Stayed here for two nights with our grandchildren aged 7 and 2. From checking in to checking out nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. The children loved it. The hotel was immaculate, we couldn't fault it in any way. We will certainly use it again if in the area.

As with previous years, it was time for the annual golf outing to the Scottish Borders with the lads, and as before, I’ve been a big fan of the Cross Keys over the years and always go back. Last years trip had shown a phenomenal difference to the look and feel of the lower ground floor and bar areas, and...

We stayed here in September and for the money paid to stay here it was terrible. Our room didn't even have hot water, luckily my parents were at the same hotel so I could actually have a shower. When I complained I was told that the rooms ether have a proper shower or a shower for sprinkling only and I...

As locals we occasionally pop in here with friends to enjoy an amazing breakfast! At £10 pp it is great value. The staff can't do enough and are really friendly. Although the dining room is large it manages to have a warm, intimate atmosphere and a very Scottish feel. I am already looking forward to our next visit!

We went in here on a Saturday night for tea which was very nice. I had the burger which was plenty for me and my partner had the chicken stuffed with black pudding which was very nice. The place itself was very nice on the eyes. The staff were very helpful and friendly and on the ball

A friend stayed at the hotel, I had a Breakfast. Service was average, breakfast commodities good. Buffet style self service. However, my friend, a single female traveller, was not overjoyed with her single room which was small, dated décor and a tiny window, almost a skylight. The lift to the bedrooms is modern and efficient. Reception service - one person...

We first dined at this hotel in 1978 and decided to spend a night there as we travelled through the "Borders" The hotel itself was very comfortable, our room was very spacious. The evening meal was tasty and in our opinion good value for money. Sadly a positive start was ruined when we had to wait 70mins for breakfast. As...

Stayed two nights at this hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room, which was at the front, was huge with all the usual facilities. It was quiet and peaceful. The food in the restaurant was excellent. There was plenty of choice for breakfast and dinner. The food was delicious. I would recommend this hotel for a relaxing...

Stayed overnight on my own while on a training course. Excellent friendly staff in reception and restaurant. Room was huge! Everywhere spotlessly clean and room facilities were great. Some music noise but quiet by 11pm so no problem getting a good night sleep. Breakfast was very good from hot buffet and plenty of cereal, fruit options as well.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Cross Keys Hotel is superbly situated in the heart of Kelso's picturesque French-style cobbled square. The present hotel was built in 1769, but in other forms a Cross Keys Hotel has occupied this site since the earliest days of Scottish coaching inns. Modernised throughout to the very highest standard, the Cross Keys today provides a warm and friendly welcome to its guests and excellent service from attentive, friendly staff. The hotel is an ideal centre for business or pleasure - situated in a peaceful corner of Scotland, yet still within easy reach of Edinburgh and Newcastle. The Cross Keys is run by the Becattelli family who provide that personal touch that makes all the difference to their guests. We take pride in welcoming and looking after our guests. ... more   less
