Stayed here for a night during the summer, pleasant stay! Room was basic but clean and comfortable. Food in the restaurant was lovely, big portion sizes and friendly staff. Good value for money for what we payed!

Lovely hotel on the main street into town. I asked for a quiet room and got room 12 on the 2nd floor (no lift) which was as requested. At the end of the corridor at the back of the hotel. Delighted with that ! Room was clean and bed comfortable. Shower needs upgraded but water was certainly hot. Staff are... More

Stayed one night only before getting boat to Ireland. My sister, my husband and myself, also our dog, stayed in a family room at the top of the hotel. Very clean and comfortable. My husband and I stayed in a larger room, with en suite, and my sister's, separate, room adjoined ours. My only complaint is that the windows did... More

The Bruce was perfect for a two night stay in between self catering cottage bookings. I booked over the phone and was made to feel like we were valued before we even arrived. We had an upper floor room (2) on request overlooking the main street from the bedroom and the car park from the bathroom. Street noise disturbed us... More

We were booked into the Bruce Hotel by the organisers of the Wigtown Book Festival in which we were taking part. We arrived around 10:30pm and, after checking in, visited the bar. The young man (who was also on reception duty) couldn't have been more welcoming. We were made to feel completely at home. The facilities in the room were... More

We just went for a meal and it was fine. I had the fish pie which was good, my husband had the pork & that was good too, both came with vegetables. We all enjoyed the deserts which included the usual sticky toffee pudding, plus treacle pudding, both excellent. The only comment I have is about the parking, a very... More

Stayed in this hotel with 4 friends for 3 nights during a motorcycle trip. The staff were all friendly but the hotel was a bit tired looking with old decorations and fittings. There were very few staff on duty at any one time and this led to delays checking in/out and ordering drinks at the bar etc. Food was acceptable... More

very good central hotel. First class staff, hotel slightly tired but staff more than made up for this. Would recommend. Dark park only 10 mins drive. Clean comfortable stay with nice bar and good meals. If you fancied a change there is a hotel just a few doors away with good beers selection

One night stop before catching the ferry from Cairnryan to Larne. It is only 30 mins away and they take dogs so convenient place to depart from. Clean comfortable rooms if a little dated and food in restaurant good. With friendly staff it has all you need for a one night stay. There is a 20 minute circular route walkable... More
