Mint Croft is a rare find, two beautifully restored crofters’ cottages with stunning sea views on the Isle of Skye. A luxury escape from modern life. Our one-bedroom cottages are designed for couples looking to get away from it all. Set in the stunning and remote coastal village of Geary, yet only ten minutes drive from Skye's only Michelin star restaurant and the island's oldest pub.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This restored cottage is immaculately clean, beautifully decorated, and super cozy. I loved sitting in the window seat upstairs or at the table out front and reading while enjoying the garden and sea views. This is truly a property to be enjoyed as a destination, rather than just a place to rest your head at night, and I can’t wait for a return visit. Next time, I hope to stay longer and make better use of the kitchen, take walks from the cottage (and more hikes around Skye in general), and eat at more of the excellent (and Michelin-starred) restaurants within driving distance.

My husband and I stayed in the Blackhouse cottage for a weekend in October, and it gave us the a genuine experience we dreamed on Skye. Our hosts made arrival and departure easy and contactless. The cottage is cozy and well equipped with all of the amenities you need: a fully functional kitchen, a spacious bathroom complete with heated floors, and the loft bedroom holding the best view of the sea. We explored Skye each day and loved returning to this little home. Be mindful that depending on what part of the island you are on at the end of the day, it can take a good 1-1.5 hrs to drive back in the dark. We didn’t mind a little exploration though!

Far off the beaten track, the Black House is a touch of luxury, The carefully selected decor in the house really did make the stay both comfortable and memorable.and the view from the bedroom is just stunning. The quality of the kitchen made self-catering so easy. Make sure you come provisioned as it's a long long way to the nearest shop. Fresh eggs and cakes are a short walk to the nearest honesty box. Shaz (the owner) was so friendly and helpful, and it was lovely to meet her on our last day.

Our week in the Crofter's Cottage at Mint Croft was the dream of a lifetime. The cottage is drop-dead gorgeous, but the kind of gorgeous that encourages calm and relaxation. The colors, the textures, the art--every detail sets the most peaceful of tones. The view over the loch are just spectacular, and different moment to moment as the weather shifts and changes. The cottage featured a beautifully-equipped kitchen that made self catering great fun, a comfortable bed, and top-quality linens--especially the serviettes! We can't wait to return for more time in this spectacular corner of the world.

We’ve just returned from a five day/ four night break at the Black House , Mint Croft on the glorious Isle of Skye. The hosts Shaz and Ali would not claim to have created the beautiful surroundings ,countryside, water, walks and views but what they have created is the most comfortable, luxurious place to the highest standards. We are fortunate to have traveled extensively and this place sits amongst the very best . Huge comfy bedroom with stunning views ,beautifully furnished lounge, kitchen and bathroom ,lovely and warm, wonderful views and wildlife ( sea eagle, seals ,dolphins) A good selection of restaurants, pubs and shops locally ( 15mins drive) Ten stars , we shall definitely return

We were expecting extraordinary but what we got was very ordinary. Views are spectacular but the whole island is truly beautiful. You are expected to the leave the cottage clean (including stripping the bed) or you are charged a cleaning fee. There are no essentials in the cottage, no store cupboard items at all. At these prices, you would expect a small welcome pack. Make sure to pick up supplies in Portree as the cottage is very remote. The cottage is comfortable but not as luxuries as reviewed.

A superbly equipped Croft on the very most northern point of the western side of Skye. Situated in splendid isolation with spectacular views over the loch the Croft has been lovingly prepared with high end spec. A really beautiful venue and somewhere I cannot recommend highly enough for a quiet relaxing break. Also big shout out To the best fresh lobby at the Stein Inn and a superb fine dining experience at Edinbane Lodge.

Places like this are hard to find - beautifully judged spaces with stunning views, emperor bed, proper kitchen, plenty of places to relax and underfloor heating. Plus a huge bath with all the trimmings. An absolute gem in a magical location.

We have just returned from a 3 night stay at the Blackhouse. Having read a number of previous reviews I have to concur with each one - it is a fantastic place to stay. The view, particularly from the upstairs sitting area, is stunning. We were lucky to be able to watch 3 White Tail eagles just along the road for over half an hour, occasionally flying very close to us - that was un-believable. Highly recommended.
