four of which were raw inside. Breakfast the following morning was even worse with two under-cooked eggs as part of my Full-English. A puddle of albumen slime on my plate is no way to start the day. There were two slices of bacon stuck together, slightly cooked on the outside but not at all where they touched. The following two mornings we opted for Continental which was OK but we were charged £35 each for each morning, and still no hot water in the room, I shaved using the kettle. So, travellers, badly cooked food and cold water showers awaits you at the Three Swans.

Dear TheAdder598, Thank you for your review, i am so sorry to hear that you will not be recommending us to others based on your most recent stay. As you can see from our recent reviews, we seldom receive negative so your comments do come as a surprise and have been discussed and shared with the team. Having taken some time to investigate, I am of the understanding that our Deputy General Manager did respond to your complaint regarding your hot water supply and that no technical issue was found, we weren't however aware of the disappointment you experienced at breakfast and I am sorry that this was the case. I do hope that you will choose to join us again and that other reviews here on Trip Advisor will give you the confidence to do so. Best regards Tom Reeve General Manager

As you may see from the review title, I wasn't expecting too much of this hotel but I was very pleasantly surprised. I have stayed in lots of hotels of this age and style and often find them to be a little tired, but the Three Swans was absolutely not.

It has an interesring layout, running quite a long way back from the high street with multiple building at the back, including a small conference centre. The walkway that runs through from front to back wends its way nicely through a pleasant outside courtyard-style area with seating in the sun (and covered if needed). There is a nice little coffee shop that does cakes and a bar and eatery.

My room (in the conference centre part) was very clean, modern, well furnished and comfortable. Everything worked fine. As it was an executive room it came with some nice free Divine chocolate and biscuits, plus nice coffee bags and tea bags in the room, with kettle and Nespresso machine. The bath was great, and I even had a rubber duck!

Staff were really friendly and helpful and show that, even in the difficult climate for recruitment at the moment, it is possible to recruit and train good staff who can be a credit to your business.

Tips for visitors: 1) parking is at the rear - the hotel web site has a FAQ section that gives you the postcode you need (the main hotel postcode takes you to the High Street which can be quite snarled up with traffic and there is no entrance to the car park from the front) and 2) when you arrive you don't need to pay for parking - reception will give you a pink slip for your dashboard.

Congratulations to all at the Three Swans for running such a good hotel.

Many years ago we ate at The Three Swans but this is the first time we have stayed. We found the room very comfortable and well appointed. the room was comfortably warm on a cold night. Everything was clean and the plug socket which stayed on even when the key card was taken out was very useful for charging phones, tablets and PCs. The evening meal we had was nicely prepared and we enjoyed both the starter and main. The mains are quite substantial! Breakfast was fine although I couldn't find the muesli, only granola. The staff were very friendly although the head waiter was a little short with us when we said we had no reservation for dinner, which was because both the Receptionist and the Bar lady had told us we wouldn't need one! We would happily stay there again.

Hi. Sorry I can’t answer this question as I’ve never stayed at this hotel. Their telephone number is 01858 466644 where I’m sure they will help you. If it’s any help, I use a rollator and can say from experience that most of the paths have lowered kerbs and there are plenty of disabled parking bays.
