Centrally located on the High Street only a few seconds walk from public parking and several pubs, shops and cafes. This quiet, comfortable guest house has clean, interestingly decorated rooms. The cooked-to-order breakfasts were excellent and, after a day's walking in the nearby hills, "Jemima's Kitchen" on the ground floor provided welcome tea and home-made cakes. We will go back.

We stayed here as a family of 4 in April and had the Florinda and Albert rooms which were opposite each other. This was ideal for achieving privacy from/for our 12 and 10 year old daughters. Victoria house feels a very special place to stay ( furnishings and style of rooms are beautiful) but also feels very cosy and welcoming....

We stayed for two nights in one of the rooms in the eaves. Our bathroom was separate but private. The welcome was warm and friendly, the room was clean with a lovely view of the countryside. The bed was comfortable with fine cotton bedding. Breakfast was very high quality. All staff were friendly and very efficient. We loved the warm,...

We were greeted very pleasantly with a complimentary tea and scone, and they catered very well for all dietary requirements. It's a bijou establishment with a lovely bakery and tea rooms. It's extremely popular. The rooms are all different and have their own charm, but each may have a drawback as well as plus points. Our room had a massive...

My mother and I stayed at the Victoria House for two nights for a family funeral. This is about as far as you can get from a standard sterile Holiday-Inn type place. The furniture and décor are totally appropriate for a building of its age. Each room is different, with slightly quirky but understated touches. All very well thought out...

Stayed for two nights last weekend and the whole experience was excellent. A lovely room with lots of thoughtful touches e.g. A glass of sherry to relax with! Breakfast was wonderful and the staff were friendly and so accommodating. Will definitely recommend to friends and will stay again.

My partner's parents booked us into this charming place as part of our Christmas present during the annual festive family get-together. My partner was a little wary, as he tends to have something approaching a phobia of B&Bs; his experience here has completely changed his stance. The hosts are friendly and affable, welcoming, and a sincere credit to the industry....
