You are always welcome at Hendersyde, our family farm, which lies between the River Tweed and Eden Water, downstream from the delightful market town of Kelso, in The Scottish Borders. If you are looking for a blissfully peaceful holiday cottage, surrounded by walks, wildlife & wonderful views, Hendersyde might just be the place for you! Millsyde is special - a single story, level entry, holiday home, tucked away above The Eden Water. Views look over gently rolling farmland to the nearby woods. Sleeps 6. West Cottage and Southsyde are traditional farm cottages, looking over The Tweed Valley to The Cheviot Hills in Northumberland. They each sleep 4. Fuel, linen, towels & Wi-Fi are included. Well behaved dogs are welcome in West Cottage. Any queries, don't hesitate to get in touch, I will be happy to help. Sue

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed in one of the old two bedroom farm workers’ cottages. It was immaculately clean, well appointed and had all the crockery and utensils we needed. All we had to bring was the food and drink we wanted. Kelso is a few minutes away as is a large supermarket. The owners are discrete but on hand if you need them. It is a working farm and the immediate area is immaculately maintained. We chilled out and enjoyed every second of our stay with our dogs. We shall be returning. A real find.

Room Tip: All you’ll need is a torch as there are no street lights when walking the dogs in the evening....

Impossible to fault any aspect of Millsyde and Sue’s attention to detail. The beds are extremely comfortable, the heating and modern design keep everywhere snug. The kitchen is incredibly well stocked with appliances and above all outside the air is fresh and all you hear is bird song!

We had a lovely few days at Hendersyde with the kids earlier in October. Sue was welcoming and the kids enjoyed playing in the house and garden. It was a very peaceful setting and good if you want a break from urban life for a few days. Handy location for exploring the Borders, we visited Jedburgh, Abbotsford (Walter Scott's home) and Hadrian's Wall.

Highly recommended! We have just returned from our 3rd stay at Hendersyde, the second of 2023! We stayed in Southsyde cottage for the first time and were not disappointed. The uninterrupted views were stunning, the cottage cosy and well equipped. We loved the open fire for lovely cosy evenings. We were blessed with fabulous weather which enabled us to enjoy the many beautiful walks around the farm, wellies or hike boots on. We even saw a kingfisher on Eden Water! We alap enjoyed a wander around Kelso with its independent and high street shops, topped off with a beautiful walk along the Tweed and an absolutely fabulous lunch at The Cobbles. The food at The Cobbles was fantastic - the home made pie so delicious that we even asked if they can be bought to take away! The amazing gelato from Becatelli’s over the road was the perfect end to the meal. When we came up to Hendersyde in April, Sue recommended a trip to Beirhope Alpacas but we ran out of time. This week, however, we booked a Meet-a-Paca session which was brilliant! Lynne was a superb host and our walk was delightful. Finally, our hosts. What can we say. Sue is the perfect host. There when you need her but there’s plenty of privacy. Her recommendations are spot on and her welcome so warm. We are already working out when we can return… thank you, Sue and Hendersyde.

We had a brilliant, warm welcome from Sue, into by far the best-equipped and presented / maintained holiday let we've ever stayed in. Everything was excellent quality, well-appointed and incredibly comfortable. Although it can't be guaranteed, the wildlife was also amazing (hares in the garden!). Highly recommend.

There is a reason we have been staying at Hendersyde for 12 years. Millsyde is ideal for our family, plenty of space inside & out for teenagers!! Added bonus of table tennis table and plenty of family games. The Cottage, as always, was immaculate as was the surrounding gardens. If you want peace and quiet then Millsyde is ideal, the only noise you'll hear is the occasional owl or geese flying over and if you're lucky you might see the combine harvester in the surrounding fields. Lots of local walks, some starting from the farm. Ideal location for local rail link as well, 30 minutes to Tweedbank Station and direct train into Edinburgh. Sue Beck couldn't be more helpful and always has new recommendations for places to visit for all ages. Nothing is too much trouble for Sue. We shall be returning for our 13th year next year.

We had a great stay at West Cottage with our three dogs. We all received a warm welcome and tea tray with home made shortbread from Sue. The cottage is very comfortable with everything you need for a good holiday. Lots of dog walks nearby and further afield, plenty of tearooms - very important - and lovely places to visit. Highly recommended.

Another wonderful stay at West cottage, complete with sprocker spaniel in holiday mood. Nice well equipped cottage on a farm, just outside Kelso. With a good range of shops and pubs nearby. Owner Sue always on hand with advice. Our 10th plus year visiting.

This was our third stay in West Cottage at Hendersyde Farm. West Cottage is a cosy, clean and comfortable, dog-friendly, traditional 2-bedroom farm cottage. It is a step back in time to idyllic childhood summer holidays. The cottage has a lovely enclosed front and side garden, ideal for young children and dogs. It is surrounded by beautiful rolling countryside, with fields and trees visible from all the windows. The location is deeply quiet despite being just a mile or two from Kelso. There are lots of nice, gentle walks directly from the cottage door. All in all, an ideal place to wind down and move into the slow lane.
