Fantastic location we came across by chance whilst driving up Loch Ken, we telephoned and were given the WiFi and toilet codes and asked to help ourselves to a vacant pitch and they would see us the following day (it was a quite Sunday afternoon at the end of season). We pitched up on a vacant Motorhome pitch overlooking the Loch and couldn’t have been closer to the water. On the Monday morning a man (I think the owner) knocked on our door to see if everything was ok and if we needed anything from the shop, as we didn’t and we wanted to stay another night he said we could make payment with the staff the following day - I think he’s a farmer and obviously busy but made sure to come and see we were ok. The site was very well maintained and was a mix of statics, touring pitches and what would be a camping field in season. The location was fabulous and our experience of the owners and staff were excellent We will certainly visit again.

Booked by phone and made welcome on arrival. My wife and I tend to prefer to be alone in our campervan but in some locations it is best to use a site. This site is in a perfect location, well laid out, personal and welcoming, The grounds and facilities are constantly being tended and cleaned. All this was achieved by the staff with no feeling of rules. We were able to launch our kayaks from the site and "explore" several miles to the north and south. Peaceful at night. Nice touches include the information room, the small but very adequate shop. It woudl be great for a family week with kids playing safely.

Myself and my family have been visiting Loch Ken holiday park for 10 years before having kids and now with our two young boys.
We use the loch for our boat, to waterski and to enjoy the fantastic landscape. Our boys adore swimming in the loch and with the fantastic weather we have had it was even more welcome.
The site has such a relaxed atmosphere, you feel safe and know you can always ask if you need anything.
The owner has truly taken our family under his wing (my mam and dad pretty much live here!) and will go to great lengths to make sure you have everything you need.
Him and his staff keep this hidden gem immaculate, monitor arrivals which makes you feel safe and always add special touches to make it fun for the children e.g the lambs at Easter and the Easter egg hunt.
We always love visiting Loch Ken holiday park and will continue to do so many more times in the future.

Camp site is ok! In itself, shower blocks reasonably clean, but limited facilities, ive been to far better camp sites. The staff did what they needed to do, but nothing more. The owner Mungo Bryson is RUDE very unhelpful! He needs to attend some training class's about people skills. Ive just returned home today 5 days earlier than 8d booked because of Mungos horrible demeanour and attitude. I did recieve a full refund of the 5 days i never used, but he certainly wasnt happy about reinbursing me, i told him i would only leave today if i was refunded. I was very happy to leave that site and i wont ever return. Its just a pitty a beautiful setting that its in has such a hostile and rude propriator and owner, nobody i spoke to during my week there had anything good to say about these people. Id advise people to go to other sites in the area for a far better experiance of this lovely area. This site has lots of grass, and dogs arnt allowed off the leads on any of it. Such a shame. Vivit at your own peril, youve been warned.

A lovely setting for a campsite overlooking the Loch. However the owner is a bit of a money grabber for hidden extras. On arriving it was a 20 question interrogation of what he could charge extra for on our booking, he decided that if you want the privilege of bringing your own paddle board that is an extra £10 for two people . Does he own the loch??? Would of been nice if they spent the money on extra cleaning in the small shower block and toilets only seen it get cleaned once as the same mess observed , may be an idea to leave a mop for people to use themselves before entering a grassy shower and toilet block

My husband & I stay at loch ken every year & it never disappoints. We enjoy the freedom it offers for both of us as I enjoy the kayaking whilst my husband likes the fishing. The Loch is so inviting to any swimmer which I took full advantage of. There is also the kite trail which is a lovely walk whilst enjoying the brilliant countryside,a picnic is a must! Mungo and Andy (management team) do a Stirling job of keeping the whole site extremely well maintained & although Mungo keeps a no nonsense approach, which in our view is a positive and it obviously works as we have been coming here for 8/9 years! This beautiful site is not commercialised in any way but is owned by a family who have been trading for many years and have slowly and sympathetically developed the site. Again a very well done to Mungo & Andy.

Just back from a 4 night stay at Loch Ken Holiday Park and I couldn't be happier with our experience. We are a large family group (5 tents, 4 kids and 9 adults) so finding a site that will accommodate us is not the easiest despite us not being a noisy party, so being able to stay here was a good find. The staff are very friendly and are happy to help. The two girls in the shop (I didn't catch their names) we lovely and welcoming and always happy to have a chat. Andy the grounds man was super helpful and a really nice chap. Had a chat with the owner too who was also great and checked in to see how our stay was and have a chat. Honestly don't think I have been to a site where the staff are so helpful and friendly.
The facilities are fantastic and really clean. The showers are great (you do get a quick blast from cold water but the trick is to push the button and quickly shut the door, let that run then get in) although the quick blast doesn't half help wake you up haha!
The play parks for the kids is a great addition and there is plenty of space to play games.
The shop is also very reasonable and not over priced like we have found in other camp sites and has everything you might need.
Plenty of wild life around. We seen Loads of Red kites. The resident ducks are great and will always take a bit of bread which the kids loved (I say kids, I mean me).
I honestly can't recommend this place enough and I am looking forward to visiting again.
Only suggestion my partner had was a small bin next to the shop.

10/10 for this place. Absolutely perfect weekend camping here, facilities are kept beautifully clean with cleaners daily. Grounds are well kept with multiple play areas for children. Camp site is right on the lake with many launch points for paddle boards etc. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The tent field is very good with lots of flat areas overlooking the lake. Drinking Water points are dotted around everywhere so you never have to walk too far. Campfires allowed (as long as the grass isn’t damaged) Everyone is respectful. All round just an amazing experience here and we will definitely be back!

The park is overall an amazing space you are looking straight onto the loch . Very quiet unlike some sites shop shuts kinda early but prices are super cheap. A lot for kids swings by the loch, two park , a fairy trail including fifteen different doors and quizzes about the park to answer to win prizes such as teddies pencils bracelets squishes and more . They have an information centre which is open 24hrs a day which is very helpful. Staff are super friendly and gave us hints with the fairy door hunt . You get the opportunity to book the same caravan the next year . Definitely will be back

What a fantastic location! Large pitches with plenty of space and all so close to the water, which allowed good bathing, padding and launch of kayaks etc available to hire on site if you wish.
Small shop/reception selling a few essentials but not open long hours, no issue really as Castle douglas was a ten min drive away with supermarkets etc.
staff were friendly and helpful.
Toilet/shower facilities were available but get very busy at peak times.. Personally liked the ones off the tent field as you have a self contained cubicle with toilet sink and shower.
Owner was great, personally seeing that all the kids went back to thier tents at 10pm for a settled down night. Highly recommended, would stay again

I didn't notice if there were firepits for hire, I'm afraid. J think you probably have to bring your own but best to contact the park directly. The small shop did stock fire lighters and other basic necessities. There is also a food truck on site Wednesday to Sunday, serving locally sourced artisan food. Kayaks, pedalos, life jackets and fishing rods can be hired.

A bus stops on request right outside the campsite which can take you into Castle Douglas, I’m not sure where else. They’re stagecoach buses so you can probably find more info on their website 🙂
There are more places to choose from in the Castle Douglas area.
