When the hair dryer is hard-wired to the wall and ragged carpet is unsuccessfully concealing holes in the floor, you know you've come to a pretty down-on-its-heels inn. This place is remarkably lacking in charm, unlike the other half dozen ins we stayed at during our recent England hike. The saving grace is the pub on the ground floor, which... More

Dear Guest, Thank you for your review of which the comments we have noted. We are a tenancy and therefore we have to earn the money before we can spend on the accommodation and unfortunately this year the kitchen and other matters have taken up our spending kitty. We are not however an inexpensive outlet and our room prices reflect... More

Lovely friendly pub with fantastic views. Good range of Ciders and Ales and very nice home cooked food. Always a warm welcome from staff and customers alike when we come here. Worth chatting to the locals if you want to find out about the best walks and places to visit.

Today we had our lunch at the bottom ship in Porlock Weir after a 10 mile walk along the coastal path from Minehead. I'd just like to pass on our thanks for a lovely meal. The Steak and Ale pie was packed with succulent and tender chucks of steak meat in a rich ale gravy. The chips were perfectly cooked... More

Hi everyone, my name is Rosie (I am a little Yorkie). I told dad he had to write a report letting other dog owners know just how dog friendly The Bottom Ship is ! From the moment we arrived we were all made to feel very welcome (especially me). Our room was a good size with plenty of room for... More

We frequently come here with guests and our latest visit did not disappoint. We sat at a table outside. Our lunch order took some time to arrive but this was peak season. Food was well cooked and presented. Reasonable prices and cheerful service. Another bonus for us is the fact that this is a very dog friendly venue. Dog bowls... More

This is our 3rd stay at the bottom ship, and every time we have had good weather, so always makes a weekend away a bit more enjoyable. The welcome we receive is very good as is the level of service, and the breakfasts are great and freshly cooked. Have stayed in rooms 1 & 3 ( only 3 rooms in... More

We stayed here last weekend taking advantage of the £85 per two nights for two people offer. The room was clean and comfy, not as good as the room we stayed in last time as we didn't have a sea view. The staff are friendly and the cooked breakfast is really good quality - better than many 5 star hotels... More

Right on the South West Coast Path, this is a perfect stopping place for weary walkers. The room we stayed in was very comfortable with a great view and the pub was nice with a good selection on keg and tap. The food was fine and the staff very friendly and accomodating.

Stayed a few nights here, intending to do lots of walking (that bit didn't go to plan!). The staff were friendly and kind. The room spacious and bed super comfortable. A little disappointing that there was no hot water for bath or sink, but there was for electric shower. Breakfasts were delicious everyday, as were evening meals. The homemade burgers... More
