Arrived to find the hotel deserted. We were early but it looked like it had closed down. And the front windows had rotted it was very off-putting.
Only one hour parking outside but there was a 24 hour car park Right opposite so that was fine.
There was a notice in the window saying the reception was open 3 pm to 9 pm and when we went back it was open and the receptionist was really lovely and helpful.
She took us around the side to get to our room and there’s a disused nightclub right behind and we then had to climb 5 flights of steep narrow stairs to our room on the top floor so anybody with mobility issues would never have made it.
There was a dank musty smell all the way up but sanitisers everywhere to use which was good.
Our room was bright and airy with a lovely bathroom with a modern shower but there were all flies outside the sash window and in between. The room was scorching hot and we couldn’t open the windows because of the flies outside.
When we got back to our room later there was a dog in one of the rooms going mental and barking when we went past which made us jump out of our skin!
We felt really unsafe and isolated with no reception in the night and no phone in the room. There was a phone down the corridor outside the door with instructions for emergency but If the emergency had actually been in our room we would’ve been trapped. I was so nervous we pushed the chair in front of the door.
This was a super cheap room in an excellent location but the rest of the things will put us off staying there again.
Lovely kebab shop next door though.

Dear Dolores17, Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback regarding your recent stay. I am so sorry to hear you were disappointed with some parts of your visit. We do clearly state our reception opening hours and I am glad to hear that you were greeted so well. Whilst the hotel does have a few stairs to walk up to access the bedrooms we never state anywhere that there is a lift nor that we have disabled access to the rooms, however should you need help to your room our reception team will be more than happy to assist. We will aim to make this more clear to our guests. We are sorry to hear that you felt isolated, whilst we do make it clear where the guest phone is located and our reception hours, a member of management lives on-site so that should there be any issues with your stay we can respond as quickly and efficiently as possible. Please be assured that we have taken your comments on board and we will be looking into providing each room with an in-room guest telephone. We do hope you provide us with the opportunity to make any relevant corrections and that you reconsider staying with us again in the future. Kind regards, The Angel Hotel

The room was fine, but the walls are quite thin so you can hear the guests in other rooms. Lound burps 🙁
The telly wasn’t working properly, I did report it in the morning but it wasn’t sorted out when got back later in the day, I figured out if I switched it off and on at the plug it worked. Please sort this out as I had to stand on the chair to reach the plug.
The wi-fi is quite weak on the top floor it would be good if this was boosted.
It’s just a place to stay there’s nothing going on, on the ground floor, so lacks atmosphere.
There is a musty smell on the ground floor which is a bit off putting when you arrive.
Fitting a few coat hocks would go amiss
The wardrobe did make me laugh😃thought I’d had a few too many drinks 😊

Booked online, £50 for 1 night, twin room for 2 people. At that price my expectations were set quite low.
Its an odd venue, doesnt open until 3pm, stays "open" until 9pm but then you can use your key card to gain entry after that and there is a Porter on duty (although I'm not sure Porter stays on site).
First impressions aren't brilliant I must admit, the hotel looks run down and smells of damp.
Our room was right at the top of 4 flights of stairs (again, although it was a trek we had been made aware of this before hand by looking at Trip advisor etc).
The downstairs use to have a bar but its all closed up and it doesn't look the most welcoming.

Couldn't fault the friendly welcome we received from the receptionionist.

The room was spacious, very clean. 2 x single beds, 2 x chairs. Bathroom was a good size and again spotless.
The floors were very creaky and door bangs in the wind (we blocked it with a chair).
No parking available which is a bit inconvenient.
Tea and coffee in the room, would have loved a biscuit!!

Would thoroughly recommend this lovely hotel. The staff were lovely and couldn’t do enough for us. We arrived quite late on Friday evening and there was a friendly face to greet us. Our section of the hotel had been freshly painted with modern furnishings and pictures on the wall. Our room overlooked the River Teifi. The shower was powerful and efficient. The location is fantastic, right in Cardigan itself.
I left my phone charger and plug and Alison was very helpful and sent it back home.
A brilliant hotel. We’ll definitely be back.

Disgusting. Only good thing about our stay was the lovely lady that checked us in. She was very polite and friendly. Thats where the good starts and ends.
As soon as you walk in this "hotel" you are greated with a musty yet at the same time, chemically smell that says with you, where ever you go. Be aware that all rooms are up two flights of uneven stairs so not ideal for everyone.
The rooms are well decorated and you can see they have tried to do the place up. Just be warned though this is just a facarde to the unclenliness of the hotel. To name but a few things we had blood spots on the sheets, disgusting sticky residue in the bedsite cabinet draws, the dressing table draw was absolutely covered in substances that looked like variety of different things, cracked window pane, the outside of the kettle was covered in splattered food and the bathroom in particular the shower head was very grubby.
Have stayed in a lot of hotels over the years never have i felt the need to sleep in my own clothes above the covers in one, until i stayed here.
Oh and not to mention the fact reception is kept locked from the outside (having to be unlocked by receptionist to be able to check in) as well as no access from the inside as it is also kept locked. There is a phone in the corridor which apparently you can contact someone on.
I would best describe this place as a poor unclean hostel and thats probably doing a dis service to some hostels out there.

Dear 541naomib, I am sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your recent stay at The Angel Hotel. Please be assured that level of cleanliness detailed in your review, is not the usual standard of cleaning that we provide. Had you brought these issues to our attention at the time, either during our reception hours or by calling from the guest phone that we provide we would have actioned upon this immediately. As detailed in the email confirmations provided at the time of booking, our reception is manned from 3pm to 9pm and arrivals outside of this time would need to have the door unlocked and opened for them. Please be assured that your comments have been taken onboard and the issues that you have raised have our full attention. Kind Regards The Angel Hotel Kind regards, The Angel Hotel

Originally booked in May 2020 and had to cancel because of Covid restrictions, rebooked for the following May, we were not aloud to travel because of Covid restrictions. Paid £294.00 to them for not being able to get near their hotel!!! They would not refund any part of the money as the booking was "non refundable" so they would not even return a small amount for the hardship of not being able to use their hotel. These are not good people to deal with, they have taken nearly £300.00 for changing a date in a diary and what they have done is unholy and unethical.
And the date on here is the date we couldn't travel!!

When I arrived from americs with my wife the desk lady was very rude from the beginning. We were charged for two rooms and when we asked for a refund for the room we did not book we were told it was our fault and it was non refundable. And on top of that the room had a horrible smell. I recommend looking right past this place and spending a little extra for a better experience. Save yourself the hastle.

We paid very little for our one night stay and I had read some awful reviews so my expectations were very low. On arrival, I thought we must have arrived at the wrong hotel as it was so lovely. The hotel has clearly very recently been refurbished and all communal areas and our room were clean and tastefully done out. The lady on reception and running the bar was lovely and friendly. The only shame was that it was quiet including the bar area. I hope they start to attract more business as it was a great venue.

Beware, this is not a 3 star hotel as described on Google, no facilities, no food, no atmosphere, only a bar that opens as and when ..... beer warm! Damp smelling stairway to rooms and whatever happens do not stay when the 'night club' is functioning ...... lots of drunk people, horrendous noise until gone 2am. Dreadful! Not possible to complain to owners as they will not communicate with the public even after one of my family members got injured by a drunk and needed first aid. Unbelievable.

The bedrooms were OK.

I would not recommend this 'hotel' to anyone.

Thank you for taking the time to share comments on your recent stay. Following our direct discussions we are disappointed that you felt compelled to leave a poor review. The amenities displayed on Google show that the Angel Hotel offers Free Wi-Fi, is pet friendly and smoke free, which is true. There is no mention on Google of food or drink service at The Angel Hotel. The hotel website and confirmation emails you received, state that functions take place from time to time. Guests are also contacted individually prior to arrival, to be made aware of events taking place and the finish time of those events. You were contacted and advised that there was an event taking place and that the night club would be in use during your stay. You were also reminded of this upon arrival and the availability of the reception desk, between 3pm and 9pm each day. Instructions of how to enter and exit the property when reception is not manned were also explained to you and your party. You did contact us directly to thank the member of the team for their professional and kind manner as they assisted your husband when he fell and we do hope that he is soon better. We always appreciate constructive criticism to help us improve the services that we offer and will certainly keep your comments in mind.

Room # 5 - 1 x Night stay booked via Agoda

Just in Cardigan town for the 1 x night.

Parking is not easy however there is a Free Overnight ( 6pm to 9am ) car park 300 metres away down by the river.

The welcome was great and the check inn really easy.

Room was tastefully decorated and light and bright.

Good Tea and Coffee facilities.

Bed was Comfy.

One really does not require much more.

Would book and stay again if I was ever to return to Cardigan.
