We booked two single rooms for our son and friend who were cycling the NC500. They were midged to within an inch of packing in the ride. To top it all, our son seemed to have trodden in a nest of tics and had been trying to remove dozens the days before. They were desperate for a good night's sleep.
We were grateful for the friendly welcome we received and we were only booking on their behalf. Our son and friend were so grateful, they said you went above and beyond with your welcome. They felt really comfortable in spotlessly clean, lovely rooms with gorgeous views and their breakfast was out of this world. Thank you so much for looking after them. We realise in these times how much harder it is for you running a b&b-they felt totally safe. They completed their tour thanks to your very warm hospitality.

Two friends and I called up late in the afternoon desperate for a place to avoid camping with midges and the hosts at Tamarin kindly stayed up to let us in and even went out of their way and cooked the food we brought for supper.

The BnB is at the top of a hill with stunning views over the water and Ullapool. It’s modern, clean, spacious and has everything required. The hosts were very welcoming and charming and have lived in the area for 40 years so know everything they need to make for a perfect stay, including a wonderful cooked breakfast in the morning!

I cannot think of anything negative to say about my night there.

Lovely room with good views, (we were upstairs). Really nice to have a balcony. Room well equipped with everything you could want, nice to have bottled water provided. The breakfast was delicious, especially enjoyed the scrambled egg with hot smoked salmon. Richard and Val are friendly and happy to chat, really made us feel at home. Thank you.

Tamarin B&B is a real find. I was there for a couple of days exploration up to the far North-West with my 14 year-old son this time. As a veteran of B&Bs in many parts of the world, this is the best I have ever stayed in by a long way. Purpose built, with generous-sized rooms (I have stayed twice so far), it has none of the 'compromise' of so many house-conversion guest houses. The rooms are, without question, what you would expect to find in a four-star hotel - modern styling, space, underfloor heating, very tasteful, relaxing layout and decor. It has a delightful position with truly commanding views across, up and down Loch Broome. Nothing is too much trouble for the hosts and breakfasts are just great. If you are contemplating a break or stopover anywhere within 50 miles of Ullapool, this is your place.

We came to Ulanpool at night and had no idea where we gonna stay. Tried out a few places, but they were overpriced and unattractive. And then we drove to Tamarin Lodge and for the same price we have gotten double bed room consisted of actually two separated rooms with bathroom in the middle. Quite a luxury. Everything were clean and fresh. Only in the morning we could see the stunning view out of the window, perfect breakfast with locally produced eggs(hens were walking right in front of the house). Sad that we had only stayed one night, the place is quiet and incredibly beautiful. I wish I'll be back there one day.

We stayed for one night, but would love to have stayed for more. The views were amazing and the breakfast was superb. The rooms are clean and the bed was probably the best I have slept in for a year! Big thanks to Richard and Val for being such welcoming and warm hosts.

We don't often stay in BnBs as it can be a bit scary at times but this establishment had great reviews on TA and so we thought we would give it a go.

The accommodation is excellent, very high quality fixtures and fittings, very warm welcome from the owners and fantastic views over loch Broom - (see pictures). Our downstairs room had a seperate dressing room and large en-suite. This was a proper en-suite, not a chunk of the room that had been divided off.

Breakfast was first class with a wide selection of fruit and a delicious cooked breakfast.

Definitely worth a visit!

During a three-week trip in May-June, covering a good portion of Scotland, we stayed in numerous very nice B&Bs. Tamarin was, by a good measure, the best of the lot. Sadly, our schedule permitted only one night here enroute to the Outer Hebrides, but the Ullapool area and Tamarin clearly merit a much longer and in-depth visit. Everything about Tamarin is absolutely first class. The house is relatively new and very modern, set up a steep hillside. The guest rooms all have the most spectacular views across Loch Broom to the mountains beyond through huge windows. Everything about the place is very high-end. The rooms are extremely spacious, the furnishings new, elegant and of very high quality, and you will not have experienced a more luxurious ensuite bath unless you usually stay at the Ritz. One could go on and on, but there is no need. Suffice it to say that you will have a very difficult time finding a better B&B in Scotland or anywhere else. Val and Richard are excellent hosts and the breakfast (with many choices) was delicious and elegantly presented. I cannot imagine anyone not being thrilled with Tamarin B&B.
