This is our 2nd time staying at Conifer Lodges and it didn't disappoint again. We should have stayed in the Lady Galloway Lodges in May but this was cancelled due to Covid-19 as the park was closed. Full credit to Solid Luxury who refunded our money the same day so we had confidence in booking again. We then decided to treat ourselves and book the newer and larger Lord Galloway Lodges for our party of 11 for August. We stayed in Lodges 38 and 39 and they are absolutely stunning. The layout and decor are superb with 3 large bedrooms all with en-suites with large shower cubicles. The kitchen is beautiful and well equipped with everything you could need including a washer/dryer. The Bluetooth sound system is a nice touch too. The whole place certainly has the wow factor. We felt however there were a couple of things that could have been improved. The WiFi didn't work in number 39 and was non existent in 38. The staircase was not child friendly. It's made from a very hard wood and each step has a sharp edge. Without access to a stair gate it was a constant worry that one of our kids would injure themselves. It would be safer, and probably look nicer to have continued the lovely carpet down from the landing. The hot tubs are very overlooked and as such, privacy is limited. On the flipside however we were lucky one evening to have 2 stags, including a white one, walk past the hot tub whilst we were sat in it! The only other issue is the steps down to the lodges. There are about 5 shallowish steps that we didn't realise were the only way in. One of our party was disabled and is on crutches. She struggled with the steps and we felt that with a small amount of additional work, a ramp could be incorporated into the entrance making it more accessible for disabled guests. Conifer Lodges is a great location to explore some stunning parts of the country and some places we visited are worthy of mention especially Nun Mill Bay. This secluded little sandy bay about 30 mins away was amazing and the kids loved building sandcastles and exploring the rock pools. We also explored the Galloway Forest Park and had a drive up towards Clatteringshaws. We hoped to feed the goats at the Wild Goat Park car park on the A712 but they were nowhere to be seen. Disappointed and still clutching bags of carrots we tried the Red Deer Range and were amazed by this little place. Plenty of deer and stags that were happy to be hand fed the carrots the goats missed out on. Then a quick drive through the forest on Raiders Road for a picnic at the Otters Pool rest area which is next to a picturesque river (no otters sadly, just a stone carving.) We then stopped at the Glen of the Bar viewpoint on the way back and took in the view from the elevated platform with all of the 'love locks' which was spectacular. So all in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Conifers Lodges again and are already looking to book again next year.

Stayed at number 33 between the 2nd and 6th July, there were 6 of us although this villa sleeps 8. Two upstairs bedrooms, one master with separate shower and freestanding bath, flat view TV which can be watched from the bath. Te king size bed was probably the comfortable bed I've ever slept in. In addition to the bed the sheets and quilt were top quality.
The whole apartment had been thoroughly cleaned and looked immaculate.
it had a great standard of equipment with TV's and free wi fi in all rooms, dishwasher, washing machine etc and loads of fluffy towels.
although we didn't need it there is underfloor heating and radiators upstairs.
I suppose when it's really hot then Air Conditioning may be required but as you are able to open all the windows it wasn't a problem for us.
it seemed as though the park was full and although we had neighbours we didn't hear them.
As a downside there were lots of dogs, now I like dogs but a small percentage of the owners didn't always keep an eye on them and on several occasions we found dogs poo on the grass outside our villa, but as stated that's the owners fault not the dogs.
Would I recommend Connifders ... absolutely and I look forward to returning here again.

Have just returned yesterday from conifer lodges, we went as part of my wife’s 50th birthday celebrations looking for a quiet and relaxing time and that is exactly what we got. We stayed in birch lodge 14 and it was spotless, the kitchen has everything you need including all cleaning requirements, washing liquid, soaps, dishwasher tablets etc. The two bedrooms were lovely decorated and the double bed was really comfy for a good nights sleep. The hot tub was a fantastic addition and it was lovely for sitting in the evening with a glass of wine. The location is fab and only takes about 15 mins walk into Newton Stewart, where there is plentiful choice for your food shopping, takeaways and restaurants. We have already booked to return in August. One last note were the staff, all polite, friendly and helpful. Thanks so much for our stay and see you soon.

We stayed at birch lodge 18 this past weekend.
From the outset the communication was poor from the company, we were not informed that check in was contactless and the keys were in the lodge door. Also preparations were made due to Covid and we were asked in the lodge to strip the beds and put them in the green sacks provided, however no sacks were there.
On to the lodge, good location, however that’s where it ended, the lodge was very tired, flooring was buckled with previous damp, loose light switches in the bedroom, bathroom had been poorly decorated and fitted, loose panels and a mess of silicone to fill in gaps in the wet wall panels.
Then outside, we decided to take the cover off the hot tub, which has a metal bar allowing the folding of the cover, however this immediately broke into 3 pieces upon moving, showing the hot tub which had quite a bit of dirt sitting on the seats and at the bottom, I would like to think these would be cleaned out given the current climate, that clearly wasn’t done, there were loose bricks on the step down to the hot tub, which are easy to trip on, the outside light didn’t work so we were outside in the pitch black when in the hot tub at night, recipe for disaster with the loose bricks.
Overall, we had a good time, more so for the location than the actual lodge, in need of serious updating!
I think the word “luxury” is overestimated here, this was not luxury, more like what it was, a static caravan park with hot tubs
Despite that I would stay again, but would make sure not to just deal with the issues, of which there was quite a few.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review, we appreciate all feedback as this is how we can improve our sites. We are disappointed to hear about the issues you had during your stay, these lodges are going through a renovation programme to improve them, but it had unfortunately been delayed this year due to the pandemic. I wanted to address the issues you experienced during your stay and I have passed this all on to our site manager to evaluate. Our hot tubs are emptied, cleaned out and refilled between every guest stay, as we know how important the cleanliness of these is. We are sorry that a couple items broke during your stay these are not something we can anticipate and we ask all guests to report the damages so we can fix them during your stay. I also want to note that all emails sent out to our guests have all the relevant information attached such as checking in and out, site maps, directions and we are always on hand either by phone or email to help. We are glad that overall you enjoyed your stay with us and I do hope that you will consider staying with us in the future.

We have just returned from conifer lodges and none of us enjoyed our short break to be honest.
We have stayed at numerous holiday parks in Dumfries and galloway over the past 10 years and this has been our least favourite of all.
We stayed in lodge number 12 which is slap bang in the centre of the park, it has hardly any privacy as you are looked over by all the other lodges and in front of reception.
The driveway is barely big enough for a smart car let alone any other car, I had to park at reception as my car didnt fit in and I was scared incase it would be hit by all the passing traffic, but I was lucky to get a space most of the time as staff take up most of the spaces, I have never seen so many workers in one holiday park, it was busier than sauchiehall street with work vans and lorries, etc, certainly not a peaceful retreat!
Our dogs are not used to busy roads and that's what it felt like, a main road.
There was workmen coming back and forth all day which was very annoying installing xmas lights etc, why do this when guests are trying to have a holiday?
On inspecting the beds, there was holes and stains on the mattresses and it certainly wasnt comfortable.
There was no hand soap in the kitchen, only 1 bin bag supplied, 1 toilet roll supplied and no hand sanitizer anywhere on site, even reception?
There is also no hooks in the hot tub area to hang any towels!
There was loud music/noise coming from other lodges on most nights, nothing in handbook stated what time you had to limit noise or turn hot tubs off.
The hot tubs vibrates through the entire lodge, we thought it was going to take off it was so bad, never experienced a lodge like it.
The wifi only worked sometimes but is stated in the book that signal isn't always good, we had a dvd player with no remote and no DVDs, the tv only had freeview but channels were rubbish any other lodge we had stayed in has has sky or firestick or something good watch, there wasnt even a board game or two which is usually provided in most holiday parks.
The hot tub wasnt very safe to get in and out either, there was no handles and steps were very slippy as was the shower cubicle.
Another health and safety issue too, is that microwaves are sitting on top of the fridges, this is very dangerous and we didnt feel safe using it!
Another issue was on arrival we couldnt find lodge 12 at all, it is not mentioned on any of the signs and the receptionist told me theres plenty of signs saying which way, by I can assure you number 12 is NOT stated on any of them.
We all agree it isn't wasnt worth the money and we will not be rushing back as there were too many issues and it's the little things that make a place special and it doesnt compare to other holiday parks in the area!
We may have had a better experience in one of the other lodges but number 12 is definitely not luxurious even though it has been recently renovated.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review, we are disappointed you didn't enjoy your stay at Conifer Lodges. I would like to address some of your concerns regarding your recent stay with us, we like to provide our guests with plenty of information so that you know what to expect when you arrive, included in this information we provide a what to pack which states what we include and what we don't include. We also have site maps on our website for guests to be able to see which lodge they would prefer to book. We have many staff on site to help maintain the area and also to have plenty helping hands for guests if they need anything during their holiday, in regards to the Christmas lights we would only put these up on unoccupied lodges to maintain guest privacy. Prior to arrival and in the lodge we also include information on our hot tubs; the hot tubs stay on for the duration of your stay and we ask guests to keep noise to a minimum after 10pm. We have a mobile number which you can call if guests are disturbing you in the lodge. We apologise about the slippy hot tub and shower, we have non slip mats in reception and would have been happy to provide if you had raised your concerns at the time. We are sorry to hear you won't be returning to stay with us and hope this helps in regards to your concerns.

The lodge (Birch 12) was newly refurbished to a high standard and was so well equipped. It really was outstanding and felt spacious and comfortable. The entrance hall was a useful addition for boots and coats.
Only a couple of small niggles - there wasn't any hooks to hang towels or gowns around the hot tub although other lodges had them and there wasn't a mirror in the second bedroom. The main bedroom had a mirror on the wall that was too high for me to see in and not close to an electric point so nowhere suitable to dry hair. I would have liked a full length mirror. Despite being close to reception we didn't get a decent wifi signal for the whole 6 days.
Due to the time of year we didn't get to stargaze as it barely got dark, think we will need to come back later in the year to do that, and didn't see any wildlife on site although the galloway forest is a short drive away with a wild goat park and red deer range. It would be useful to have information about local walks from the lodges as we ended up taking the car out most days. The road into the lodges was a single track up a hill with no passing places which was a bit scary so we ended up using the entrance through the housing estate.
Newton Stewart was an easy walk by road, I suspect some might cut across the golf course but we went the long way along the road which was just under a mile and the garage on the way could be used to pick up essentials to save walking all the way in. There were lovely places to eat and river walks in Newton Stewart itself. It's a great base for days out such as Portpatrick, Mull of Galloway, Kirkcudbright, Cocoa Bean Company and of course the forest itself.
We couldn't find a takeaway that would deliver to the park which was disappointing.
Despite the negatives (which I have only focused on to help others as I found similar comments useful) it was amazing excellent value for money and highly recommended. Would definitely return.

We have just returned from a 4 night stay with our 7 & 5 year old boys.
Accommodation was spotless and there were lots of little extras included in the kitchen should you forget anything. We discovered 2 wasp hives under our lodge when we arrived but staff were quick to remove them and they didn't impact our stay. Staff were very friendly and helpful and we really couldn't fault the place.
The site is very peaceful with lots of local attractions nearby and variety of shops located on main street. This was our second visit and we will definitely visit again.

Really home from home experience - comfortable with good attention to detail ie plastic glasses for the hot tub. Lodges are cleverly spaced so feel quite separate- room to park 2 cars. Sitting in the hot tub under the stars was amazing. Recommend The Crown and Brew HAHa in Newton Stewart. Had a fab trip to Arran.

Location is up a small hill on the outskirts of Newton Stuart (10 min walk). Lodges vary from older models to newly built, all have private decking with a hot tub. The lodge was well equipped and clean with the hot tub cleaned daily. Very friendly place for dog lovers, limited facilities for kids. Only a couple of niggles, the floor in the lodge was very slippy (tiled) and the Wi-Fi is hopeless.

Stayed for two nights for my birthday.
The lodge no.7 was perfect in every way. Very private with enclosed garden It was immaculate inside and everything supplied that would be needed ,towels toiletries bathrobes. Wow. The decor and furnishings are off very high standard with beautiful artwork throughout the lodge. All Quality furnishings bedding and kitchenware.
The girls went out of their way to make it extra special as it was my birthday.... arrived at the lodge to find it decorated with birthday banners and balloons. Rose petal on the bed. Lovely touch.
They even supplied towel, treats bowl and bags for my wee dog. The Hot tub was up and running ready for us to use immediately.
The hot tub was checked first thing in morning to ensure it was all in working safe order and if it needed cleaned out it would've been done.
The staff are all very polite and helpful and work very very hard to ensure your stay is enjoyable and most importantly safe in these uncertain times. We will definitely be returning to Conifers Lodges.
Keep up the great work and stay safe all.
