Detailed Reviews

My husband and I completed the NC500 back in October 2018 and when we got engaged later that year we immediately knew we wanted to Honeymoon in the Highlands. We found Tigh Na Mara and booked it almost immediately, it just looked so beautiful.
When we arrived we found the chalet to be better than we had expected. It is more spacious than I appreciated and it is very, very well equipped with good quality items at that.
We love watching the bay reveal it's beauty every morning and I can assure you the view never gets old.
It is very relaxing in the chalet and a great base for wee drives and day trips. As you look out towards the bay you feel you are a million miles away from civilisation, however the main road is just behind you and Ullapool is a mere 3 to 4 miles away with some lovely places to eat. If here, try the Seafood Shack... it's so good. The fresh seafood all around is such a wonderful treat.
We just love it here and already agree (half way through our stay) that we'd like to come here again.
Simply superb.

Fantastic newly built chalet with an uninterrupted view across Ardmair Bay and the Summer Isles. Modern, warm, well equipped with a fantastic shower room. Everything is just luxurious and to an extremely high spec. Ideal relaxing home from home for 2 people. Seeing is believing

I pretty much always do self-catering as it's conducive to photography where you don't really the opportunities control your day, and not eating times :)
I've been lucky enough to stay on Loch Ness, Oban and Skye on previous trips to Scotland and although I'd been further north than Ullapool I wanted to use this as a base.
Ardmair chalets are a decent size for two adults (it will accommodate 4), with a good size kitchen and lounge in preference to the bedrooms which are sufficient for a family, but might be a squeeze for 4 adults.
The wooden construction was nice, and caused no problems in terms of cold, damp or wind - the heating was reasonably efficient, capable of warming the chalet in an hour or so. TV has HDMI so we could plug in a laptop and watch movies, and there is a good size table to eat at, and two couches as well. I particularly like the front window - which is large - about 12" wide, and about the same height, so you get lashings of light when you open the curtains. The views are also pretty spectacular, as you overlook the harbour of the Loch where the fishermen launch from.
Bathroom is functional - I prefer showers to baths so no worries there, and even though it was electric it still had a good enough flow to be invigorating.
The only slight downside is the wifi is a little weak for the chalets and strangely works on a token basis which is obtained from reception and cannot be shared amongst devices (I guess they're worried about the bandwidth being used). Smartphones and tablets didnt seem to pick up the signal sufficient to connect, laptops faired better but the signal was a little temperamental. Alas I need signal to keep an eye on work, but if this is no bother for you, then the chalets would be good.
It was quite packed with caravans on the weekend when we arrived, but as you would expect, it was still peaceful and relaxing.

Hi Stuart Thanks for the review, however, I believe you were staying at Ardmair Point Caravan Park. We are Ardmair Cottages and Chalets. All our properties have unlimited WIFI which is free. We have our properties located directly above the main stretch of the beach and on the hillside, dotted about Ardmair well back of the road from the campsite. Many thanks Ardmair Bay Cottages and Chalets

We stayed in one of the lodges. Fantastic views and peaceful. The lodge was comfortable and had adequate mod cons. Wifi didn't work throughout our visit, which was frustrating and annoying. Minimal of mobile reception as well.

Fabulous cottage right on the beach, with beautiful views out towards the Summer Isles, and some amazing sunsets. The kitchen is well equipped, everywhere is warm and comfortable, and very clean. Definitely plan to return.

A stunning location with outstanding views. Surrounded by nature in the bay and on land itself. Dal-Na-Mara was near perfect, the accomodation was clean and well kept with everything you need. The beds were comfortable and the towels were soft and fluffy. Simply a beautiful place to stay.

We had the most amazing week staying here in October. The weather was great, dry and sunny everyday, so we would open the curtains to blue sky and a simply beautiful view of the boats on the water right outside our chalet every morning. The chalet was very clean and fully equipped with everything we needed. The area is full of wonderful beaches and walks within driving distance. Loved it so much we are booking again for next year. Fingers crossed for the same weather! 😁

What a beautiful place to stay nestled in the cliff overlooking the bay. Julian and John have thought of everything. The addition of binoculars to watch the wildlife in the bay was a great idea and we spent many happy hours watching an otter feeding and divers dipping. Extremely comfortable and well equipped the perfect place to relax and recharge we have had a wonderful stay

So comfortable, warm, well equipped with a breathtaking view of Ardmair Bay. The conservatory was our favourite feature!
Such a wonderful location to explore some of the most dramatic and stunning scenery in the world.

Croft Cottage was fabulous. The setting is great set back from the road. Great for watching the super cars on the North 500! Views to the Summer Isles across the sea gorgeous. But the cottage ... great quality appliances and kitchenware, comfy beds, loads of plates, glasses, sharp knives. And oh joy the thoughtfulness of dishwasher and washing tabs, kitchen roll, napkins, washing up liquid etc. Stove is fab and quality as well as the supply of logs - well done. Conservatory is great - more comfy seating would be good. The Ikea chair in the photos is so great but not here 😕 so a couple of those would be super. All round perfect relaxing break from very busy work.

"I believe there are 2 types of Chalets, the newer pair certainly looked nicer (more glass) - the website does show these. I think we were in Chalet 4 which is perhaps not quite as close to the reception if wi-fi is important to you, but I think there is little in it...."Read full review
