Set in the heart of historical Middleham overlooking Richard III’s childhood home, Middleham Castle, The Priory offers an escape to the country for those who aren’t prepared to compromise on urban luxuries. Middleham is famous for its race horse connections and groups of horses pass by the front of the Priory every morning on their way to the gallops. Located within easy reach of Manchester, Leeds, Harrogate and York, 5 race courses and several golf clubs. Nearest train station is Northallerton, and the nearest town is Leyburn (2 miles). Middleham has a local village store and local public houses serving food. The main house has 5 bedrooms, a guest Drawing Room and dining room. There is a walled garden for the use of guests – sit under the apple tree sipping a glass of wine and sharing one of Chris’s special summer BBQs. Drying, Ironing & Laundry facilities available. Well behaved dogs are welcome at the Priory in certain rooms by arrangement at point of booking for a small additional charge. Street parking available, there are no yellow lines in Middleham! The whole of the Priory is also available for house parties – price on application depending on requirements. For a self catering option, The Coach House which dates back to the 16th Century sleeps up to 8 guests – dog friendly, so bring your favourite 4 legged furry friend. Enjoy walks from the door and in surrounding dales including the Six Dales Trail.

What an amazing guesthouse, a truly great find in North Yorkshire. Beautiful building in a great location opposite the castle. A great welcome from Sarah the owner who was always on hand if we needed anything. We had the large room on the top floor with beautiful copper roll top free standing bath with view out to the castle. The room was large, well equipped and finished to a high standard, and the bed was very comfy. The village is very quiet so a great night's sleep was had on both nights, the main noise was the clip clop of the horses as they make there way to the gallops each morning. Breakfast was beautiful and all cooked fresh when you arrive downstairs in the morning. Cannot recommend this place highly enough if ypu are looking for a place to stay in Middleham. Fabulous.

We stayed for 2 nights at the Priory in room 6. The room was beautifully decorated and perfectly positioned to watch the horses making their way to the gallops each morning.
The hosts were really welcoming and care about the details; a flask of fresh milk for tea and coffee in your room.
Breakfast is cooked to order with a great choice of high quality produce.
There is a lovely courtyard garden, a real afternoon sun trap where you can relax.

This is our fourth visit to The Priory over the last year - it is such a gem of a place you will want to return too!

A beautiful old building with a lot of history lovingly restored by Sarah and Chris, this is a very beautiful but also homely place to visit.

We have stayed in the top floor room with the beams, the other top floor room and the blue room and all are spacious, comfortable, with really great baths and fantastic showers. The beds are very comfortable, and you can tell the sheets, bedding and towels are really top quality.

The hosts are friendly, extremely helpful, with good tips and local knowledge and are also great company. Nothing is too much trouble - one visit my husband hurt his ankle hiking and Sarah organised an ice pack for him to bring down the swelling. This time Sarah has kept my heat pack warmed for my bad back.

The breakfasts are among the very best we’ve had anywhere. A big selection from a “fry up” including local black pudding, smoked salmon, halloumi and avocado. Try the mushrooms fried in butter and the oven roasted tomatoes.

If you’re looking for a very special stay, somewhere you’ll be treated a mix of royalty and family, then you should stay here.

We have loved our weekend at The Priory! Chris and Sarah are lovely people and so easy to talk to. The B&B is very dog friendly, our pup even got a sausage for breakfast. We stayed in the castle view room which was just perfect. The whole B&B was spotless, it had a warm and welcoming feel and the decor was so unique. The town is beautiful, a great place if you love horses. The surroundings areas are just as beautiful. So glad we booked this trip, we will definitely be recommending it to friends and family.

My wife and I have now stayed at the Priory twice, each time with our pet collie. The owners are exceedingly friendly and very accommodating. Our room was quite large and spotlessly clean with an efficient shower and a very large bed.
Breakfast was plentiful with good ingredients and our collie got his own dish with a sausage and biscuits! My wife has some issues with the food she is able to eat but the owners went out of their way to accommodate her.
The Priory is located handily for the pubs etc of the village and there are no issues with parking. There is even an old castle one minute walk away to visit (English Heritage).
Altogether, thoroughly recommended.

Stayed for 3 nights in what we can only describe as the best bed and breakfast accommodation we have experienced. The owners had thought of absolutely everything from toiletries to fresh milk in jugs each day for your room, a fridge in the breakfast room to chill a bottle to then enjoy in the guest lounge in the evening. Rooms were spacious and comfortable, nicely decorated with plenty of towels and even bathrobes for use.
The copper rolled topped bath (with a view of the castle from the window) was the height of luxury and decadence.
From the start of our stay until the end we were made to feel most welcome and almost like friends. Nothing was too much trouble.
We will definitely have no qualms in recommending this place to friends and family and will look forward to another stay as soon as we can.

Ideal location in the small market town of Middleham. Arrived in evening, easily parked 10 steps away, and enjoyed a nice dinner at a pub a 3-4 minute walk away. Room price includes a delicious and beautifully prepared large breakfast (several options). Room was lovely, immaculate, tastefully-appointed, spacious, comfortable. Sarah, owner and host, is delightful, and helpful. A slice of ginger cake with my 6AM coffee was a special treat. Would stay again!

Booked last minute direct with Sarah. From the moment she answered the phone to the moment we left we were made to feel so welcome.
On arrival we were met by Chris, the guesthouse was so clean and full of charm it was great. Our bedroom was amazing, with views over the castle. Everything has been thought of even fresh milk in the bedroom. A 5 star hotel bedroom would do well to compete with the standards at the Priory.
Breakfast both days was amazing. The Black pudding was amazing.
Plenty of areas just too chill and a back garden to die for.
Thank you Chris and Sarah.
We will be back.

Lovely guesthouse in scenic village. This B&B is run by friendly and attentive hosts (thank you Sara). The breakfasts and requested packed lunches were scrumptious and ample. The village has multiple pubs, restaurants, and a tearoom, all with surprisingly good food. Starting from the village, numerous walking trails and routes offer clean-air exercise and wonderful views.
