Pros the resort is beautiful and well maintained! Most of employees are very friendly and efficient! I would like to acknowledge Jenarle at Azul he was fantastic at his job. Jenarle went out of his way to accommodate us! Azul restaurant was our favorite! Quality food and Service with Beautiful views. We had coffee delivered to our suite every morning and the service was always quick. Smiley always delivered the coffee with a big smile and brightened our day! Cons The Beach. It is not a swimmable beach! Very Rough! Not Relaxing. We have stayed at other Adults only Resorts but I don’t consider this an adults only resort. You are sharing beach and some restaurants with the Family side. I felt bad for parents at the beach because the children were crying about how rough the water was. I also do not feel this was a 5 star resort I would give it 3.5.

Hotel's Favourite
I would definitely recommend the Sonesta Ocean Point Resort. To be honest, when I first pulled up to the Ocean Point on the little cart from the sister Maho property, I was underwhelmed. For the price, the aesthetics were lacking, but the service and the property made up for it. They were doing some landscaping or ground construction right in front of the gym, which probably lended itself to my first opinion. Chelsea at the front desk was friendly, helpful and funny. I was travelling alone but meeting friends at the resort. Check in was swift and easy and I was immediately taken to my room which was a swim up suite - very well appointed. I did notice a few things lacking in the bathroom - no hooks to hang anything on like towels or robe, and in the shower no place to put your toiletries except a soap dish. Otherwise, the room was spot on. The Edge pool was out favorite place to hang out - Wilky and Joshua doing their best. It was a bit slow, but again, it's the Caribbean and you're on Caribbean Time. Azul Restaurant was my favorite - Jennifer and CeCe made our breakfasts and lunches amazing. Portofino was very good as well with Evangeline and Mat crushing it there. We ventured out and booked the Eco Catamaran around St Maarten with Eagle Tours and that was amazing - Captain Josh, Alezander and Coco were phenomenal. The only draw back was the ride to and from Phillipsburg, they told us it was a 10 minute drive which was actually 40 minutes. The airplane noise with the airport right next door was fun. I was worried, but didn't need to be. There were alot of smaller planes, leer jets and larger commercial jets, we got to the point when we knew what time the larger jets were to arrive and depart. St Maarten is not an inexpensive destination and I was apprehensive about what to expect, especially since Hurricane Irma decimated the island a few years ago. But I was thoroughly impressed with the Ocean Point and would definitely go back and recommend it. The sister property is a family friendly property right next door, but I was extremely glad we were on the adult side - where we had our own pools and restaurants. You can also just go right out front of the Maho resort and be in the heart of Maho Village with alot of shops and restaurants.

We really liked this resort. It was clean and the staff did a great job. The food was good and room service was quick and tasty. It is also in a wonderful location. We were on Maho beach and in a 8-10 minute walking distance to Mullet Bay beach which is not to be missed! I would stay here again 100%.

We stayed here for a few days before a cruise and then 1 night after in the adult section of the resort. The first few days were lovely. We loved the pretend beach pool although the rough concrete floor hurt your feet. We were in the block near the Azul which was quiet. Room had a dodgy aircon though so they provided a unit fed through patio door and gave us a credit. The second stay we were in a fabulous suite in another block but it was sooo noisy. Music until 430am then more music from 630am. Loud entertainer shouting through mic until 1130pm. Not relaxing and not recommended. No cafe in adult section a disappointment as you have to walk to other side to get take out. No tea in room only coffee machine. The highlight is the Azul restaurant. The food is fabulous and the staff even more so. The ambience and view lovely. Really friendly and accommodating. I feel this is due to Shingai of F&B Services. She is soo friendly and smiley and remembered us from our previous stay. Her staff copy her lead and are very attentive. Sadly the other side of the hotel seem unhappy.

Dear valued guest, Thank you for taking the time to submit your review. We regret to learn that we have missed the mark in meeting some of your expectations. We are extremely sorry that the sounds deprived you from having a restful night. Unfortunately, these sounds come from the entertainment locations in the vicinity, as a resort we do the utmost to control the noise levels. It was a pleasure to have you as our guest, and we look forward to welcoming you back soon when visiting St. Maarten.

There were 16 of us traveling for a bachelorette party months before we requested all of us to be together when we got to the hotel they never honored our request even though they told us we were flagged to be together. Everyone of the employees that work there were miserable. No one wants to help you thank goodness we had a Butler Rajeent and Alex who made our trip better than it would’ve been. There is no beach on the resort. You have to sit up at a makeshift beach and then walk down to the beach where you don’t get any service there so you die of thirst. we wanted it up staying at the pool where we had a miserable bartender call Cheryl. She was nasty. And she counting how many people we were cause we were getting drinks for each other. Meanwhile we paid for this she was too lazy to replenish ice tea, mint or grey goose vodka. Just a miserable lady who hates tourists. we come away to go on vacation. We’re all happy and we have to deal with nasty people, they never clean the pool and now the manager will read this and say I’m sorry that we didn’t meet your expectations because they really do not care. Some of the girls had no air-conditioning in the room and had to get a portable air conditioning in there. Some of the girls called for room service wanted a few items and were told they weren’t allowed to order more than 2. Again thank God we had butlers to help us There are plenty of other nice places on the island to visit do not stay at the Sonesta Oceanpoint. The only restaurant that was good and workers were pleasant was the AZUL we went offsite most nights to eat. Wasted money and it wasn’t cheap.

I will start by saying we will probably never find a breakfast place as beautiful as this one. We loved that the adult restaurants were all outdoors. Azul was excellent every time. Fitness center is nice. Reasons for four stars instead of five……were there is no place to get coffee in the adult section. When I mentioned it to them, they said you can make it in your room. No thank you. You can go over to the family buffet and they will get you a carry out coffee. The noise level and chaos in there is not worth it. As soon as I walked in there, I saw a guy grabbing food with his hands. 🤮 The norovirus just went through that resort. I don’t need those germs. They offer pastries in the morning in the adult lobby but no coffee. So strange. But again just a minor issue. Other issue was there are no bathrooms near the pools. You have to either go in the convention center or down in the restaurant below the pool. Just seemed so odd. There are not a lot of lunch options without going to the family side. They offer a barbecue around the pool every other day but it doesn’t start until 3 o’clock. Food was really good but why not started earlier? WiFi was spotty and slow. We were not crazy about the closet set up in the rooms. The dresser is in the closet and only one person can be in the closet area at one time. Again, minor. I wish they would’ve had paddle boards. The bay is definitely calm enough for that Other than that the pool area is beautiful, didn’t have to fight for chairs. Cannot say enough about the staff, everybody was so friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the airplanes every day, and it did not get old. Loved to have the option to go to casino across the street. Walked to Pickleball one day. Did a rhino boat tour and swam with turtles. So fun. Walked down the beach to the sunset beach bar near the resort Food is not the greatest, but the views were great. Best mango daiquiri I have ever had. We enjoyed a couples beach massage from the resort. Mullet bay is short walk and nice to see. Would we go back to this resort? Absolutely!!!

Stayed at Sonesta Ocean Point for a week (half solo and other half with family) and I overall really enjoyed my stay! The check in process was easy, and the facilities are well kept. My only complaint is that some of the staff seem to need a refresher on customer service and how to give quality assistance as a few people I interacted with didn’t seem to want to work. However, I have nothing but a raving review for other staff at the resort. The staff at Azul and the bartender at Portofino are absolutely wonderful and even visiting solo make you feel so comfortable. Simone at the bar in the reception and both ladies at the poolside bar were also incredible and so sweet. Special thanks to Dane who made me feel really welcomed and took extra care of me during my stay to have it be as relaxing as possible! From reserving spots by the pool, writing out restaurant and excursion recommendations, having champagne and treats set up in the room and checking in when I poolside to ensure I didn’t need anything. His exceptional service, care and attentiveness will be a feat to match! I cannot wait to come back and *highly* recommend Sonesta Ocean Point as a future destination for couples, families or singles who want to have a relax oasis.

The good news - my traveling companion and I didn't catch the norovirus that circulated throughout the resort recently. At check in, they hand you a pamphlet warning you that norovirus is prevalent, with reminders to wash hands, use sanitizer, etc. It I had known this was an issue before arriving, I would have cancelled. Pros: Good location if you're fascinated with airplanes like I am. Watching planes take off and land all day was a cool feature of the property. If you're not an aviation geek, this will get old fast. The views from the property are beautiful (especially Azul restaurant). You're close to nearby beaches to walk to. We loved Azul restaurant for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner, and found the staff at the pool by Azul to be the friendliest and they made the best drinks! It's super close to the airport, so a great option for a quick trip. We also loved receiving a massage in their oceanfront cabana - the massage was one of the best i've ever had. Cons: Room is basic, and needs to be renovated. It feels more like a HGI or mid-tiered property than an "ultra-luxury all suite hotel" it advertises on its website. The service was inconsistent, and below expectations of a luxury resort. There's no concierge or bellhop, and any time we'd ask the front desk staff a question, they acted like we were inconveniencing them. They charged us more for our massage than was advertised on their own website, and despite me showing it to them at checkout, they refused to honor their own pricing (that is 2023 pricing they said). Tips: If you stay here, request a room on floors 3 or higher, and furthest away from the main entrance (closest to Azul restaurant). These are more private and have the best views. I recommend Azul for all your meals; the main restaurant by the pool is shared with Maho Beach guests and was extremely busy all the time. I recommend the Edge Pool over the Point if you're looking for a more relaxing and quite space, but it doesn't have the live music or people watching of the Point pool.

I don’t even know where to begin. From the most unfriendly staff or the food. There were a handful of staff that made us feel welcome. Most made us feel as if we were intruding on their time. We have been to many islands and Never have we come across this. Very rude. Will never return here nor will I recommend. As far as the rooms…cold water, showers that flooded, broken safe. Call down to the front desk, they’ll get to it….eventually! I don’t even understand how their rating is almost 5 stars! Everybody that we spoke to had the same complaints, especially about the friendliness of the staff, which was so lacking! Service with a smile works be so nice. Didn’t want to dig into my pocket for even the smallest tip. Grrrrrrrr!

My husband and I recently returned from celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary at Sonesta Ocean Point. From start to finish everything was great! I contacted the resort prior to our arrival to inquire about what they offered for special occasions as well as to inquire about accommodating food allergies. My interaction with Maggi at the Front Desk was pleasant and she assured me our room would be decorated upon arrival. Maggi also immediately sent an email to the food and beverage team to make them aware of all my food allergies. It was arranged for me to meet with the Head Chef upon check-in. Check-in was smooth with a welcome drink and a cold towel to cool us down. The Head Chef did come and meet me and he prepared my lunch which was delicious! Prior to my arrival I also had inquiries regarding the spa and Destinee and Jardin were very helpful and kind. During our stay we had the couples massage on the gazebo, which I highly recommend! My husband also had the Men’s Facial and I had the Lavender and Honey wrap which was heavenly! Anna and Lisa provided our services and they were excellent!! In regard to the virus that was going on at the resort we were not impacted by it. The resort has protocols in place to mitigate the guests from getting sick. Practice good hand hygiene and you will be fine. I would like to thank the amazing staff at Azul for going out of their way to ensure all my food allergies were accommodated at each meal. Thank you Max, Melissa, and Shanghai (I apologize if I misspelled your names). Everyone we encountered at the resort was friendly and greeted us. The resort is beautiful and has breathtaking views!! If you’re looking for a calm & beautiful getaway with nice entertainment this is a perfect choice!
