Harbour House hotel garners praise for its warm service, complete with friendly staff and exceptional breakfasts, making guests feel right at home. While some reviewers point out the rooms might be on the smaller side, the consensus is that they are comfortable, clean, and offer delightful views.
The hotel's location is celebrated for its scenic beauty and proximity to local attractions, and the amenities, including a cozy residents' lounge, contribute to the sense of value that many travelers appreciate. Despite lacking a bar, the overall atmosphere and cleanliness are repeatedly commended.

Detailed Reviews
Overall a very good experience. The staff on the front desk were very welcoming and explained everything well. The room was very clean and equipped with kettle, water, teabags, coffee etc. We had a good view of the harbour and was in good walking distance of the town. Breakfast was well organised with social distancing maintained and staff wearing masks and gloves. My only complaints were some towels were removed after our first night and not replaced, so we had to share the remaining 1 towel. The other problem was the room was too hot and no air conditioning, which made it difficult to sleep. I accept that this is only likely to happen if temperatures outside are high, which probably doesn’t happen too often. It’s just something to be aware of.

We stayed here while spending a couple of weeks touring the Highlands and doing the NC500 in September and wanted a break from our camper for a night, the hotel is in a very good location on the loch side and is only a 5-10 minute walk to the town centre. The reception and communal area's of the hotel are bright, very well furnished and spotlessly clean, all of the staff we encountered were extremely pleasant, friendly and helpful with good recommendations for the area. Our room was small but also nicely furnished and had a very comfortable bed, both the room and bathroom were spotlessly clean, the room had a good view of the loch and garden. The breakfast in the hotel offered an excellent choice of very good quality hot and cold items. I can only finish this review by saying that we thoroughly enjoyed our one night here and can definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Ullapool, if we re-visit this hotel will be our first choice.

We came to Harbour House as part of our NC500 road trip. (If you're planning on doing this trip, I recommend booking accommodation early, as good quality hotels get snapped up.)
Harbour House is on the road into town when you are driving in from Inverness. We had a warm welcome from the owner - the whisky and shortbread on arrival was a lovely touch. Our room was quite small, but warm and comfortable. The breakfast the following morning was fantastic. Travelling during Covid restrictions, we knew there would be compromises but Harbour House offered the most delicious food, in a safe Covid compliant setting.
The best thing about Harbour House is the location. The garden/loch view is stunning - you'll be hard pushed to find prettier vistas anywhere in the world, even at hotels ten times the price. Walking down to the shore and then into town across the pebble beach for a fish and supper at sunset was one of the nicest moments of our trip. Before we checked into HH, we found staff in a couple of Ullapool shops rather rude and unwelcoming (especially in the West Coast deli and Seafood Shack) which left a bitter taste in the mouth. But our one night stay at Harbour House made us forget about all that.

Stayed for a single night - great hotel situated close to the centre, 5 min walk
Hotel was very clean and well maintained. We were made very welcome by the owners, who have gone to great effort to ensure the safe surroundings. we were able to sit the large lounge area during the evening with our own drinks, looking over the loch with fantastic views. breakfast was great order and waiter service.

We stayed here for 2 nights on our way onto the Outer Hebrides. Harbour House is in a brilliant location, on the main road into Ullapool and just a 5-10 min walk into the village. The lady who welcomed us was lovely and so chatty, gave us great tips about what to do in the area and gave us sherry/whisky and shortbread on arrival! It was honestly the best welcome we have ever received at a hotel! Room was very comfortable and immaculate. The breakfast was honestly amazing - really good quality and well done. We paid extra for a view of Loch Broom which was definitely worth it, the house has a great lookout over the loch.

We stayed at Harbour House as part of the NC500 we travelled for 10 days and I would say this is my favourite place that we stayed.
The service was fantastic on arrival we where offered a wee dram or a cherry along with homemade shortbread.. The owner was lovely and made great conversation on arrival. It was a really lovely welcome.
The room was beautiful the hotel rooms are modern and fresh and spotlessly clean and the view was stunning. Lovely sized room and bathroom with storage for luggage and nice locally produced toiletries in the bathroom.
The location was fanatic walking distance to the main town lots of local pubs and restraints and it was great that the Harbour House sent us recommendations in advance of our stay.
It was a really nice touch that there is a room that guests can use with a lovely view with glasses and ice where you can enjoy a nice drink in a relaxed environment.
I look forward to visiting here again in the future and highly recommend this place :)

We stayed here in mid-September on a cycling trip around the NC500 route.
Good - Spotless comfortable room with cosy bed and good selection of hot drinks and biscuits.
Not so good - arriving cold and wet I really wanted a hot powerful shower to warm me up. In the words of my ex the shower was "like a wee boy peeing". Tepid and weak. It may have been because we arrived around 18.30 and other guests had used the hot water. The afore mentioned drinks helped recompense.
The sink in the small bathroom was just about big enough to wash my hands and brush my teeth.
Room was "compact and bijou".

This place could not have been better located as it’s just on the edge of the town with a less than 10 minute walk to the harbour. Family owned and run they make every effort to be friendly and helpful - well, why wouldn’t they?
The room we had was spacious and well appointed as was the bathroom, the bed was comfortable and everything was squeaky clean plus we had a marvellous view of the loch and harbour so could watch the Stornoway ferry chugging it’s way out.
Breakfast was fine, there were various hot options for those not wanting another full Highland and seeing one or two of them they appeared to be quite generous portions, the Highland kept us going until dinner time, OK, we did have a scone and coffee mid-afternoon but that doesn't count.
All in all a first-rate stay and I would happily return.

Harbour House is one of the best run hotels we can remember staying in. Everything runs like clockwork.
The rooms are spotlessly clean with well thought through storage.
We had a very warm welcome from Alan and his colleagues, including cooling our beers in the fridge & drying our wetsuits in their drying room!
Breakfast was fantastic.
Ample free parking on site.
The whole team are friendly and quite rightly proud of their hotel.

Wow is all I can say. We booked the new lodge for one night during our nc500 trip. Where to start! It blew us away. It was immaculate. Beautiful. Modern. We absolutely loved it so much. The beds are so big and super comfy. The room is just gorgeous and the views are insane. We kept the curtains open all night. We would love to come back and stay. Free parking free fast WiFi. Highland soap co shower gels in bathroom were amazing, so much so we had to go visit the shop to buy some. We were given a shot of whiskey on check in and some hime made short bread which was delicious. The breakfast included in the rate was one of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had. Amazing.
