We found a spot in the good side car park although there is ample parking on the road outside.
First impressions of the hotel were really good just a lovely looking building.
The only reason the hotel isn’t getting a 5 star review is the location (I’m aware this isn’t something the owners can control) Boston isn’t somewhere I would visit again on purpose, unless passing through to go somewhere else and if I did have to spend a night or 2 there I would 100% choose the quayside.
The main entrance leads into a bar, don’t think this is reception like we did lol, we stood outside waiting our turn for about 5 minutes until I noticed the people inside the door were drinking.
Reception is actually round the back of the bar. So go in main entrance and walk left around the bar and then reception is just past the first couple of restaurant tables on the right. This should have better signage really.
Luckily for us on entering we were greeted by 1 of many happy smiley polite staff we encountered on our stay, who showed us round to reception.
Our room wasn’t massive but it was really nice and decorated really well with a massive tv which was nice.
Our shower door came off the runners when closed completely so just be careful shutting it .
The bar area in the hotel is nice and drinks a really well priced and they have a massive selection which we loved ,as I’m a spiced rum drinker you only normally get Morgan’s and that’s it. Where as here I didn’t even finish trying all the different ones, it was the same for gins & whiskey’s.
We booked a table in the restaurant for our evening meal, which turned out to be a really good decision as I can’t imagine town being that inviting in the evening.
The menu was a little weird with a big Asian influence in the starters which we really liked but no Asian influence in the main at all apart from a teriyaki salad.
Because we loved the sound of a few of the starters we got 3 and weren’t disappointed with our crispy chilli beef, our bacon wrapped halloumi fries which were my fav and the our gyozas.
For mains we had chicken parmigiana which was really good my partner who had salmon with mash(they had no new potato’s) which she enjoyed.
The only thing which was a little bit disappointing was my dessert which on the menu was a misspelled Eton mess spelled Eaton. I’m not sure if it is deliberate so it didn’t have to be a typical eton mess.
What I had was just ice cream with a couple of strawberries with a whole (packet) meringue plopped on top.
Finishing on a positive which is what the quayside deserves. The continental breakfast was really good and that’s coming from a big English breakfast fan, which I didn’t need to order after having the continental breakfast, great choices to be had.
Really nice little hotel thank you quayside staff for a very pleasant stay
The shower room was a reasonable size but smelt of drains and the toilet needed a proper deep clean, stained and the seat fittings were disgusting.
The room overlooked the car park so we were disturbed in the early hours and again very early in the morning so not a very good nights sleep.
Continental breakfast was more than adequate, the choice of a cooked breakfast was available for an additional payment.
Would we stay here again or recommend it? Sorry that’s got to be a NO
We moved to room 20 across the very narrow hall. It was larger but equally stuffy, We spent two nights there but left on early to go and stay with some friends for the last night as it was unbearable and we were not sleeping well at all.
Also on the day we arrived, we asked about food. This was on a FRIDAY night and the restaurant was open but a nasty odor of stale cooking fat pervaded the area, The menu was handwritten and only showed fried foods.
I asked for a salad and was told they had none, the explanation was that they did not really open until the following week, but had been opened for 'key workers' only, and 'anyone else who turned up'. Saturday evening the front of the house was locked and no staff on duty, so Sunday morning we left the hotel early, cutting short our stay.
I have emailed to complain and request a refund for the third night but still await a reply.
I would not recommend this establishment.
i requested a chair for my room so i could do reports on my laptop and was told i couldnt have 1 whilst hotel rooms are clean and tidy a lot leaves to be desired as to attitude of staff and owners who dont care it seems and also i expect to get what i paid for i work for a large company and they will not use this hotel chain any further
The bed was really really bad, it felt like it just had springs and nothing else. My daughter complained a lot that the bed was wobbly and she cannot sleep. The room has a big TV and I would recommend to spend half of the TV money to buy a better mattress so one can sleep comfortably.
Bathroom was alright, it had spiders and spider webs.
The free brkfast offered was continental and had a great variety.
Overall I would never stay here again and would not recommend as well just because of mattress, room size and the heat in the room.
Only negative is the “continental breakfast”
Apples oranges bananas, ham and cheese sandwiches wrapped in cling film, boiled eggs, wrapped portions of cheese.. no bread no toast, had to ask for cutlery, no salt pepper on tables, no water, cheep porridge just pour on boiling water ...Only cheep nasty pre packed croissants and breakfast buns no butter.. honest a joke.
Another couple were saying the same.
Book room only.Come on management team you have a great located hotel .. but ur breakfast is the worst I’ve ever had😧
"Breakfast is a very very basic Continental Restaurant and Bar closed on Sundays so no relaxed seating available."Read full review
