Loch Ken Holiday Park was just perfect. What an amazing spot! We visited for a couple of days in two campers (booking one extra on day two as we were just very chilled). The site is great and has a good mix of static caravans, hard standing pitches for campers and grass for tents. We visited in May just after the Scottish lockdown lifted and there were covid precautions in place, so everything had been considered from that point of view. I spoke with Mungo before booking on the phone and he was open and honest about the covid challenges but was friendly and accommodating! He met us when we arrived and despite the pouring rain helped us settle in, showing us round. We loved our stay and would definitely stay again.
Writing this whilst still here as we are so pleased with our stay ! Park is simply stunning, spotless and so well maintained by friendly and professional staff . Felt incredibly welcome and facilities are great. Great showers after being in the water ! . Proximity to loch was amazing and many happy hours spent on the shore with paddle board and pup ! Great wee shop and you can hire boats , Kayaks etc . Facilities for kids also look great with decent play area and lots of room to run about . About 7 miles from castle Douglas if you fancy a spin and there’s also a great range of shops and restaurants there too. Will absolutely be back, great chance to relax in a stunning setting !
this is such a great place for families. we spent a lovely week there, without any stress or distraction, we just had one job, to enjoy ourselves. we loved it we were safe, in a fun place with very little to worry about or think about. go to Loch Ken with one thought in mind, to relax. the camp site is clean, tidy, and tents are well spaced out and there is a view of the loch which is charming any time of the day we had plenty of opportunity to go in and be on the water, to enjoy and play. All ages are charmed by the place.
What a fantastic location! Large pitches with plenty of space and all so close to the water, which allowed good bathing, padding and launch of kayaks etc available to hire on site if you wish. Small shop/reception selling a few essentials but not open long hours, no issue really as Castle douglas was a ten min drive away with supermarkets etc. staff were friendly and helpful. Toilet/shower facilities were available but get very busy at peak times.. Personally liked the ones off the tent field as you have a self contained cubicle with toilet sink and shower. Owner was great, personally seeing that all the kids went back to thier tents at 10pm for a settled down night. Highly recommended, would stay again
I used to work here pre covid and understand the rules regarding visiting so i was a paid for guest on the site. I couldn't stay the first night due to work commitments and upon my return after work today i was confronted by mungo, the owner, he was rude to me in front of my group of friends and made me feel so unwelcome that i packed up and came home. Luckily for me i live not far from the site. I messaged mungo to tell him i was leaving and why and received no reply. Would've been nice to see my friends who were visiting from down south and felt it was a disappointing way to be treated by my former employer.
