We stayed here for a weekend in July. Just a short drive from Chichester, and from the coast at West Wittering, this is a great. if slightly more expensive, place to stay to explore Sussex and some if its spectacular villages. We received a personal welcome from Charles, the owner, and Franck, the general manager. All the bar and restaurant...

Having read the reviews on this gastro pub, we decided to pack a picnic for our 10 mile hike as we assumed that we would not be made welcome in our hiking boots It was a lovely day and some of our group ate at the pub while the rest of us picnicked in the woods before joining together for...

We stayed at the Oak for two nights to set our tour of small inn hotels in the UK. The location of the Oak was ideal for a quiet country feel, but still having enough in the area to do and visit (Goodwood just down the road). The room we had was directly over the bar area at the front...

Great stay here with friends. The rooms were quiet as the pub is off the main road, and had all the amenities one could wish for, including mini-bar and tea and coffee making facilities. The bathroom looked as though it had been newly refurbished with a smart wood floor and excellent shower. Staff were friendly and helpful. Not the cheapest...

Tucked away down a country lane, with a brilliant garden and a history filled bar....simple, but great fare, well worth a visit.I always have the venison pie, and have never been disappointed!!.The man behind the bar is chatty, and always has a range of beer on tap.

We recently stayed here while attending the horse racing at Goodwood for which it is ideally located. The room was excellent, comfortable and beautifully furnished with a spacious ensuite. Food was very good with a variety of choices. I could easily have eaten here again during our stay in Chichester. Well worth a visit.

The Royal Oak is an ideal place for a quiet weekend break. The cuisine is magnificent, and the rooms adequate. It is well placed for sites of interest. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, and dining room service excellent. Be careful where you park in the car park- there some well fed birds that roost in the trees!!

We much enjoyed staying at the Royal Oak [for a local wedding of friends] and plan to return one day soon hopefully. The welcome, food and service were excellent. Much enjoyed chilling in the cosy bar with the newspaper ; the dinning area was snug too. It's a very friendly place.
