Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Such a wonderful holiday in your stunning home in Stein . If you are after a holiday truly away from it - except for great food dark skies and being surrounded by nature, then the Boat house is your solution. Fabulous artwork and fascinating library - unique and wonderful . Kitchen has everything and washing and drying facilities are all top notch which was handy for our rather wet week ! But we barely noticed as the house was warm and we were surrounded by colour tradition and comfort - so cleverly and sympathetically designed . The most comfortable beds too . And otters scampering along the sea wall ! What an unimaginable treat for me x Thankyou for buying the boat house and making it your own so that we can enjoy such a remarkable location x I’ll be back for sure -

I almost hesitate to write this review...because I know when the word is out, the Boathouse will always be booked! My husband, myself and another couple had the most magical week's stay at the Lochbay Boathouse. This place is a home, rather than just a rental. It is comfortable, quirky, and has beautiful artwork. Every book you could think of about Skye. The lounge was roomy and comfortable. We enjoyed fires every night! The kitchen was well stocked with everything you could need. We did a fair amount of cooking. I think a dishwasher would be the only mod-con missing. The bathrooms have been updated and are very nice. Especially the family one. Our only wish was there was a bathtub! The location is outstanding. Views in every direction that are constantly changing. It is very close to Stein's village center. The drive down to the house is very steep and a little scary the first time down, but we had no troubles with it. I can't wait to book our next visit to this place!

Hi Becky, Just home from Lochbay. The changes you have made are fantastic. The showers are superb; so powerful and hot. Kitchen crockery is beautiful. The prints and paintings are fabulous. The otter in bedroom is stunning. Whole home is welcoming and like a Big Hug. We were so delighted to be there together. No need for TV or radio just great surroundings and chatting with friends. Fun with board games too. All our closest friends sharing our joy of Lochbay Boathouse. We walked, talked and went lots of walks. Weather was perfect. Meals at Stein Inn were delicious and boathouse was immaculate. Left a wee card for Skye. Thank you for letting us share our memories of Tom and make many new memories with friends. Roved Island all week in glorious weather. Got scary road on Raasay and spent time on Coral Beach and explored Elgol and Neist Point. We left Lochbay Boathouse with heavy hearts this morning and look forward to next time. Many thanks. Norma x

Wonderful house with amazing views! 2 bathrooms, brand new. 1 bedroom is on open mezzanine, with sitting area, with again beautiful views , breathtaking sunsets. 1 bedroom has its own bathroom en-suite. Perfect cosy open plan kitchen with big table. Walking distance to Stein, with oldest Inn on Skye, with simple, good food and a michelinstar restaurant. Dunvegan ( 10 min, drive) is a good place for groceries and also some restaurants . Already longing to revisit again .

We had looked at the Boathouse during previous trips to Stein and thought it would be a great place to stay, and it certainly was! The location is brilliant, first class pub and restaurant nearby and the Boathouse has everything you need. It is cosy with bags of style. Great place to come back to after a days walking or sightseeing. I can recommend staying here.
