Our wedding was absolutely perfect at the Poachers Country Hotel. We were a little worried as it had just changed hands a few weeks before our wedding. But everything ran so smoothly.
Lorna was amazing, she was so attentive and friendly at all times. She made sure everyone and everything was where it needed to be throughout the day. She constantly checked in on us amd made sure we had nothing to worry about the whole time we were there.
Dan was also amazing and friendly. He made sure anything we wanted we got immediately. He also kept the drinks flowing and our guests had drinks in hand at all times.
Food was beautiful. All of the guests have since commented how much they enjoyed it. I also asked B&R, the catering staff, if my husband could have a cheeky cheese and pickle sandwich with his main course as a surprise (that was all he really wanted) and they has no problem whatsoever in doing this for him- they even used Branston Pickle, his favourite.
Waiting staff were all also so friendly and provided service with a smile.
The venue itself was set up so beautifully. It certainly had the wow factor. The bar area is really quirky with little nooks for guests to sit and chill out away from everyone if they needed to.
Breakfast the next morning was very tasty with a full English brought out very quickly after sitting down with pastries, fruit, cereal, juices and hot drinks to choose from also.
Rooms were very comfortable, clean and spacious. We had a few extra beds needed in the rooms for some of the children and they were all where they needed to be.
I just want to say a huge thankyou to all of the staff that were there on our wedding day for all the hard work and effort put it to make our day so special. It was even better than I had imagined 😊

I cannot speak highly enough of the excellent service we all received at the Celebration of Life for my husband. The wonderful food and accommodation were just what we were looking for. The extended family could all be together in one location and we receive the excellent attention of the staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them.

Attended for my cousins wedding. Had an amazing time. Staff were all fantastic, very attentive. I asked for a cushion for my elderly mum and Lorna bought one immediately. When taking mum to the facilities Jamie asked if we needed any help. This morning at breakfast Lorna wad there replenishing all of the fruit cereals etc. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Wanted everything to be perfect for my cousin and it certainly was. Couldn't fault a thing

Visited the Poachers for a family members wedding. Although the venue and the wedding were absolutely fantastic, the room we booked for the night was very meh along with some of the service we received, the room was very poor with several long black hairs in the bath and sink, a window that didn’t stay open and a television remote that was very sticky to touch and dirty and finally topped off by a squashed dead spider on the wall (carcus and blood), oh and the fixtures and fittings were in poor conditions in the room and for £85 it really isn’t worth the value. I had heard others had issues with their rooms also with showers not working etc, Throughout the day we enjoyed the garden area and wedding areas, we were seated for dinner and was served by who I assumed was the manager he only went and spilt gravy all over my partners white shirt front and back and without so much as an acknowledgment until I pointed it out and a lack of an apology received, I asked for a damp cloth and was passed a dry napkin to wipe it off, this was the perfect mishap right before a speech was due to be given, luckily we managed to get the mess off before this but did cause a bit of a stressful situations at the time, An apology would have been nice. The rest of the day went fine and as stated previously the wedding itself was great but the service and room did let it down I wouldn’t be interested in visiting again.

Absolutely awful experience. Paid £190 for 2 nights. Where do I start……..Checked in at 3pm after a 5 hour drive. On arrival asked if we could have a sandwich and coffee but where told no food was available so asked for a bottle of water. The lady had just started working there that day was very apologetic and said she couldn’t let me have a bottle of water until the till opened in the bar at 3pm. So we sat and waited but was then told at 3.30pm the bar wouldn’t now be open until 5pm. The room well words fail me see for yourself! No hot water, when you tried to turn the tap on nothing happened then the water shot out with such a force it drowned you. The paint was peeling off the wall, dirty carpet, a pubic hair and a spider with web in the bath. Silver snail trail on floor. No door handle on bathroom door. We paid extra for a full English breakfast. This was self service with a lovely wipe board (not) instructing Guests to only take one sausage, one slice of bacon, one egg and one hash brown. OMG this is not a HOTEL the photos on the site must be really old ones.

We were very fortunate to be invited to a wedding at this venue and even though we only lived 6 miles away decided to stop over in the venue hotel over night. We arrived at 1pm for the 2pm wedding and asked to check into our room to be told we could not check in until 3pm on asking if someone was still in our room we were told No. After some debate they relented and let us into our room. The room was ok, the TV did not work we did report this but no one fixed it. Wedding was lovely. The drinks at the bar are ridiculous expensive. The cooked breakfast in the morning I can honestly say is the worst hotel breakfast I have ever had. All the food is freshly cooked including the plastic sausage! The cooked food is then transferred to cold serving dishes and left on a none heated table for a serve yourself breakfast which you place on to cold plates. The food apart from the plastic sausage was perfectly fine but cold all there effort to cook it was wasted the food was cold and not appealing
Such a shame as there was a large family gathering

Attended a wedding the grounds and venue were lovely. However, the room we stayed in was awful. Found a dead spider under the pillow and then flying bugs around the room over the 2 nights we stayed. The staff member on the Friday said he’d change rooms for us but we’d have to go back to our original room the next day, we didn’t want the faff. Unfortunately he had went home and we went back to even more beetles/bugs crawling in the bathroom and around the skirting boards. We complained in the morning and was told that they were aware of the problem and it’s “frustrating for them” but nothing was done about it other then offering us Air freshener to try and deter them. They didn’t offer any refund for the night before, or had little to none sympathy. The wedding breakfast on the Sunday which you pay extra for was 1 sausage 2 bacon beans and a fried egg, you weren’t offered what type of egg you’d want which is probably me being picky, but would’ve preferred an option.
Apart from that it was a beautiful venue and had a great time celebrating with the family.

I was working down at Boston and this place was ideal for what I wanted. Comfortable bed tv shower what more do you need. Van was safe parked in the pub car park really quiet on a night. You do however only have a kettle so you need to find your own food but tescos and McDonalds are about 2.5 miles away

A great old school country pub with friendly staff and cosy atmosphere. Great for all the family. You absolutely have to try The Poachers Rest Pint! We stayed as party of a wedding party and were very happy with the customer service of the friendly young bar staff and they were very good at keeping the place clean and tidy despite it being a very busy wedding.
