St Valery B&B is a fantastic boutique B&B situated right in the centre of the lovely village of Alnmouth in Northumberland. Sometimes when we decide we want to go somewhere, and we are not sure which location to stay in, we find the accommodation first and then plan our holiday around that - for us, the accommodation & location is very important....and that is what we did in this case. We found St Valery B&B and planned our holiday from there. Harvey is just the best host ever (friendly, efficient, welcoming) and is assisted very ably by his lovely dog Roxy. Do not be worried about Roxy - he is a lovely dog and whilst we like all animals, we are not huge dog fans BUT Roxy is gorgeous & very professional and does not get under your feet at all, so don't worry about this. The rooms are really nice and the breakfast is fantastic - all freshly cooked to order using local ingredients. The emphasis is definitely on quality here. We also really loved Alnmouth as a location too & we will definitely go back there. There is a fantastic deli in the village called Scotts of Alnmouth which is great for picnics, and there is a good restaurant in the village too, called Bistro 23. All in all, we had a fantastic time here. Thank you!

Hi Rachel - thanks so much for the brilliant review. I'm so glad you loved Alnmouth as much as I do - there's just something so very special about it - it's why I moved! Totally agree with you about Scott's and Bistro 23 - we're lucky to have them both. x

The St. Valery is a fabulous place to stay. Harvey has created stylish yet gloriously comfortable accommodation, and his attention to detail is superb. Our room (St. Benedict) was beautiful, with tea, coffee, fresh milk and cookies, and Elemis toiletries in the bathroom. Breakfast was delicious. We also ate dinner at St. Valery on the first evening, and Harvey is an excellent cook. The Honesty Bar is a lovely touch. Harvey was so welcoming and charming - thank you for the glass of Prosecco on the decking on arrival! And of course, we fell in love with Roxy, Harvey's beautiful hound, instantly... Parking is tricky, but with three turns round the village, we found a space. Alnmouth is lovely and we were lucky enough to see it in sunshine; what a stunning sandy beach. I do not hesitate to recommend St. Valery and hope to return.

Visited here in in October for 3 nights with great expectations after reading the reviews. Our expectations were exceeded by the wonderful reception we received from Harvey and the way he looked after us for the next 3 days
Lovely room with very comfy king size bed, great en-suite with all the best shampoos and gels, but the best part was the dining experience.
We dined with Harvey for one evening and he provided an excellent Lasagne with a very well priced NZ Sav Blanc, but better was the atmosphere in the small dining room where we chatted with the other diners and Harvey.
Breakfast was superb with great avocado and poached eggs,
Harvey also went the extra mile and changed our dinner bookings to better use the limited opening of Alnmouth restaurants
Fantastic we’re coming again David & Heather

My wife and I have spent a couple of fantastic nights at this lovely place right in the heart of Alnmouth. From the moment we were welcomed by Harvey to the time we left he looked after us extremely well. The bedroom we stayed in was sumptuous and the whole place feels like an indulgence. Breakfast was delicious and he even put a fire on for us in the dining area where we could enjoy a glass of wine chatting. Weve already booked another 3 nights in December. Thankyou so very much Harvey, if anyone wants a rest from every day life, a weekend in Alnmouth is highly recommended as the scenery and walks along the beach ar unbelievable.

From the moment we arrived Harvey and his little dog Roxy were the perfect hosts. Beautifully converted victorian house on the main street in Alnmouth, has 4 bedrooms, we stayed in the St Cuthbert Room, which has a lovely en-suite and free standing bath in the room. Harvey cooked a delicious two course evening meal and following a restful nights sleep in the sleigh bed, we went for a run on the beach, followed by a freshly cooked breakfast. We liked it so much we will be returning for 3 nights in October, planning to do a coastline walk and a visit to Edingburgh which is an hour on the train from Alnmouth.

My husband and I stayed at St Valery for 2 nights in ‘St Benedict‘ in late July. Room was excellent.. very comfortable and well-appointed. Bathroom spacious and recently decorated. Harvey was a super host and provided fantastic breakfasts. The B&B is in a great location in the centre of the town near pubs and restaurants. A very relaxing break would thoroughly recommend.

5* in every sense. This unassuming Boutique B & B is an absolute gem of a find. Loved the fact that there were only 6 occupants in the place. Welcomed by Harvey who's a chatty & kind soul who couldn't do enough for us. Everything from the beautiful flower arrangements to the aromatic smells of the "Neon" candles greet you when you walk in to the foyer. The personal touch of a hand written welcome card waiting for you when you arrive in the room was extremely thoughtful too. Our room (St Cuthbert) was bright & airy with a beautifuly placed bath. Large comfy bed with crisp white bedding & a fabulous ensuite with walk in shower. The breakfasts were cooked to perfection & a great way to start the day with a full belly ready for the many walks we did. Loved being greeted by Roxy....a definate fur bonus to anyone's morning greeting, arrival from a hard day's walk or even a personal escort to our bedroom door at night!!! Would definitely recommend & will be booking another trip in the future. Thank you so much! X

Sssssh, this is my secret review! St Valery is the B&B you don't really want to let anyone know about as then they're all be coming!

This is my second visit to Harvey's splendid B&B - once as a solo traveller and this time with my partner and I am still wanting to return again in the Spring.

The rooms are beautiful, tastefully decorated and Harvey has thought of everything in terms - down to fresh coffee, fresh milk and a cafetiere for your room. Each room even has its own Netflix account for catching up on your latest box set and there is an honesty bar if you fancy a G&T before heading out.

You can see Harvey has really worked hard on keeping St Valery tip top. He is a great host as is Roxy, his Jack Russell who I opted to take for walks in the morning along the lovely, albeit windy, Alnmouth beach.

Beds are comfy, breakfast is tasty and bathrooms are beautiful and clean. Key tip is to make sure you book in advance if you're eating in one of the restaurants in Alnmouth in the evening.

There really is nothing not to like. Five stars.

A truly superb experience staying with Harvey (and Roxy) at St Valery.
From our arrival when Harvey quickly assisted carrying luggage to our room, throughout the stay and on leaving we found our host to be most charming. He clearly cares about the experience his guests have whilst staying in his 'home'. The decoration and furnishings are very tasteful and because there are only 3 guest rooms he is able to apply the same care in maintaining them throughout your stay. Breakfast is a lovely experience, well presented with plenty of choice. Our bed was one of the most comfortable we have slept in with a lovely en suite bathroom and a roll top bath also present in the room. We had no doubts about booking for next year and whilst this is not a 'cheap' place to stay, you get what you pay for and St Valery is simply divine.

I booked St Valery for a short break with my boyfriend after viewing the great reviews online. I'm pleased to say this B&B didn't disappoint. Harvey was an incredibly accommodating host and Roxy the dog is just lovely. We stayed in the St Cuthbert room which is beautiful and has one of the comfiest beds I have ever slept in. Breakfast was also delicious and there was a large menu choice given how small and cosy the B&B is. I'd definitely recommend staying to anyone and hope to return in the future!
