We have just spent a wonderful three nights in the two bell tents. Blown away by the warm welcome from Dorothy and family, delicious local gin, fresh firewood daily and barn owls and hares every evening. Covid measures were really sensible- we had access to the bathrooms usually used for the BnB (which isn't open) and a clean little loo with running hot water in the laundry room was open all night for us. Generously provisioned tents with loads of blankets, comfy chairs by the firepit, a little table and chairs for eating at and a top notch BBQ to cook on. The farm is an excellent base for exploring this wonderful part of Northumberland, easy to reach Alnwick and Alnmouth but tucked away in its own land. Truly a special place. We are already planning to come back.

Located in the tranquil Northumbrian countryside, Bilton Barns Farm B&B is a great place to stay. Dorothy and Brian gave us a warm welcome on arrival; made all the better by the provision of tea and home made cakes. Our room, room 1 (the “Girl’s room) was spacious and had a wonderful view over the countryside to Alnmouth and the sea. The bathroom was modern with both a shower and huge bath. The WiFi signal in the room was very good and having the availability of fresh milk from a fridge on the landing was a real bonus.
Breakfast was excellent; local produce and a good choice of menu. Dorothy took care to ensure COVID safety throughout which we appreciated.
One of the bed farmhouse B&Bs we have stayed in and we definitely hope to return.

My husband and I recently spent nearly a week in the self catering 'Emma' cottage and it was great. Dorothy had thought of everything that one might need so that meant it was not necessary to ask for anything. The place was spotless too which set our minds at ease from the outset vis COVID. The area is wonderfully situated for all the lovely towns around and about and lots and lots of great restaurants. Make sure to book before heading out anywhere for food. Dorothy very kindly did this for us when we arrived and also gave us a great guide to the area with a list of restaurants etc. We were so lucky to find this gem of a place (vis Alistair Sawday) and we will definitely be back one day!

We stayed in Catherine's suite which was comfortable and clean, lovely views from the top floor. We weren't able to meet the hosts who must have been very busy with the harvest season. A suggestion would be to provide a map with details of local walks and perhaps a visitor's book to see what other visitors have enjoyed. Walking to the beach from the cottage would involve walking along the long drive and then the road, unless we missed a direct footpath. My car did not enjoy the potholes in the drive.
Would recommend booking restaurants well in advance of your arrival as we failed to book anywhere in the local area at all. School holidays or more tourists than the area can cater for? Lindisfarne was extremely busy with its few pubs either not serving food at all or facing over an hour's wait. Perhaps we were just unlucky but would recommend bringing a picnic as a back-up.
Would highly recommend Billy Shiel's boat trip to the Farne Islands from Seahouses, puffins can reliably be seen from April-July and we were lucky to see a few still around, along with a dolphin and many seabirds.
Alnmouth and Seahouses beaches were lovely, you can walk for miles and we had great weather. Alnwick's Poison Garden and Barter Books are not to be missed!

I cannot recommend this place enough. Everything was not only perfect but brought an extra element of joy and beauty. Such a well designed and superbly executed space. Not a spot of dirt in sight, utensils and cooking equipment everything you need. Bathroom facilities excellent, warm shower with great water pressure.
As for the views, every element of design is aimed at maximising your appreciation of the views. From the position of the hot tub, the hanging basket chair for two, the outdoor table.
Just exquisite.
The hosts are lovely and made us feel welcome. The coffee and tea options are quality and the jar of marshmallows for roasting on the fire pit was a gorgeous touch.

This was our third stay and it did not disappoint! The hosts, Brian & Dorothy, are really special people who do all they can to make you feel welcome & do not interfere with your plans. The cottage is beautifully presented with comfortable furniture including a four poster bed. The bonus is the jacuzzi bath which is very relaxing after a hard day's sightseeing!

Lovely location and we loved that we could see the sea. The cabin was set up for what we needed and the space was utilised perfectly! The shower was amazing, powerful and hot. Hot tub was relaxing and the perfect temperature. We forgot milk and they very kindly brought us some from their home. We did have tractors passing through the fields and down the road all Sunday, which didn't stop until 10pm. It wasn't so bad during the day but when we were relaxing in the hot tub on the evening and craving the peace and tranquil surroundings it was quite frustrating and we found ourselves feeling a bit more annoyed than relaxed! Understanbly it is a working farm, we just weren't expecting it to go on so long and felt it should have been mentioned before booking what time they could be working until. The rest of our stay was beautiful and the local village and beach was pleasant to visit. The sofa inside the cabin is musty and needs a new one. The bed is very comfortable, the lights around it and craftsmanship of the wood is brilliant. One of the days there was 2 hours of grass cutting which again interrupted our peace, perhaps this could be done in between check out and next check in. Overall, we enjoyed our stayed but it definitely has areas to make it even better!

My husband and I stayed here for a 2 day mid week break for our 10th anniversary. Firstly the cabin is absolutely beautiful, it had everything we could need including tea towels, washing up liquid, tea, coffee and even some gorgeous complementary flap jacks!
The cabin is situated in a lovely place, with amazing views over the sea, with only one other cabin close by, although not too close to stop it being private. Hot tub was ready for our arrival, although no bubbles but this did not bother us.
The pictures show exactly how it is, so well decorated, equipped and so cosy!
Close to Alnick centre and with plenty of restaurants and pubs close by, we think this is the perfect couples retreat and will definitely return!

We know Bilton Barns from previous visits to their farmhouse b&b and self catering cottages. B&B is no longer available. Instead the family have just launched two new ‘Shepherds Huts’ called the Lookout and the Bothy. We’re in the Lookout, with the bedroom up on a mezzanine level and open plan living opening out on to a spacious deck with a high table, double cocoon swing seat and private hot tub. What a combination. As the property looks down on Alnmouth and out to sea the amazing views are a given, and it’s secluded. One unique bonus is how quiet it is, with birdsong a constant companion until the sun goes down. Oh, and if it’s chilly light up the fire pit which turns into a bbq too! We love it.
